1330 Â My Luna Wolf (Part 2)
There was one thing Gary didnât like about turning Xin into the Luna.
They were losing a powerful ally.
Xin wasnât just anyone, she had been one of the strongest fighters in the AFC, ranking among the top fifty. On top of that, she had an Altered form, one with unique versatility that had come in handy more times than Gary could count. And she had given it all up.
To become Luna of the pack.
âWe saw firsthand what Ylva was capable of,â Gary thought as he walked. âA Luna isnât just a title. She empowered those around her. The Wolfâs Song, the emotional connection, it made the entire pack stronger. Thatâs the value a Luna brings.â
Still, there was something else nagging at him.
âWhat I want to know is, will Xin now be weaker than before, or⊠even stronger?â
A screen opened before him.
[Xin Clove]
[Luna Werewolf]
[Grade: Queen]
[Class: None]
[Luna skills are locked. Please select the first class, and proceed to upgrade in order to unlock Luna skills.]
âHuh? This is new,â Gary thought, eyebrows furrowing.
Usually, he could see the basic details of those connected to him, name, class, and pawn points. But this was the first time heâd seen something like this. The system didnât give him full access to alliesâ HP or energy levels, and stats like skills were usually locked unless upgraded.
Still, it was a good sign. Xin was already at the Queen grade.
Which made Gary wonder, once her class was selected, would he be given the option to evolve her role even further?
The system gave him a new prompt.
[Please choose one of the following classes:]
Warrior Class
Hunter Class
Protector Class
The familiar trio of basic classes.
âRight⊠sometimes, if I invest enough pawn points, the class will evolve into something unique, kind of like what happened with Kai,â Gary thought. âBut it said one of three. So⊠does that mean thereâs a Luna-exclusive class that might come afterward?â
More than anything, he wanted to try it right now. He was curious. Excited, even.
But then he remembered what happened last time he rushed an evolution.
He thought of the pain his allies had gone through when evolving, and glanced toward Edvard beside him. This wasnât the right place, or time.
âIâll mess with this later,â he told himself. âStill⊠I wonder. To unlock some of my powers, will I need to complete something with her too?â
Suddenly, an image popped into his head, Ylva and Lupus kissing during their battle.
He hadnât thought much of it at the time. It was chaos. But nowâŠ
âYouâd think one kiss wouldnât be such a big deal. But me and Xin havenât exactly had a lot of alone time, either.â
With that thought lingering in his mind, the three of them eventually reached their destination, the Wolfâs Pool Club.
Xin found it strange that Gary had stayed quiet the entire way, but figured he just had a lot on his mind.
âSo this is the legendary Howlers base?â Edvard said, looking around. âItâs⊠cozy.â
âSorry itâs not what youâre used to. What, do you guys have a castle or something?â Gary replied.
âA few,â Edvard answered nonchalantly.
Gary blinked. Multiple castles?
That mental image hit him hard. He hadnât even considered where vampires lived, or how theyâd managed to stay hidden all this time, especially if their numbers were larger than the werewolves.
Inside the club, Miss Degrace was already tidying things up, as usual. She waved cheerfully when she saw them enter. They were a bit early, but that gave them a chance to watch everyone else arrive.
One by one, the core members of the Howlers walked through the doors.
Marie, Olivia, Midwak, Kai, Blake, Innu, Ice, Blackjack, Austin, Park. All of them.
Soon after came the Altered Hunters, entering as a group.
Tension filled the air.
As expected, those who knew each other gravitated to their own groups. But something odd happened when Blake and Innu walked in. Everyone looked at them, waiting, almost like it was a test. Which side would they choose?
In the end, the two of them smiled awkwardly and made their way toward the Howlers.
They had spent a lot of time with the Altered Hunters recently, but to Innu, Slough was home. And these people, his brothers and sisters in battle, were his real friends.
Blake, meanwhile, had made a quiet decision. He was leaving everything to do with the Altered Hunters behind. That life was over for him. Although⊠he still made sure to sit far from Midwak.
âMy, my, this is quite the full house,â Edvard said, strolling to the bar and ordering a strong whisky. Miss Degrace was quick to serve him, adding a small wink on the side.
There was definitely some kind of chemistry going on between them.
After taking a sip, Edvard stepped to the center of the room with his glass in hand.
âFirst,â he said, raising it high, âwhy donât we all enjoy a drink together? All of us have been through a lot, and I believe our relationships are only going to grow stronger from here.â
At first, a few people hesitated. But eventually, they moved to grab drinks and returned to their seats, raising their glasses in return.
âTo good health!â Edvard said cheerfully, taking a long sip.
Everyone followed.
âNow then,â he continued, voice strong and steady, âlet me explain everything. Iâll go over the events that have brought us to this point, the truth behind the Altered Hunters Association, and what its real purpose is.
âAnd to begin, Iâll give you all a free answer to the question thatâs probably been bouncing around in your headsâŠ
âYes, I am a vampire. And not just any vampireâŠ
âI am one of the thirteen original vampires.â
