Chapter 559: Chapter 531: Big Wind and Barbarian
Gazing far and wide into the distance, where the sky and sea melded into one, it was hard to tell where one began and the other ended.
It seemed as though the thunderous roar of the dragon was emanating from the cumulus clouds in the heavens.
Through the cracks in the clouds, one could vaguely make out the hint of scales and claws of this Azure Dragon.
The dragonâs body stretched continuously as if reaching out to the horizon itself.
The glimpse of its tail that was unintentionally seen was as large as a mountain in the eyes of the two.
Xu Ke was left with eyes wide open and mouth agape, looking up in sheer disbelief as his body swayed slightly, âHow can this dragon be so enormous?â
âIâve seen an Azure Dragon in the sect before. But compared to the one before usâŠâ
âIt canât even be called a dragon. Iâd say itâs more akin to a small loach!â
Xu Ke was no fool. Aware that Nanming was domain to the Demonic Beasts, he whispered discreetly to Li Fan.
âA divine dragon, seen in the head but not the tailâŠâ Li Fan ignored him.
He was focused on examining the Azure Dragon in the sky dome, perusing the inherited memories within his Mystic Bird bloodline.
This Azure Dragonâs existence spanned an age, nearly comparable to that of the Emperor Tri-Moa, the Longevity Emperor.
Unlike the Emperor Tri-Moaâs role as the tribal prophet leading the Demon Clan, this so-called Azure God Dragon never intervened in internal affairs of the demonic beast groups.
It largely played the role of a âguardian deityâ, usually remaining hidden from the world.
It would only step in to lend assistance when the demon beast groups faced existential crises.
âUsually, the Azure God Dragon remains hidden, concealed within the waves or clouds. I wonder why itâs suddenly emitting such a dragon roar today.â
âSomething must be happening in Nanming.â
âTo have stumbled upon this upon arrival, it seems it truly is fated.â
While Li Fan pondered on this in secret, he gave Xu Ke another swipe with his claw.
Xu Ke was suddenly taken aback, itching to retaliate.
But he was ruthlessly subdued by Li Fan.
The Azure Luan bird that Xu Ke was riding on let out what seemed to be a sigh of helplessness.
Its pace didnât slacken; it continued to gallop at a rapid pace towards the south.
The Nanming Sea was boundless and expansive.
All that could be seen were the azure seawaters below and the sky dome above.
Having flown for over a dozen days straight, there wasnât the slightest change to the scenery.
They hadnât found any indication of this elusive Demon Mountain yet, not even a hint of the typical demonic beasts could be seen.
What they did see were odd schools of fish leaping out of the sea to play.
Some were even seen chasing after the shadows that Xu Ke and his party cast on the sea, following them all the way.
However, these fish were not yet sentient and largely relied on instincts; clearly, they werenât any demonic beasts.
âLittle Black, where on earth is that Demon Mountain?â Xu Ke propped up his chin with both hands, looking listless.
âElder Brother Lu Ya wasnât very clear about it either, only telling me to head south and Iâll get there.â
âI actually believed him. Itâs such a headache.â
Just as Li Fan was about to reply, his expression abruptly changed.
A feeling of impending danger accompanied by a strong scent of blood suddenly assaulted him from behind.
He immediately turned around and spat out a beam of Dark Light, clashing with this ominous presence.
âHuh?â A startled voice came from the other side.
âBoom!â
In the midst of the explosion, the Azure Luan bird finally reacted.
It let out an angry squawk, spreading its wings to shield Xu Ke behind itself.
Meanwhile, Li Fan had flown into mid-air, looking at the perpetrator who had launched a sneak attack from a distance.
It was a two-headed strange bird.
Its feathers were all snowy white. One of its heads had wide open eyes, constantly shifting its gaze between Xu Ke and his party.
The other head appeared to be in deep sleep, its eyes tightly shut with its head bobbing up and down, making it look quite comical.
âSo, youâre from the Mystic Bird Tribe. I havenât seen you in years, and youâve turned into⊠this.â
âTruly so ugly I canât bear to look.â
The two-headed monster bird mocked with a shrill voice.
âManmanâŠâ Li Fan took a moment to recognize the origin of this two-headed bird.
It seems that it has some relation to the Heavenly Mandate Mystic Bird Tribe.
Named Manman, although the name isnât pleasant sounding, its reputation is not small.
It is said that the left head can see the causes and effects of everything in the world, while the right head is always in slumber.
Only when it senses disaster, it will wake up instinctively.
However, most Manman birds are green with hints of red. This completely white one is extremely rare.
No wonder it finds Li Fan ugly, being its polar opposite with his pitch-black appearance.
Although, according to the hierarchy among demon beasts, the other party is likely Li Fanâs âelderâ.
But faced with the sudden attack and mockery from this white Manman bird, Li Fan obviously wouldnât give it any face.
âStrange, is there a duck quacking somewhere?â
âQuack, quack, itâs so annoying and noisy.â
Li Fan looked around as if he hadnât seen the Manman bird at all and asked Xu Ke beneath him with some confusion and disdain.
Xu Ke was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter, âRight, I heard it too.â
âThey say Nanming Demon Mountain is a holy site for demon beasts. How could an uncouth duck end up here, this is truly strange!â
Hearing their banter, Manman bird blew up in anger immediately.
âWhich of you two, are calling me a duck?â
âI am the noble and prestigious Manman bird! Moreover, I am the rare pure white variant that appears once in a millennium, youâŠâ
However, regardless of what it said, Li Fan and Xu Ke kept shaking their heads and making faces of disgust.
The white Manman bird was furious and was about to confront them once again.
But it seemed to hold back, probably remembering something.
âIâll remember you, bird of Mystic Tribe!â
After throwing Li Fan a deadly look, it spread its wings and flew away.
Li Fan and Xu Ke exchanged glances and quickly instructed Qing to follow closely behind.
Not long after, Manman bird noticed that they were following it.
âWhy are you guys following me? Do you really think Iâm easy to bully?â
Li Fan sneered, âHow strange, the world is vast and all beasts can roam freely.â
âAre you saying that wherever Manman birds fly, no other beast can pass?â
âYouâre overstepping your boundaries.â
Before the white Manman bird could retort, a strange laughter suddenly echoed from the horizon and neared in an instant.
âHahaha!â
âGood point, little boy! Seems like you Manman birds have been living too comfortably and have forgotten your manners!â
The Manman bird had a murderous look in its eyes.
When it saw who had arrived, though, it instantly deflated.
The newcomer was bird-shaped, but looked like a dog with a human face.
Each flutter of its wings was accompanied by a howling wind.
It was none other than the famous member of the âBig Windâ tribe.
âHahaha!â
After the Big Wind Bird came to a stop, it laughed heartily again.
Then its gaze lingered on Li Fan for a moment before finally resting on Xu Ke.
A hint of surprise flashed across its eyes.
âWhatâs a little human boy doing in our territory?â
