Rael finally arrived at Karinaâs location, and it looked like Reinhardt, as well as the barbarians, had already gone toward the source of the explosion.
He approached her and sat down in the seat opposite her.
âKarina, I have another mission for you,â Rael said seriously.
Karina tilted her head. âAster, I hope you realize there are limits to what I can do.â
Rael furrowed his brows.
Obviously, he could try using Synaptic Hijack on Reinhardt or the others. However, there were simply too many unforeseen variables.
I could probably win against them in their minds and take over their bodies. Deleting their memories is also possible, but⊠he trailed off with a sigh.
What if these talks had already been documented back in their lands? Or what if they exchanged private information through the friend messaging system?
As tempted as he was, and as much as he liked gambling, this wasnât the time. Heâd break the talks some other way that would seem legit.
If Zafira hadnât pointed out the flaws in my plan earlier, then I wouldâve likely done something drasticâŠ
This was a complicated situation, and he didnât want any implications, so he once again brought his attention to Karina.
âYou might have some physical limits, sure. However, you can freely run your mouth, no?â Rael asked.
She nodded skeptically. âDo you want me to gossip?â
âSomething like that,â Rael affirmed as he crossed his legs and stared straight into her emerald eyes. âI want you to directly confront them and mention a certain something.â
âThat certain something beingâŠ?â
Rael took a deep breath and began explaining.
âYou see⊠Ogarak had once fought a battle against Aztera and the other countries, right? But there was only one reason why they were able to last that long,â Rael said, glancing around and making sure no one heard him.
He leaned in and whispered. âThe barbarians had an axe that was gifted to them by a higher being. That axe was what nearly got them their win. However, the wielder was killed, and the axe was nowhere to be seen ever again.â
Normally, that would be the end of it. But this time, that wasnât the case.
âThe people of Aztera sealed the axe away in an ancient tomb right outside the capital city, Veltharin. Itâs just a massive pyramid, hard to miss. At the very bottom of it lies that very same axe you can access after entering a certain code.â
Rael leaned back in his chair and let out a sigh, noting the amazement on Karinaâs face.
âThis is really something⊠you will turn them against each other by offering their ancient weapon back, right?â Karina remarked. âBut what if they⊠you know⊠comply?â
He shrugged. âNow this is where it gets tricky. That axe is like an energy source, and it fuels the entire desert region. Whether it be Aztera or Drivania, they both get benefits. If the axe were to disappear, both those countries would lose a significant part of themselves.â
Rael grinned. âIn simple terms, this is the ultimate trump card that I had hoped to play much, much later.â
He had some more blackmail material for the rest of the countries and kingdoms. In fact, he had quite a lot of dirt on Yrgon.
But as long as they didnât become enemies, Rael wouldnât have to resort to any extreme measures.
Nonetheless, Rael proceeded to simplify everything for Karina, giving her a literal bullet-point presentation on what to say and how to say it.
And after just a few minutes, she was ready.
âAnd youâre sure this plan is going to work?â Karina asked one final time.
âIf it doesnât work, then Iâll have to resort to more serious methods,â Rael said plainly. âJust go. They should be by the stables. Keep me informed.â
âSure~â She waved and began jogging away.
In the meantime, Rael decided to slowly trail behind and observe everything from a distance.
Smoke rose into the sky, and bit by bit, more people were gathering to check out the commotion.
It seemed like some water mages and the priests of light had arrived, as one party was dealing with the fires and the other with the injured.
And of course, there were three people standing with frowns on their faces, watching the entire fiasco unfold.
But most importantly, there was Karina, who walked up to them and tapped the female barbarian on the shoulder.
She began speaking, and Rael could practically feel the pressure in the air rising.
The buff barbarian man suddenly glanced toward Reinhardt, a giant frown on his face.
In the meantime, Karina continued speaking while also sending him a message.
<Karina: Theyâre skeptical, but the story does seem believable. That Reinhardt guy isnât denying it either.>
Good⊠Rael nodded in satisfaction as he watched the female barbarian pull out her twin axes.
Throw it at Reinhardtâs fat fucking forehead⊠do itâ
Raelâs thoughts were interrupted when, all of a sudden, the buff barbarian stomped the ground.
In the very next moment, he took his axe off his back and then swung it in an arc, sending a ferocious blast of mana everywhere.
What the fuck? Raelâs eyes widened as he just barely managed to jump up in time to dodge the attack.
On the other hand, Karina wasnât so lucky as her body disintegrated into particles.
<Friend: Karina has died!>
Oof⊠Rael whistled. I guess I know she didnât say any bullshit if thatâs their reaction.
She likely mentioned the location and a piece of the code. The barbarians got angry and lashed out.
That type of deal.
Nonetheless, Rael observed the surroundings from the rooftop he was on.
The stable had fallen, and most of the nearby buildings within a couple hundred meters had collapsed.
And just as he had that thought, the rooftop he was on collapsed as well.
Rael gently landed on the ground, and as he did, he saw Reinhardt and the buff barbarian zip past him, crashing into the rubble.
The barbarian woman was also about to jump into the fight. But before she could, Rael appeared right in front of her and tapped her on the forehead.
âLetâs have a little chat, shall we?â
