Chapter 701: Vexthraâs Worries [Bonus]
After the battle with the BlazeFang Wolf, Kent started to see how slight carelessness or, in his case, overconfidence could cost oneâs life.
The domain he was traversing wasnât as easy as he had thought. It had been five hours since he arrived at Flame Valley and began traversing it, and so far, he had already faced seven flame beasts, each showing him the danger he had found himself in.
He was strong enough to kill them easily, but the survival instinct of the beasts was something he was seeing for the first time.
Kent didnât even know if this was him being paranoid, but he began to wonder whether his idea of traversing the Flame Valley through the core region was a good idea or a bad one.
However, after every kill, the thrill of facing an even more harrowing beast than the one he had already killed overcame his reasoning, causing him to push forward, even going so far as to wish for more harrowing dangers.
He tried to make sense of where this thrill was coming from, but in the end, he could only conclude that he was crazy.
There was no denying that his craziness was flowing through his blood, so he could only accept himself and resolve that he would move through the thick and thin to get to his destination.
An hour later, Kent met his next target, a stag that wanted to bathe him in flames, but learning from his previous mistakes, he took care of it. A few seconds after killing the stag, Vexthra contacted him through the harem link.
âWhat are you doing now?â
Kent smiled broadly.
[Are you missing me so badly that you canât sleep? It is already 9 p.m. here, Vexthra⊠Get some sleep,]
Vexthra, who was indeed missing the brat, blushed⊠however, before she could reply, the air around her grew hotter. The next second, she was in Kentâs arms.
âHuhâŠâ The goddess was taken aback, appearing in a domain of fireâŠ
âNo need to be alarmed. Welcome to the Flame Valley,â Kent said, planting a kiss on her lips. Vexthra was really surprised, but being kissed by Kent helped calm her down.
âSo this is what youâre up to,â Vexthra asked, looking at the dead stag on the floor. She had already told her sisters she would be away for a few hours.
Being taken away suddenly might have startled them.
âIâm merely moving toward my destination; this place happens to be in my path,â Kent replied, hovering in the air with Vexthra in his arms.
âIâm 100% sure you could have gone around it and gotten to your destination much faster,â Vexthra smirked, knowing she was right.
It didnât take a genius to know the brat was making his own life difficult by traversing the vast expanse of scorching land.
Kent grinned, looking closely at Vexthra. âI happen to need flame spirits, so I might as well hunt for some on my way to my destination.â
Vexthra couldnât deny Kentâs reasoning, considering she would have done the same thing too if she were in Kentâs place.
The place is where most adventurers harvest flame spirit and sell to the alchemist at exaggerated prices, so instead of buying, which he could have, he wanted to get his own.
âWhatâs going on with your exploration of the Four Floating Islands?â Kent asked.
âWe found some battle styles on the third island, and thanks to Unity, theyâre learning itâwell, the ones using bow, spear, and swords are learning it since it was meant for themâŠ
And oh⊠Unity can now use the sword⊠crazy, right?â Vexthra said with a beaming smile.
Kent just smiled.
He had already experienced what it felt like to start recovering memories of his past life. So he was happy for Unity, knowing that this was all because of what Chaos had done during the Primordial Era.
Hearing that one of his wives was benefiting from it made him feel a sense of fulfillment.
His only concern is what all this ultimately means. Something this grand means the price might also be huge, so he worries about that. But for now, he is happyâŠ
âGood thing Unity is improving. Iâm sure soon they will all start to adapt to the changes, especially knowing they had past lives and that their memories from those past lives will begin to surface.â
Vexthra looked at Kent and nodded slightly. Kent smiled, planting a kiss on her lips.
âHow about you? Are you prepared for what the past will reveal?â Kent asked, and Vexthra sighed. She would be lying if she said she wasnât already looking forward to the day she would see a glimpse of the past.
She was indeed looking forward to that.
Her only worry now was whether learning about her past would change her current self for the worse. A few years ago, she was the embodiment of hate until she met Kent. The brat helped her understand what empathy, love, and other emotions feel like.
Then she met her sisters, and things turned even better for her. Now, she had learned her past memories could be retrieved using a key.
But she was worried that the moment those memories came back, she would revert to her former, resentful self.
Kent tightened his hold on her when he heard her answer to his question. He kissed her neck and, with a whisper, assured her, âNo need to worry about something like that, Vex⊠Memories arenât that scary⊠unless your past self was a crazy, psychotic, lunatic bastard who seemed to find joy in torturing you.â
âAre we still talking about me?â Vexthra asked, smiling. She could tell Kent was talking about himself, and from the look of things, Kent and his past self seemed to be having a problem.
This caused the amusing smile on her face to spread. Of course, that was what Kent wanted to see. He knew better than anyone how crazy past lives can be.
But even as crazy as Chaos was to him, he wasnât affected in any bad way. If anything, he had made significant progress thanks to Chaos.
So, Vexthra would be fine.
They spent a couple of hours discussing additional topics, which mostly involved Kent asking numerous questions about elemental cultivation. Then, he sent Vexthra away.
Kent spent a few moments analyzing how best to help his ladies when they start unlocking their memories.
âI guess when things start happening, I will know what to do.â Kent started moving deeper into the domain of fire, killing the flame beasts he encountered on the wayâŠ
