"Whatâs happened?"
Ye Luo walked over, a puzzled expression on his face as he looked at Hei Zi.
"Deputy Director, hello!"
The security guards all greeted him respectfully.
"Hei Zi, with that look of utter despair on your face, could it be youâve been dumped?"
"Deputy Director, youâre really something, guessing it just like that."
"You really got dumped, that fast?" Ye Luoâs face turned into a look of shock, somewhat startled.
"Boss, donât listen to their nonsense, I havenât been dumped. Itâs just that my girlfriendâs parents suddenly told me that if I want to be with their daughter, I must prepare a dowry of five hundred thousand. Iâve been saving by scrimping and scraping and have only managed to save up one hundred thousand; itâs nowhere near enough," Hei Zi said with a crestfallen face.
Hu Zi suddenly spoke up, "I have sixty thousand saved up, Iâll give it all to you."
"No way, that money is for your fatherâs retirement, and youâll need money when you get married yourself. How could I take your money?" Hei Zi quickly shook his head.
"And here I thought it was something serious. Itâs just five hundred thousand. Have you forgotten who your boss is? Just come to me directly," Ye Luo said nonchalantly.
"Boss..." Hei Zi was just about to say something when suddenly his phone rang.
Hei Zi answered, "Qianqian, whatâs wrong?"
"What?"
Instantly, Hei Ziâs complexion changed, his eyes filled with deep anger.
After hanging up the phone, Hei Zi clenched his fists tightly, his expression looking very ugly.
"Whatâs happened?" Ye Luo asked.
"My girlfriend just called to say her parents are taking her to a matchmaking meeting, and the guyâs a wealthy businessman," Hei Zi said through gritted teeth, his eyes filled with intense anger and unwillingness.
"Do you know where?" Ye Luo glanced at Hei Zi.
"I know. You want to go, Boss?"
Ye Luoâs lips curled up in a smile, "Letâs go and snatch your bride."
"Iâm coming too," Hu Zi said abruptly.
In Zhonghai, at a high-end restaurant, Ye Luo walked in with Hei Zi and Hu Zi.
"Where are they?" Ye Luo asked Hei Zi.
"They probably havenât arrived yet. Boss, are we really going to do this?" Hei Zi looked at Ye Luo, his face showing nervousness.
"If you want a wife, stop talking nonsense. As a man, if you canât even protect your own woman, do you want to lose face?" Ye Luo said with a smirk.
At that moment, a middle-aged couple and a young woman walked into the restaurant. Seeing the three, Hei Zi hurried forward, his eyes joyfully calling out to the young woman, "Qianqian."
And this young woman was Hei Ziâs girlfriend, the receptionist of Ling Corporation, Du Qianqian.
"Hei Zi!" Du Qianqian looked at Hei Zi, her anxious eyes suddenly revealing a hint of excitement, and she was about to rush over but was held back by her mother, the middle-aged woman at her side.
"What are you doing here?" Du Qianqianâs mother looked at Hei Zi with a face full of disgust, her demeanor full of snobbery.
With an embarrassed expression, Hei Zi replied, "Auntie, I know you oppose me being with Qianqian, but we truly love each other. I beg you to give us your blessing."
"Can true love put food on the table? You, a bottom-of-society security guard, what happiness can you bring to our Qianqian? Youâll probably never afford a house in your life, only making our Qianqian suffer."
"So you should stop thinking about being with Qianqian, and besides, we have already found her a good husband. The guy is worth tens of millions, a big boss with houses and cars, someone from high society, completely out of league for a mere security guard like you."
Duâs mother snorted coldly, her eyes filled with disdain, exuding an air of ambition.
"Mom, I donât like that so-called big boss; I only want to be with Hei Zi," Du Qianqian declared resolutely.
"Du Qianqian, are you trying to anger your dad and me to death?" Duâs mother stared at her daughter furiously.
At that moment, Du Qianqianâs father also spoke up, "Yes, Qianqian, your mother is right. You will have no good future with a security guard like him."
"If itâs money you want, Iâve paid the 500,000 dowry for Hei Zi."
Ye Luo walked over, sweeping a cold glance at the two of them as he spoke.
"Who are you?" Duâs mother asked, looking at Ye Luo in surprise.
"Who I am is not important. You wanted Hei Zi to give a 500,000 dowry, right? Iâve paid it for him. Happy now?" Ye Luo said indifferently.
Just as Duâs mother was about to reply, a man in his thirties, slightly overweight and dressed in a suit, walked into the restaurant, looking every bit the successful businessman.
"Auntie Du, youâre here?"
The man walked over with a smile, looking warmly at Du Qianqianâs parents.
"Mr. Zheng, youâve arrived," greeted Du Qianqianâs parents, their faces glowing with warmth.
"Qianqian, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Zheng Fang."
"Mr. Zheng, this is my daughter Qianqian, isnât she beautiful?" Duâs mother said enthusiastically.
Zheng Fang glanced at Du Qianqian and remarked, "Hmm, Miss Du is indeed more beautiful than her photos, Iâm very satisfied."
"And who are these people?" Zheng Fangâs gaze then shifted to Ye Luo and the others.
"Oh, we donât know these three. Letâs go have our meal," Duâs mother said, plainly ignoring Ye Luo and his friends.
"I am Qianqianâs boyfriend," blurted out Hei Zi.
Immediately, the expressions of Du Qianqianâs parents and Zheng Fang changed.
"What nonsense are you talking about, kid? Qianqian isnât your girlfriend, Mr. Zheng, please donât misunderstand," Duâs mother hastily explained to Zheng Fang.
Zheng Fang, with a hint of arrogance in his eyes, gave Hei Zi a glance but wasnât the least bit angry. Instead, he smiled and said, "It seems you are also a suitor of Miss Du. May I ask what your occupation is?"
"Heâs just a useless security guard," Duâs mother said mockingly.
"Oh, a security guard, right? It so happens my company needs a security manager, with a monthly salary of 10,000. How about it, are you interested?" Zheng Fang said with a mocking look at Hei Zi.
"Mr. Zheng, that guy isnât fit to be a security manager," Duâs mother said disdainfully, casting a glance at Hei Zi.
At that moment, Hei Ziâs face was full of anger, his fists clenched tightly as he stared fixedly at Zheng Fang.
"Young man, youâve got a long road ahead of you; youâve experienced too little. In this world, donât bother looking for a girlfriend if you donât have money because even if you find one, sheâll just be stolen away by someone else. Without capital, donât embarrass yourself here," Zheng Fang said, looking down on Hei Zi.
"You..." Hei Ziâs face flushed with rage, and he was about to charge at the man when Ye Luo grabbed him.
Ye Luo, with a devilish smirk, looked at Zheng Fang and said, "Listen to you talk, I wonder what sort of capital you have?"
"Who are you?"
"Iâm Hei Ziâs friend."
"Being friends with a security guard, it looks like youâre not much either. Normally, I wouldnât bother with someone like you, but to make it clear to you lowlifes where you stand, I suppose I should let you know what my capital is, right?"
