Your mother.
Rael cleared his throat. âRoger sent me. I met him when I first arrived here.â
âYou arrivedâŚ?â The guard tilted his head, lowering his spear. âShow me your arms.â
âSure?â Rael extended his arms forward, and the guard grabbed hold of them, neatly inspecting them.
Is he looking for that Hollow Touch infection thingy? Rael thought, as the guard finished his inspection and stepped back.
However, that poker face seemed a bit alarming.
âOkay, strip.â
Raelâs expression hardened as he looked the exhausted guard straight in the eyes.
âNo.â
âI need to check the other areas, so if you donât strip, Iâm not letting you in.â The guard shrugged. âThe lurkers become very active during these hours, so for your own safety, Iâd get this over and done with.â
You want to play that game, donât youâŚ? Rael let out a sigh as he proceeded to buy one neat little product.
â˘âPremium Shopââ˘
Category: Toxic/Alcohol
â˘âBalance: 6,522,363 Trellââ˘
⢠Wine which aged for 1,000 years because the procrastinating magician thought it wasnât ready yet (Rare): 5,000 Trell
Pretty cheap, Rael hummed as a red bottle of wine appeared in his hands, startling the guard.
âI believe we can make do with this? Itâs pretty tasty from what Iâve heard.â Rael tilted the bottle, threatening to drop it. âOf course, if you donât want it, thenââ
âFine!â The guard shot forward, gently grabbing the bottle from Raelâs hands and warily glancing at him. âIâll get in a lot of trouble if you do something stupid, so please refrain from that. Also, Roger is an important man, so whenever he comes back, heâll have a word with you.â
âRoger wonât be coming back.â Rael broke the news. âHe was infected at the time I met him, and he was on his way⌠you know where.â
The guard flinched, then suddenly chucked the wine bottle into his inventory and turned toward the massive open gate behind him.
âFollow meâweâre going to see the chieftain.â
Immediately, the guard sprinted off, and Rael trailed close behind.
The gate seemed simple enough, with a massive plank lowered by a mechanism, while the entire encampment was surrounded by water.
And as he ran on the plank, he noticed that the drop would definitely get most people killedâmaybe even him.
Nonetheless, after a few short moments of running, they arrived at the inner part of the encampment, and then, the guard ran to the side before flicking a switch.
In an instant, the massive plank retracted itself upward, shutting the hole in the gate closed.
At the same time, Rael noticed a few shadowy figures falling from the plank and tumbling down into the water below.
Rest in pieces, Rael noted, as he took a deep breath and glanced around.
Tents, tattered brick buildings, and even a few fancy mansions in the distance.
There was everything.
Yet the people didnât look as great, as most seemed malnourished, tired, and literally on the brink of death.
Hmm⌠Iâll give them some bread after Iâm done here. Rael thought and continued following the guard until, eventually, they reached one of the mansions he had seen a moment ago.
Some windows were broken, but it was still fancy.
Though that smell⌠Raelâs brows furrowed. Itâs blood. A lot of blood.
But since the guard didnât seem fazed, Rael followed him inside, passed through the halls, and entered the living room.
On a massive couch lay a handsome man with peculiar black hair and red eyes.
He was surrounded by two women, who had bite marks on their necks.
Raelâs eyes widened as a certain suspicion grew.
Donât tell meâŚ
âThalor, The Vampire Noble (General Class Boss) [Level 198] [102,992,001/298,661,722 HP]
I can see his name and level⌠is it because of the Primordial Sight skill? Rael pondered.
His Inspect Monster skill was around level 40 now, and he could definitely not see this many levels above him under normal circumstances.
But if the Inspect function was upgraded because of his Primordial Sight, thenâŚ
âThalor, Iâve brought a newbie over,â the guard stated, earning a disinterested glare from Thalor.
âIs that so? Greetings to you, and I hope you can carry out your duties just as well as your human counterparts,â Thalor said with a smile as a wave of pressure washed over Rael again.
However, like the previous times, he wasnât affected.
The girls, however, ran off, leaving just the three of them here.
âAnywaysâŚâ The guard broke the awkward atmosphere. âI barged in so suddenly because Roger has died.â
Upon hearing that, Thalor froze, his red eyes trembling.
âMy brother is deadâŚ? WhatâŚ?â
The guard nodded. âThis person here saw Rogerâs last moments, from what Iâve been told. He also said that Roger was infected.â
A heavy silence ensued, broken by a single sigh from Thalor.
âI always had my suspicions that he was infected⌠but then again, I guess it was my own stupidity for believing everything was going to be fine.â
Thalor turned to Rael and stood up before approaching him.
âWhatever your name may be, I thank you. Roger is my blood brother, so if heâs really dead, then Iâll have to prepare the funeral for tomorrow.â
âI see⌠This might not be the right time, but could you answer some questions?â Rael narrowed his eyes. âHow do I get out of here?â
âYou canât.â Thalor shook his head. âIâve looked far and wide and so have the others. Thereâs no way out of here.â
Thatâs pure bullshit, just like Rogerâs rambling. Rael scoffed. âI asked Roger this, but he couldnât give me a straight answer. But how long have you been in this place?â
âI believe youâve already noticed, but Iâm a vampire,â Thalor said, showing his fangs. âWe live for thousands of years on average, and I arrived here as a baby⌠so around 417 years ago.â
No information about an exit in 417 yearsâŚ
Rael simply didnât buy it.
However, he didnât voice it out loud, as despite this vampire being friendly, at the slightest provocation, Thalor might turn on Rael.
Though I could just cover this entire place in garlicâthat might do the trick⌠if the kidâs books werenât bullshitting me, of course. Rael thought as he nodded at Thalor.
However, just as he was about to ask another question, a siren blared, followed by a deep voice loudly repeating itself.
âINFECTED! INFECTED! INFECTED!
âAnother oneâŚâ Thalor let out a sigh, turning to Rael.
âNew guy, follow me.â
