Chapter 274: The War Between Gods And Demons, The Secret of The Existential Planes
Demons and deities belonged to two different camps, and they were two completely different types of higher beings.
For a deity to gain strength, apart from having to comprehend laws of nature themselves, they also had to spread their faith. The more abundant their supply of power of faith was, the faster they would gain strength.
Therefore, the number of power of faith domains one had was an important indicator of a deityâs strength and status.
It was a different case for demons in comparison.
Firstly, demons didnât need power of faith. They needed only to cannibalize one another or devour demons or deities of a higher level than them, and they would be able to strengthen themselves.
This was the simplest and most straightforward wayâas well as what most demons didâfor a demon to strengthen itself.
Apart from that, demons also had another way to strengthen themselves, and that wasâto occupy existential planes.
The more existential planes a demon occupied and the bigger their territory was, the more rewards they would receive from the Void. As a result, they would also naturally gain strength even faster.
This was also the main reason why many Demon Gods were passionate about expanding their territory and occupying more existential planes despite clearly not needing power of faith.
This was the exact reason why Cyrus, the Dark Demonic Dragon, had invaded Heavenâs Vault Continent.
As a Demon God, Cyrus had taken only a short period of time to mature to what it currently was. To outsiders, it would definitely appear to be amazingly talented!
After all, Cyrus had come from a low-end demon existential plane. Moreover, it wasnât even more than 30,000-years-old yet.
How talented must it be, then?
But the truth was?
The existential plane in the Void that Cyrusâ hometown was in was relatively unique. Surrounding it were dozens of existential planes that were entangled together to form a densely-packed existential plane cluster.
Yes, an existential plane cluster!
An even more crucial factor was that no Demon God or true god had ever graced the existential plane cluster prior to Cyrusâ emergence. It was an untouched area that no one had ever stepped into.
Cyrus effortlessly occupied the dozens of existential planes after its emergence. That was how it had managed to enhance its strength and become a Demon God in such a short amount of time.
Its great fortune made innumerable living beings green with envy, while the speed at which it gained strength made it seem like a cheat that was armed with a cheating device.
Currently, at Mount Demonic Dragon on the Demonic Dragon Continent...
As the loftiest and tallest mountain ranges on Demonic Dragon Continent, Mount Demonic Dragon was shrouded in blood-red clouds and black fog all year round.
No birds flew there, while beasts and insects also stayed clear.
There were barely any traces of human presence and no signs of life at all.
Mount Demonic Dragon was a holy and untouchable place in the whole Demonic Dragon Continent. Any living being that dared so much as to come near would be executed.
Thunderous snoring could be heard coming from a cave at Mount Demonic Dragonâs summit at the moment. Air currents from exhalation surged out of the cave like windstormsâthe Dark Demonic Dragon was currently fast asleep in the cave.
Indeed, the Dark Demonic Dragon spent its day in slumber all year round. It handed even tasks like invading existential planes and occupying territories to its subordinates.
The only thing it needed to do was to wait for its subordinates to conquer an existential plane, return to the Demonic Dragon Continent, and then refine the Heart of the Existential Plane, and... that would do.
Every other moment of the day was spent in comfortable slumber.
âGrandmaster!â
Just as the Dark Demonic Dragon was still in sweet slumber, a panicked voice traveled over from afar. Then, another Dark Demonic Dragon passed through the thick blood-red clouds and black fog and quickly arrived at the cave.
The Dark Demonic Dragon prostrated on the ground, weeping as it cried out, âSomething terrible has happened, Grandmaster!â
âEh?â
The thunderous snoring died down at once. Then, a furious roar thundered. âDamn you, Baker! How dare you disturb my beauty sleep! If you donât give me a satisfactory explanation today, Iâm going to skin you!â
âSomething terrible has happened, Grandmaster!â
The Dark Demonic Dragon was actually Baker, whom Meng Lei had previously killed. It sobbed loudly as it said, âThe demon army in charge of invading Heavenâs Vault Continent has been annihilated. Even my demonic incarnation has died! Dead! Theyâre all dead, Grandmaster!â
âWhat?â
A pitch-black Dragon head emerged from the cave. Its blood-red eyes bore into the prostrating Baker as it barked fiercely, âWhat exactly has happened? Speak clearly!â
âYes, Grandmaster!â
Not daring to dally and show any disrespect, Baker hastily recounted everything that had happened on Heavenâs Vault Continent. In the end, it even added, âThat human deity is extremely powerful. Not only can he release Netherworld Divine Fire, but he even has the Grim Reaper Scythe that only the Grim Reapers possess. Both Anton and I were not his match even when we joined hands!â
Cyrus, the Dark Demonic Dragon, narrowed its eyes, hints of murderous intent flashing across them. It said, âNo matter who you are, be it a Divine Netherworld Phoenix or a Grim Reaper, you deserve death for having the audacity to challenge my authority!â
As a Demon God thatâs on the same level as an intermediate deity, the Dark Demonic Dragon wasnât one to be intimidated that easily. It was well aware just how powerful the Divine Netherworld Phoenixes and the Grim Reapers were, but it was even more aware of the fact that beings from those two races couldnât show up in a remote existential plane like Heavenâs Vault Continent.
But since they had indeed shown up, then there was only one explanation behind thisâMeng Lei was very likely a descendant of the Divine Netherworld Phoenixes and the Grim Reapers.
The Dark Demonic Dragon didnât fear that. More importantly, it had even thought of some other things by association.
âHeavenâs Vault Continent must be no ordinary continent if the Divine Netherworld Phoenixesâ and the Grim Reapersâ bloodlines have been passed down over there. A war between gods and demons might have broken out there in the past.â
âA war between gods and demons?!â
An unusual look flashed across the Dark Demonic Dragonâs eyes.
A war between gods and demons wasnât something uncommon.
As adversaries, fights would break out between gods and demons whenever they encountered each other.
In fact, god-demon wars involving all the deities and all the demons in the Void and swept through the entire Void would break out every once in a while.
Thus, there was nothing that strange about god-demon wars. What the Dark Demonic Dragon was concerned about was what these god-demon wars left behind, such as their dead bodies, their weapons, their divine cores, their riches...
All of these were things to be coveted!
âLooks like thereâs a need for me to make a trip to Heavenâs Vault Continent!â
An unusual glint flashed in the Dark Demonic Dragonâs eyes. It was no big deal, even if it ended up making a wasted trip anyway. It was nothing more than just wasting some time that it couldâve spent sleeping instead.
On the other hand, it would strike gold if it really did discover anything exceptional in Heavenâs Vault Continent.
The moment the thought occurred to it, the Dark Demonic Dragon transformed into its human form and exited the cave.
âBaker, assemble the remaining Demon Lords and Great Demon Lords. They are to follow me to Heavenâs Vault Continent. We shall exterminate those goddamn human deities and flatten that low-end material plane!â
âAs per the Grandmasterâs orders!â
Overjoyed, Baker quickly went to assemble the demons.
Before long, all the other Demon Lords and Great Demon Lords under the Dark Demonic Dragonâs command assembled and, under the Dark Demonic Dragonâs lead, headed toward the Camor Plateaus where the teleportation magic circle leading to Heavenâs Vault Continent was.
The demons moved very quickly. Before long, they had arrived at the Camor Plateaus. Unexpectedly, just as they arrived at the teleportation magic circle, the magic circle showed signs of fluctuations, and then Meng Lei and the others appeared within.
âEh?â
Both parties were slightly taken aback as their eyes met. Evidently, neither had expected to run into each other.
Baker, who was among the demon masses, was the first to regain his senses. It glared at Meng Lei and shouted, âDamned human demon, to think you actually dare to make your way here!â
âWho are you?â
Meng Lei stared at Baker, somewhat weirded out. He could swear that he had never seen that guy before.
âDamned human deity, have you already forgotten that you killed one of my demonic incarnations?â
Baker gnashed its teeth in a fury, hatred filling its eyes.
âI donât remember.â
Meng Lei waved lightly, his gaze sweeping across the demons one by one before finally stopping at Cyrus, the Dark Demonic Dragon.
Among the dozens of demons present, Cyrus gave off the strongest demonic might. Much like the blazing sun in the sky, it couldnât get any more obvious.
In comparison, while the Demon Lords and Great Demon Lords boasted large numbers, they were just like stars in the sky. How could they possibly outshine the blazing sun?
Cyrus also stared at Meng Lei and the others, a look of disbelief flitting across his eyes.
âNo wonder Baker and Anton werenât a match for all of you. Youâre certainly not that inferior!â
âSo, youâre Cyrus the Demon God?â asked a leisurely and smiling Meng Lei.
âHow dare a tiny little lesser deity utter Lord Demon Godâs name!â
A Great Demon Lord covered in blood-red armor and with ram horns on its head glared at Meng Lei. The aura around it churned and surged as it barked, âGet on your knees!â
As it spoke, the energy flow around it also manifested into a solid form and crushed down on Meng Lei like a mountain, as though trying to flatten him to the ground.
âHow dare you affront Master! Die!â
Bubbles let out a furious roar and smashed his fist mercilessly toward the Great Demon Lord.
Both parties werenât very far from each other. Moreover, Bubbles had attacked out of the blue. Thus, the Great Demon Lord couldnât react in time and took the punch in the head.
Crack!
As a crisp crack rang out, the Great Demon Lordâs head was instantly blasted apart into a mist of blood.
Weirdly enough, the Great Demon Lordâs head was bizarrely restored to its original state after being blasted into a bloody mist.
âItâs actually alright despite that punch?â
Bubbles looked dumbfounded.
Meng Lei and his true god subordinates also looked at the Great Demon Lord with astonishment.
To think it was actually fine and dandy after taking an all-out punch from Bubbles! How tough and durable!
âYou damned deity!â
The Great Demon Lord was glaring furiously at Bubbles, however. Flames of fury blazed fiercely in its eyes as it roared, âHow dare you wound me! Die! Die!â
Roar!
The Great Demon Lord instantly expanded into a 1,000-feet-tall Bloodseeker and charged madly toward Bubbles.
âItâs a Bloodseeker! No wonder it didnât die!â
Bubbles brazenly met the Great Demon Lord head-on.
Boom!
Both parties clashed in an instant.
Bloodseekers were demons whose demonic body was formed from blood. They didnât have any specific kind of physical body and were a fluid lifeform. Thus, they were immune to most physical attacks.
That characteristic alone greatly restricted Bubbles. Bubbles couldnât do anything about the Bloodseeker at all despite his terrifying physical strength.
Moreover, Bubbles had ultimately only just assimilated his divine core and was a lesser deity of the weakest class. How could he possibly be a match for the enraged Bloodseeker?
After a series of entanglements, Bubbles was gradually outmatched. Surrounded by perils, he was completely in a disadvantageous position.
âMaster, Iâll go and help Bubbles out!â
At the sight, Sacas hastily requested.
âGo!â
Meng Lei waved lightly. Sacas charged toward them right away. At the sight, another demon also flew out from the demon party. It was a winged demon with a pair of black wings on its back and ram horns on its head.
âThinking of fighting two against one? Human deities are indeed despicable!â Ludwig, the winged demon, stood in Sacasâ way and sneered.
âGet lost!â
Sacas let out a low roar and began to battle Ludwig.
âGo, all of you can attack, too!â
Meng Lei gave an order with a wave.
âYes, Master!â
Nadja, the Spider Goddess, the Swirling Snow Sword Saint, and the others also charged out fearlessly.
Cyrus said dispassionately, âGo. Give them a good time.â
âYes, Lord Demon God!â
Boom!
