"Be patient, okay?" Ling Yunâs clone said to Yue Lian, who was impatiently looking forward to the arrival of the Night Howler Fiend. "Itâs still early now, so we should wait for nightfall."
Yue Lian nodded slightly. "I hope the beast will really appear, and Iâll tear its body to pieces to avenge my familyâs death."
"Hahaha." Yan Hu laughed at that. "Hey! Youâre a Moon Crap, remember? How are you going to tear apart the beastâs body without fangs and claws? Unlike you, Iâm the white flame tiger; my fangs and claws are very sharp."
"Humph!" Yue Lian snorted at her, raising both hands. "I may not have claws or fangs like you, but I have these two hands, and I will use them to tear the beastâs body into pieces. After that, I will drink its blood, and I will eat its flesh."
"Pft! Hahaha!" Yan Hu laughed out loud after Yue Lian said that. "Trust me, you wonât like that beastâs blood, and youâll definitely vomit from it. As for the beast meat, my master will help you cook it first, so you wonât vomit when you eat it."
Ling Yunâs clone could only shake his head listening to them, and he took the two of them to leave the place.
A while later, they had arrived at the Mirror Lake of The Forgotten. Yan Hu jumped down from Ling Yunâs clone, took off her clothes, and jumped into the lake directly.
*Splash*
"Phwah!" Yan Hu tried to drink water from the lake before shouting. "Master, come here, swim with me! The water in this lake is truly refreshing and rich in Qi, unlike the black sea in the Chaos Dragon Domain!"
"You can swim by yourself." Ling Yunâs clone squatted at the side of the lake, dipped his hand into it, and observed the surrounding area. "Hmm? I sense something unusual from this lake, but I canât locate the source."
"Master! Iâll try checking the bottom of the lake." Without waiting for an answer, Yan Hu quickly dove into the lake.
Yue Lian walked to his side and asked him, "Do you think the story is true?"
"You mean the memories of those who died in the tragedy?"
"Yes." Yue Lian nodded at them.
Ling Yunâs clone thought for a moment before nodding slightly. "Some stories are fictional, like the movies in my home realm, but some others are based on real events that were deliberately written into stories. Honestly, I didnât know anything about cultivation in the past, and I started to get to know it after Ling Xi saved me from death."
"Huh?" Yue Lian was surprised to hear this because she had only known Ling Yunâs clone for a few days and was unaware of his past. "Did you really almost die in the past?"
"Weird, right?" Yue Lian nodded to Ling Yunâs clone. "It happened three years ago based on outside time, andâ"
"What do you mean based on outside time?" Yue Lian looked confused by that.
"Hahaha." Ling Yunâs clone laughed softly. "Youâve never been to my residence in the Boundless Heaven Domain, so you donât know that the flow of time in my residence is ten times faster than the outside, which happened because the Time Lord, Huang Lingzhu, deliberately accelerated the flow of time there for our sake. If not for that, my cultivation might not have reached this stage, and my wifeâs cultivation would definitely still be far from the Five God Realms."
"I see." Yue Lian was no longer surprised to hear about Huang Lingzhu, especially since she already knew about Sheng Mei. "How did you almost die?"
"Youâve met Wen Qing, right?" Yue Lian nodded to Ling Yunâs clone. "At that time, I was just a poor ordinary human, and I worked as a male prostitute to meet the needs of both my mother and myself. She was my last customer, and her husband found out about her decision to hire my services. He caught us red-handed and ordered his subordinates to beat me up, and they threw me into a dark ravine, where I later met Ling Xi. Since then, my life has changed completely, especially after she taught me how to cultivate and gave me the Primordial Chaos Dragon Bloodline."
Yue Lian could only shake his head hearing that. "Your death would have been absolutely ridiculous if Ling Xi hadnât saved you."
"Hahaha." Ling Yunâs clone laughed as he nodded. "Youâre right. Honestly, I thought I was dead at that moment because my injury was severe and it felt like all my bones were shattered. However, Huang Lingzhu didnât want me to die, and she sent Ling Xi to save me."
"Huang Lingzhu? Why would she save a mortal like you?"
Ling Yunâs clone shook his head. "Itâs a long story, and I would rather not discuss it now. Once youâve lived with us long enough, youâll know much more about our situation."
"Master!" Ling Yunâs clone and Yue Lian turned to Yan Hu, who had just returned to the surface. She then threw a crystal at him. "I found it at the bottom of this lake, and there are thousands more there."
Ling Yunâs clone immediately caught and examined the crystal. "Do you know what kind of crystal this is?"
"A memory crystal." Ling Yunâs clone turned to Yue Lian, who took the crystal from him and explained it to him. "This crystal only exists in this realm, and you can find many of them in the southern mine. We can use this crystal to store our important memories, and we can view them again whenever we want, so we will never forget them."
"Could it be that those dead people already stored their memories in this crystal before their deaths?"
"Thatâs probably true." Yue Lian touched the crystal and used her Qi to activate it. The crystal suddenly glowed and floated into the air, displaying the memories of a woman.
As he saw the memories, Ling Yunâs clone said to Yan Hu. "Dive to the bottom again and get some more crystals."
"Yes, Master." Yan Hu hurriedly carried out his order.
"The woman in this memory looked so happy when she was alive, and she never seemed to think that a disaster would occur and kill her," Yue Lian spoke.
Ling Yunâs clone nodded. "Weâve been up there for three days, and Iâve memorized the faces of everyone whoâs still alive there, so this woman must indeed be one of the victims of that disaster. Life is always unpredictable, and we can die at any time without us realizing it, either because of other people or because of nature."
*Splash*
Yan Hu suddenly jumped out of the lake before throwing hundreds of memory crystals before them. "Do you want to take all the crystals, Master? There are too many of them, and Iâll have to dive several more times to retrieve them all."
"Couldnât you just put them into your storage ring?" Yue Lian asked her.
"Hehehe." Yan Hu giggled and showed her fingers. "See? I donât have a storage ring because it would melt every time I use my white flame, which would just waste profound stones."
"I think theyâre enough." Ling Yunâs clone took one of the crystals and activated it, and memories of a middle-aged man appeared before them.
Yan Hu jumped onto Ling Yunâs cloneâs back and hugged his neck. "What are you really looking for, Master? Why do you want to watch the memories of these dead people?"
"I just want to know what kind of disaster wiped out half of those peopleâs population, especially since they donât want to talk about it anymore." Ling Yunâs clone immediately used his Qi to envelop those crystals and activated them at the same time, causing hundreds of memories to appear in front of them.
"There!" Yan Hu pointed to one of the memories. "That seems like the disaster that happened at that time, Master."
"Yeah." Ling Yunâs clone and Yue Lian immediately looked at the memory, where darkness fell over the Staircase of Heaven. They could hear the horrified screams of the people at that time, and many of them were begging for someone or something to spare them. Even so, the two of them couldnât see any figures, especially since the entire area was covered by darkness. "Even my void eyes canât penetrate that darkness."
"This is just a memory and not real, so your void eyes will be useless, Master."
Ling Yunâs clone nodded in agreement to Yan Hu. "Where did the darkness actually come from? Who attacked them at that time?"
"Only the people up there knew about it, but they deliberately concealed the incident from outsiders." Yue Lian answered him.
"Yeah." After that, they deactivated those crystals, and Ling Yunâs clone sent them back to the lake. "Letâs look around this domain while waiting for nightfall."
"Master! Go over there!" Yan Hu pointed in one direction. "I smelled a delicious smell from the city in that direction, so I wanted to see and taste it."
"Haha!" Ling Yunâs clone laughed at that. "What a gluttonous tiger! Youâre always thinking about food!"
.
.
.
The sun quickly set, and night was approaching. Ling Yunâs clone brought Yan Hu and Yue Lian back to the top of the Staircase of Heaven, and they saw the people from there already ready to fight against the Night Howler Fiend.
"Young master, look at the moon." Ling Yunâs clone followed Ruan Xianjinâs words and looked at the moon. "As we expected, the Night Howler Fiend will indeed appear today, but we canât be sure of its exact location."
"I see." Ling Yunâs clone immediately contacted Po Tianyuan, Long Shuiya, and Jiao Jin, asking them to prepare. "You guys donât need to think about other areas, and we just need to focus on this place."
