The class had given him a skill of all things, rather than just a general benefit. A skill related to his class was a strange one, and he couldnât figure out what it could do by its name, so he decided to just go ahead and see what it could do.
[Night Breaker]
[This skill can only be used once a day. This skill can only be used during the day.]
There was slight confusion. So far, everything to do with the class was to do with the night, so Gary was interested to see where this would go.
[When the skill is cast, the small area around them will be covered in darkness. While in the area, the user will have the same effects as if the night sky was out.]
Lifting his hands up, Gary touched the corners of his mouth, and he could feel that both of them were raised. The one weakness the class had was that everything relied on it being night, but this was the one skill that would change all of that.
His efforts were worth it in the end. There was a part of him that was too scared at the time to ask the vampire king of all things if he could beat up a few of his men.
Yet, curious about what it could do for him, Gary had forced himself. He had to imagine he had done harder things than that before, so he had to at least ask.
While Gary was enjoying the new effects the system was giving him, he also quickly could see them all disappear, and there was a reason for it. Turning his head to look outside the window, he could see the piercing rays of sunshine hit him.
âItâs daytime already, but I havenât even had any sleep!â Gary said, shaking his head.
They didnât know what time the Altered Hunters or whoever it was were to meet them, only the location. With that thought on his mind, it would be hard for Gary to get sleep anyway, so he decided to head to the Wolfâs Pool Club himself.
Besides, if he wanted to get some shut-eye, he could just lie across the back couches. It wasnât the comfiest of places, but Gary was used to his past life. He wasnât the type of person that couldnât sleep unless he had silk sheets, although he did enjoy his silk sheets.
When Gary had arrived, he was surprised by a couple of things. One was that there were workers already fixing the streets, and they had already done a good job with major repairs to the place.
As for the second thing, inside the Wolfâs Pool Club, he could see Austin starting to lie down, but sat up right as soon as he saw Gary enter.
âYouâre here early⊠you could have enjoyed the rest of your day, you know,â Austin said.
âRight, but I had trouble sleeping knowing what we were getting into,â Gary said, walking over.
âYouâre telling me, I couldnât sleep all night.â
When Gary looked at Austin, he could see deep black bags under his eyes.
âI was with Tom trying to figure out our Altered problem. Itâs our heat signature, so he created all of us special shirts to wear. The heat signature is mainly from the core, so it will cool us down and make us appear⊠regular, I guess, to the Altered Hunters.
âIt should work even if weâre wearing their drips and drapes, he said. The thing is, wearing this thing, it makes me feel so cold. Iâm finding it hard to sleep.â
âYou could take it off,â Gary said. âI mean, the Altered Hunters, if theyâre sending in vamps, then they would be here at night, right?â
âAre they even weak to the sun?â Austin asked. âI mean, we donât know, right⊠maybe they really can just walk during the day.â
Now that Gary thought about it, it did make him wonder. Did vampires drink blood, were they weak to the sun? The thing about the full moon was true for Werewolves, so some things had to be true about the vampires as well, right?
âCome on, I think we can both do with some sleep before we head off, being tired isnât going to help either of us,â Gary said.
But they hadnât even gotten the chance to lie down. As the door swung open again. They were surprised to see anyone come in so early, and the only ones that would do so they would know.
âOh⊠Iâm surprised to see you both here. I was just going to talk to Miss Degrace to inform me of any issues,â Kai explained. âActually, after that, I was going to come see you, Gary.â
âMe?â Gary pointed to himself. He knew they would all be leaving together soon, but what could Kai want with him?
Walking over, Kai talked with Austin for a bit first, making sure that things were all good and set up for their journey. He knew he could rely on Tom, and he had come through this time as well.
Austin had even brought a package that was left on the counter. Several solutions for both him and Gary to use in order to cover up their scent, this was an important part to it all.
After that, Kai went back to Gary, and he asked him to walk outside with him. Before he knew it, they were both out on the street, and Gary was staring at the sunlight once again.
âI need to talk to you about something really important, and itâs about the whole sake of the gang,â Kai said, his tone serious. Although Kai was always serious, it was rare for Gary to hear him talk this way directly to him.
âThe thing is⊠I donât think youâre going to like what Iâm about to do, Gary, but I need you to understand, we have no choice.â
