Chapter 1974: Hand Over the Qe Mingmu

Chapter 1974: Chapter 1974: Hand Over the Qe Mingmu

Even if they had a hundred, a thousand guts, they wouldn’t dare.

Meanwhile, the Great Elder finally understood why those shadows on the outskirts during the Eternal Night Time refrained from nearing—apparently, those shades feared the High Priest Demon Heart.

“High Priest, rest assured that no one in the Eternal Night Sect will oppose Nichen as the Young Sect Master.”

And even if there were any, he wouldn’t allow these people to come whining before the High Priest Demon Heart, unnecessarily troubling the High Priest and tarnishing his reputation, would he?

“Nichen was personally chosen by me as the Young Sect Master, no one dares to oppose.”

“That is well.”

An Jiuyue nodded in satisfaction.

“In that case, please bother the Leng Sect to make arrangements for Leng Nicen. He has just returned, and the ceremony of recognizing ancestors and returning to the clan is indispensable, right?”

“Indeed, everything has already been arranged for three days from now,” Sect Master Leng said.

This had been prepared already, and for Leng Nicen’s return ceremony, he had even made an exception to open the Qe Mingmu space.

“After recognizing his ancestors and returning to the clan, he will lead the way, opening the Qe Mingmu space to search for treasures within,”

he said.

“There’s no need to open the Qe Mingmu space.”

Upon mentioning the Qe Mingmu space, a chill spread across An Jiuyue’s expression.

“Leng Ye, hand over the Qe Mingmu to me for safekeeping for now.”

“Ah?”

Leng Ye was genuinely taken aback.

Hand over the Qe Mingmu—what did this mean?

Wasn’t the Qe Mingmu the treasure given by the High Priest Demon Heart to their Leng family, with explicit instructions for them to guard it generation after generation? Was it now to be handed over?

He did not really have any objections, for while the Qe Mingmu had brought them considerable benefits, it had also made them the target of covetous eyes.

After handing it over, he would certainly have less to worry about, but he imagined the trouble it would bring to the Eternal Night Sect would be substantial. The most immediate issue would be that crops would grow more slowly.

“Is the High Priest planning to reclaim the Qe Mingmu?” he asked softly.

Both the elders couldn’t believe what they were hearing, as they looked at An Jiuyue. The Qe Mingmu was the treasured relic of their Eternal Night Sect—would the Sect Master really hand it over just like that?

Although An Jiuyue claimed she was the High Priest Demon Heart, what if she wasn’t? Could she be scheming to swindle the Qe Mingmu from them?

“It’s not exactly reclaiming.”

An Jiuyue offered a rare explanation.

“I have a use for the Qe Mingmu, and once it has served its purpose, I will naturally return it to you. However, this process may take a few years. Once that time has passed, the Qe Mingmu will be returned to you,”

“Very well, I will retrieve the Qe Mingmu right away,”

“Sect Master, this…”

As Leng Ye promptly responded and was prepared to turn around to fetch the Qe Mingmu, the Second Elder spoke up.

He really wanted to say that the woman might be attempting to deceive them for the Qe Mingmu, but naturally, he didn’t dare to say so in the presence of the very person, so he could only look on with a slightly dark expression, wanting to stop their Sect Master from leaving.

“Second Elder, come with me.”

Sect Master Leng naturally understood what he wanted to say. To prevent him from offending the High Priest Demon Heart, he decisively invited him to come along.

“Great Elder, please take care of the two venerables while I am away. I shall return shortly.”

“Yes, Sect Master,”

the Great Elder replied, still somewhat confused.

How did it come to be that bringing back a life-saving benefactor would result in the loss of the Qe Mingmu? And with it, the inability to proceed with the forthcoming opening of the Qe Mingmu space—how was he to explain this to their Sect Master’s Young Sect Master and the Elder Disciples?
