Chapter 711: Kent Madson [Bonus]
It was an instantaneous movement, one that happened in under a second. But that was all Kent needed to execute his move.
He first appeared before Aeric, and with a quick swing, he took off both hands at shoulder level. Kent didnât hesitate to go for that precise strike.
He moved and severed one arm and one leg from the second elf, a rather handsome blonde who had chosen to come against him. That didnât stop Kent from cutting them off.
Both his sword-wielding arm and dominant right leg were taken off before Kent appeared in front of the next one. He was a dark-haired elf, also handsome, like an elf should be. For him, Kent took both legs off and then appeared before the next guy.
Kent showed favoritism by not attacking the lady among them. But who could blame him⊠The elf lady was rather beautiful to be amputated all of a sudden.
It didnât sit well with Kent, so he went after the dudes. The lady would take them away for healing. The last one lost both arms just like Aeric.
Kent was back in his original position before many registered what had happened. When they all saw what happened, their eyes widened, fear gripping them.
The screams of the four who had just lost their limbs penetrated everyoneâs ears, drawing attention even from within the city.
But Kent wasnât done. He flicked his arm, and the severed limbs on the ground were burned, to the horror of everyone watching.
When the last limb was burnt to ash, Kent turned to the only remaining elfâthe lady.
âYou can take them away thanks to this young man saving their lives. Like I said, I would have killed all four of them and burned their bodies, leaving only their heads⊠But thanks to him, I will let them keep their lives for today.â
That said, you should tell your people something for me.â Kent smiled. âTell them I, Kent Madson, said, âI donât have a grudge against them, but if they choose to become dogs for the Hand, then I will have no problem cutting them down.â
That will be all, so run along.â
The elf lady, fear seeping into her soul, flew into the air, the four lifting off after her. With her impeccable control of spiritual Qi, she was able to carry them effortlessly.
After she was gone from sight, Kent turned to the guards.
âMy name is Kent Madson, a human from the Human Continent. I came here by crossing the treacherous Black Sea and traversing the Flame Valley through the Core region. So naturally, I have no plans of turning back now.
And as you all saw, I am an enemy of the Hand and a potential enemy of your kind. Of course, I have no plans to attack any Half-Elves, considering I am here to compete for a chance to enter the Flame Tower.
So let us all get along.â He ended his sentence with a smile, causing those who had just witnessed the public display of brutality to swallow nervously.
Kent didnât bother about their scared expressions. He was looking straight at the city gate. âWhat do you guys think? Are you opening the door, or should I introduce myself again?â
The guards exchanged uneasy glances, their hands subtly moving toward their weapons, though none dared to make the first move. The tension in the air was thick, like the calm before a storm.
Finally, the tallest among them stepped forward, his voice shaky but firm. âWe⊠we will open the gates. But we will have to escort you in. This is just a precaution in case you feel like pulling out your weapon again.â
Kent chuckled, amused by the guardâs words. âYou are funny. However, rest assured, I have no plans of pulling out my sword if you donât pull yours.â
âVery well. We will allow your entry.â
Kentâs lips curled into a confident smirk. âThatâs all I ask.â
With a slow, deliberate motion, the guards signaled for the massive iron gates to be unlocked. The guards had already informed their superiors, so allowing Kent in was to ensure he remained within the cityâs confines.
They donât want him running, in case their leaders wish to have him captured. After the gate opened, Kentâs eyes landed on a magnificent city spread into the distance.
However, his attention was immediately drawn to the five guards standing at the entrance to the city gate.
Just a glance was enough to tell Kent they were different from the ones outside
They had this danger in their gaze, one that Kent felt from some of the flame beasts he killed. That look told him quite enough.
Then, if that wasnât enough, their armor was deep black with reddish runic patterns on it. Per Kentâs knowledge, he knew the runes were for defense.
And, judging by how complex they looked, such runes wouldnât be found on an ordinary guardâs armor.
âThe king ordered the human named Kent Madson to be brought to the palace immediately,â one of the new guards shouted, drawing even more attention.
âOh, come on⊠At the very least, allow me to explore the city and take in the sights first. I also have to register for the competition,â Kent said, sounding like he had been dealt an injustice.
âThis is no longer a request. Follow us to the palace on your terms, or we will drag you there.â
âTsk,â Kent smirked and then stepped through the gate. But before he left with them, Kent turned and, without saying any names, shouted, âI will look for you guys later.â With that, he walked away, causing all those who saw Kentâs brutality to sigh.
âThat was intenseâŠâ
âIndeed. I felt like I was staring at the Demon King who came down from hell to eat us mortals.â
âI mean, arenât humans considered to be at the bottom of the food chain? If that is true, then how could one of them amputate four powerful Elves just like that?â
The question hung in the air as the wind carried it all over Elarion, reaching almost everyone, even before the end of the dayâŠ
