Chapter 894: Zombies Master Technology, No One Can Stop Them
âWhoosh!â
A glint of cold light suddenly pierced out from the side of the Zombie Puppet, piercing right through that hideous mouth. Amidst a series of frantic âhissingâ sounds, the cold light swiftly withdrew and flung the gestation pod, hitting a few more nearby.
âHurry up and go.â
A familiar voice sounded from behind, making Ling Mo freeze in surprise as he quickly turned around.
âHurry, hurry!â urged the person anxiously.
âSenior Sister?!â
âItâs really you, Ling Mo! I was worried Iâd mistaken you! But you can talk, and you feel like Ling Mo, so it should be right, hehe⊠though itâs kind of weird. Iâd prefer to see you in personâŠâ Li Yalin said, patting her chest with a smile.
âI donât even know where to start askingâŠâ
âAh! Thereâs no time!â
This was the third time Li Yalin urged him, and just as she finished speaking, a dull sound rumbled up from below.
âWhatâs that noise?â Ling Mo asked, widening his eyes toward the staircase behind him.
The sound came suddenly, but you could tell it was something quite powerfulâŠ
âIâve been chased by this thing for a while now. I heard some noise here and was hoping to bypass it, but then I sensed you seemed to be around, so I came over.â Li Yalin explained as she led the way up the stairs.
She even turned back halfway, looking oddly at the Zombie Puppet and asked, âHow did you find so many little ones?â
âItâs a long story⊠Actually, I should be asking you! Why are you here? Where are Xia Na and Ye Lian?â Ling Mo questioned.
Li Yalin looked up at the Ceiling, thought for a moment, and said, âThatâs a long story too⊠Ye Lian should still be outside, and Xia Na ran into a really deep room⊠let me think. I can remember what itâs called.â
âDonât throw such common knowledge into the useless folder!â Ling Mo said, feeling a headache coming on. âLet me handle this. First, tell me whatâs up with the thing chasing you?â
As they ran, dull âthud, thudâ sounds kept coming from below, making it feel as if they were constantly experiencing an earthquake.
âI donât know either⊠I was waiting for Xia Na outside when this thing appeared. It seemed like it wanted to get into that room too⊠To keep it from bothering Xia Na, I had to fight it, but itâs really strange. No matter how I hit it, it just wouldnât die⊠Now I donât even know where Iâve ended up. I canât sense Xia Naâs direction anymoreâŠâ
As Li Yalin spoke, Ling Mo tried to shift his focus. He started to reach out towards Xia Naâs direction, but oddly enough, a headache hit him. When he shifted to Ye Lianâs perspective, he was taken aback.
An eye⊠he locked eyes with an eye!
It was a bizarre eye⊠The moment Ling Mo saw it, he felt like he was looking at a human. But in a blink, the eye seemed to bleed, slowly turning red. Ling Mo vaguely detected a hint of unease in it, along with excitement and thrill⊠But in the next blink, the eye was gone. All that was left was an empty window and the sudden shattering of a pane of glassâŠ
âAh!â Ling Mo gasped softly, furrowing his brow, and his body swayed slightly.
âHmm? Whatâs going on?â Li Yalin quickly asked.
âNothing⊠Maybe because Ye Lian is currently in a state of mental concentration, my psychic power is foreign to her, which might cause a repelling effect,â Ling Mo explained, then continued, âYe Lian might have encountered an enemy, and I have a bad feeling about it. But since sheâs outside, it makes me feel a little better. As for Xia Na⊠where exactly did she go? I sense the psychic fluctuations around me are quite chaoticâŠâ ĆáŒđœđŹÎĂáčĄ
Li Yalin seemed a bit confused listening to this, but after Ling Mo finished speaking, she whispered quickly, âWill you be mad? Xia Na said this was also to help you⊠Weâre Senior Zombies, not humans who need protection⊠Iâm not too sure about this, honestly. I just feel like I also want to hunt, but I didnât expect hunting senior ones would be so hardâŠâ
âTo me, whether theyâre Zombies or humans, thereâs no difference in my heart, which is why IâŠâ Ling Mo started to shout but then sighed helplessly, âAlright, I wonât get mad. Didnât you just save me? To be honest, this Zombie Puppet is already done for; it had no ability to resist just now.â
He shook his limp arms and said.
Li Yalin giggled and suddenly sped into a Corridor, raising the Snake Kiss in her hand: âLetâs find a place to hide first. Iâll help you fix up those arms of yours.â
âUhâŠâ
âCome on! I help you, so you help me, right? Human principle, correct?â
ââŠâ
âMarriage principle?â
âŠ
âThis isnât⊠this isnât eitherâŠâ
Meanwhile, in the warehouse, Ling Mo was already controlling the Zombie Puppet to open several boxes, but he hadnât found the specified equipment. Instead, he discovered a lot of corpse remains. Most of them were very old, and there were even food wrappers and mineral water bottles on the ground.
Some corners were covered with foam and cardboard, obviously used as makeshift beds.
Ling Mo found a line of bloody writing on one of the boxes. Although it was a bit blurry, he could still make it out: ââŠItâs the fourth day, Iâve already killed two people. Will I be the third? I wonât mutate, I definitely wonât mutate⊠the people who were killed, did they really mutateâŠâ
âItâs the sixth day, no food left, only those two corpses remain⊠some people are starting to say theyâre not Zombies anymore, but if they were humansâŠâ
The writing beyond that point became completely chaotic. Ling Mo felt a chill run down his spine as he looked at the bloodstains around him.
Obviously, this had once been a refuge for the employees of the Rosen Company, but over time, something more terrifying than outside had occurred here⊠Recalling the Iron Doorâs interior, there were indeed signs of it being forcibly breached, but he hadnât paid attention when he saw it earlierâŠ
âI just donât know if what happened here has any connection to the current state of Rosen Company?â Ling Mo thought to himself before asking, âBy the way, Xiao Yue Er, where did you come from? Outside?â
Xiao Yue Er lifted her eyelids to glare at him and then shook her head.
âYou donât remember?â
She thought for a moment and then nodded.
âIt seems weâll have to head upstairs,â Ling Mo said, glancing again toward the Iron Door. Perhaps due to the peculiarity of this place, the Zombie, Huahua, hadnât chased after them yet. Ling Mo couldnât help but feel fortunate; he hadnât expected this decision to be beneficial in two ways. Otherwise, being constantly pursued by those scissorhands would have left him with nothing else to do but run for his life.
âWhat youâre looking for isnât on this floor, either,â Ling Mo said to Xiao Yue Er, looking down.
This time, he only received a cold snort in response, but he didnât mind and started climbing the stairs to the next floor.
The stairway to the second floor had more bloodstains, and there were bloody handprints on the walls left during a struggle. Most surprising to Ling Mo was that the railing still had blood-soaked ropes tied to it, and below was a large, dried bloodstain. Itâs not hard to imagine that someone had been tied up here, likely those âsuspected infectedâ mentioned in the bloody writing.
And now, the corpses were gone, without even any bones leftâŠ
Ling Mo shook his head to stop his imagination from running wild and continued up to the second floor.
Once he pushed open the door, a space even more open than downstairs came into view.
Many shelves and neatly stacked boxes were clustered in one corner of the area, and on the other side were some assembled products.
âStrangeâŠâ
By rights, this place should have been completely dark, but Ling Mo noticed a faint glow.
âDid you use some power-generating equipment?â Ling Mo asked after closing the door, finally letting go of Xiao Yue Erâs mouth. The soundproofing here was quite good, and even though Zombies have sharp hearing, it would be unlikely for them to hear Xiao Yue Erâs cries through a floor and two doors. Moreover, Ling Mo really needed Xiao Yue Er as a little âguide.â
Both the bloody writings outside and these âremnantsâ gave Ling Mo a very uncomfortable feeling. He had a hunch that the Rosen Company might be more complicated than it appearedâŠ
This discovery was somewhat unexpected for him, but considering the overall variation in Zombies, Ling Mo thought it might present an opportunity. The deeper his understanding of such variations, the more he could control actions in the future, not to mention the mysterious granaryâŠ
âWhat?â Xiao Yue Er asked blankly.
She stared wide-eyed at the glowing area and then suddenly started struggling fiercely, âDonât go over there!â
âIs that the place?â Ling Mo glanced at her and then began to approach it slowly.
Zombies arenât afraid of death, but they do feel a sense of dread when facing an Advanced counterpart, and Ling Mo was beginning to sense that feeling too. However, this was just a Zombie Puppet, and he still had a hostage in his handsâŠ
But Xiao Yue Er was different; she desperately wanted to stay away from that spot. Unfortunately, Ling Moâs restraining method didnât give her that choice⊠As Xiao Yue Erâs breathing gradually grew heavier, Ling Mo, with her in tow, edged closer to the source of the glow step by step.
The light was coming from several items resembling insulated boxes. Ling Mo didnât see any wires around but did notice a few things that looked like portable power banks. He frowned and studied these modern technological items for a moment before shifting his gaze to the inside of the insulated boxes.
Zombies using machines⊠the very thought was terrifying. So when Ling Mo peered inside, he was mentally preparedâŠ
