"Oh, you seem to see things quite clearly,"
"Zeus is indeed such a person. He wonât mind you staying in the depths of the ocean, nor will he care that you once opposed him. After all, you pose no actual threat to him. As long as you are willing to submit, all can be turned over,"
Erebus nodded slightly, expressing his agreement with Pontusâs statement.
However, in the unfathomable ocean trench, the spirit of the Primordial Sea God tensed up.
If it were so simple to make the other side give up, that would be perfect. But no matter how he thought about it, he did not believe things would be that simple.
"Yes, Lord Erebus... I no longer intend to be an enemy to anyone. And itâs not just me, Ourea, who has transformed into Mount Olympus, feels the same,"
"This world is no longer our era. Even the Titans have withdrawn from the stage, let alone us. The world has welcomed its new masters, so let the past grievances dissipate with the wind,"
The voice echoed at the bottom of the sea, growing weaker and weaker.
Pontus decided to enter a deeper slumber directly. He was no match for Erebus, but his adversary could not force him to do anything either.
As one of the original deities, Pontusâs understanding of these Primordial Deities far exceeded that of later gods. He knew clearly that although for most people, the degree of personification of a Primordial God seemed to only affect the strength of their power, in realityâaside from the fully personified Gaiaâboth Erebus and Nyx could not walk about for long.
They spent most of their time isolated from the world, voluntarily in Nyxâs case, but for Erebus, it was partly voluntary and partly forced.
Only a truly complete Great Divine Power can unite with the Source Power, exist symbolically without eroding its persona, maintaining its thoughts and human nature intact, but this is something no one in current times can truly achieve.
So, Pontus was worried but still confident because he knew that even in the worst-case scenario, it would only result in the Lord of Darkness lashing out and leaving after venting for a while.
The threat he posed was limited, his fundamentally non-violent nature believed that due to various factors, the other party couldnât exert absolute violence and thus could not pose a real threat to him.
"Is that so?"
Pontusâs refusal was so direct that he even began to close off his senses. However, faced with such a reaction, Erebus just smiled and nodded again in approval.
"Perhaps youâre right, Pontus... this is no longer your era. But just because it isnât yours doesnât mean it isnât someone elseâs. At least I feel that the age of the first era is far from over..."
"Of course, since youâre unwilling, letâs leave it at that. I wonât force you, make whatever choice you want,"
The voice was even somewhat cheerful as the Lord of Darknessâs robe fluttered slightly. He showed no annoyance at being rejected but simply waved his hand and continued walking forward.
The bottom of this ocean was so calm and lightless, surrounded by seabeds. And the place he was heading to was the only destination, that profound sea trench itself.
"...What are you... wait, Lord Erebus, what are you doing? I refused you, so are you going to attack me?"
Suddenly, the previously quiet voice rang out again. Pontus seemed a bit nervous, but Erebus just explained softly, indicating he had no ill intentions.
"Donât misunderstand, since you want to sleep, then sleep. Everything in the Material Realm has been forsaken by you, so what I do should be irrelevant to you."
"Rest assured, I wonât disturb your slumber anymore, I just... want to solve a long-standing puzzle."
Taking a step, Erebus descended towards the seemingly bottomless ravine.
Lights and shadows flickered behind him, indifferent to the natural wonders that had been early set around him. The Lord of Darkness continued forward, and at this moment, Pontus seemed to realize what the other was about to do.
"Wait, this is where I sleep, if youâre not planning to disturb me, why intrude hereâokay, you just want me to do something for you, right? Iâll hear you out, as long as itâs not too much..."
Bangâ
Within the sea trench, invisible forces converged, seemingly intent on stopping Erebusâs advance, but it all proved futile.
Without pausing for even a moment, Pontusâs barriers were shattered by Erebus. As if unaware, the Lord of Darkness continued downward.
"Stop, youâve won, I donât want to be your enemy, just say what you want to do, but this isnât a place for you!"
Crackâ
Another deep blue light barrier was shattered, but interestingly, it seemed not to be a recent barrier.
Perhaps it was thousands of years ago, or perhaps tens of thousands of years ago, Pontus had already set up this obstacle. Watching this scene, the Lord of Darknessâs smile grew even thicker.
"Indeed, I knew it... Haha, it looks like Iâm in the right place."
"Stop, Erebus! What exactly are you doing, do you know what you are doing!?!"
The furious shout of the Primordial Sea God echoed throughout the sea trench, but it was just a meaningless protest.
Ignoring him, the next moment, an immense power slowly spread from Erebusâs being. The entire sea trench was enveloped by it, everything was obscured by him.
The gods in the sky had no idea what was happening beneath their feet, and Erebusâs footsteps still did not stop.
