"Speak up, and it better be something I want to hear, or the pain will double," Ye Luo said with a curl of his lip.
"We are from the Maple Leaf Organization, sent to kill you," the gunman hurriedly said, fearing to endure that inhuman torture again, which was worse than death.
"Maple Leaf Organization? What is that? I donât recall offending them," Ye Luo said, somewhat surprised.
"You disrupted a Maple Leaf Organization operation in the mall before, so higher-ups ordered us to take you out," the gunman said, looking at Ye Luo.
"So thatâs it, damn it, why am I so unlucky!"
Ye Luo remembered the incident at the mall from yesterday, never expecting that a simple act of assistance would offend such a mysterious organization.
"What does your organization do?" Ye Luo asked abruptly.
"I..."
The gunmanâs eyes showed a hint of hesitation.
"Speak!"
Ye Luoâs expression hardened as he commanded.
Bang!
Just then a bullet flew at high speed, and Ye Luoâs complexion changed; he dodged swiftly, and the bullet had already gone through the guyâs head.
Ye Luo scanned the surroundings and saw a figure disappearing quickly tens of meters away.
Ye Luo hadnât seen the assassin before, and their sudden appearance ended with the gunmanâs life; it looked like a clear case of silencing the witness.
"Maple Leaf Organization... Interesting!"
A small smile curled upon Ye Luoâs lips.
"Hope they donât provoke me again, or Iâll turn them into rotten leaves," he said, before leaving the area without much concern for the four corpses, as he had left no evidence behind.
Back at the Charm Bar, Ye Luo didnât see Yan Ling. After asking a waiter, he learned she was upstairs, so he went up, opened a room door, and was greeted by a faint scent of musk.
The room was elegantly decorated, with Yan Ling sitting on a sofa, quietly sipping red wine, her gaze cast down as if deep in thought and looking somewhat forlorn.
"Whatâs on your mind, Sister Yan?"
Ye Luo walked over and blurted out.
"Oh, you scared me to death!"
Yan Ling regained her composure and playfully chided Ye Luo with a laugh.
"What were you thinking about, Sister Yan? You were so absorbed in thought that you didnât even notice me coming in. If it had been a bad guy, you might have been compromised by now," Ye Luo said teasingly.
"I think youâre the bad guy here. Tell me, are you hoping to compromise me?"
Yan Ling regained her previous coquettish and seductive demeanor, looking at Ye Luo with an alluring gaze, leaning slightly forward.
At that moment, Yan Ling was wearing a V-necked long dress.
Ye Luo swallowed hard, thinking to himself: Damn, this is too tempting.
Zhonghai, the police station.
In Chief Hong Zhentaoâs office, a middle-aged man with a solemn face, dressed in a black suit, sat, while two young men and women with extraordinary auras stood behind him.
Hong Zhentao sat opposite, his expression somewhat grave. The office door opened, and Yang Bingning came in.
"Chief, you called for me?"
Yang Bingning said to Hong Zhentao, glancing at the three people across from her.
"Bing Ning, let me introduce them to you. These are the investigators from above looking into the mall case. Group Leader Wang, this is Captain Yang Bingning from our criminal police team, who is in charge of the mall case," Hong Zhentao said, introducing the middle-aged man with a note of respect in his voice.
"Hello!"
Yang Bingning said, locking eyes with the obviously important middle-aged man.
"Ms. Yang, at such a young age you have become the captain of Zhonghaiâs criminal police, quite impressive," said the middle-aged man with a hint of a smile.
"Thank you," Yang Bingning replied indifferently.
"Captain Yang, Iâve heard that a young man resolved this mall case, and he subdued all the robbers single-handedly with Silver Needles, is that correct?" the middle-aged man asked, looking towards Yang Bingning.
"Yes, his name is Ye Luo," Yang Bingning nodded.
"Iâve heard you two have a good relationship," the middle-aged man probed further, turning towards Yang Bingning.
Yang Bingningâs expression changed slightly as she coldly replied, "No, I didnât know him before."
"Regardless, I would like you to take us to meet him. We have some matters to discuss with him," the middle-aged man said.
"This..."
"Bing Ning, go ahead and take Group Leader Wang to meet that person," Hong Zhentao said to Yang Bingning.
"Alright."
Yang Bingning nodded.
"Great, weâll let you know when weâre ready," Group Leader Wang said, standing up and addressing Yang Bingning before heading out, followed closely by the young man and woman.
After the three left the office, Yang Bingning turned to Hong Zhentao and said, "Chief, who are they?"
"Bing Ning, you used to be in the Capital City Military District, so you should know about the Special Security Bureau," Hong Zhentao said with a heavy tone.
"Theyâre from the Special Security Bureau?" Yang Bingningâs expression changed dramatically, her pupils tightening, and a look of disbelief crossed her face.
"Correct, the Special Security Bureau is divided into four groups: Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow. He is the leader of the Profound Group, Wang Ruofeng," Hong Zhentao revealed, and as his words fell, Yang Bingningâs face went through a series of changes as she exclaimed, "How did this case attract the Special Security Bureauâs attention, and they even sent the leader of the Profound Group?"
