Chapter 189: Intimidation And Killing
A completely red mind realm entered his sight, but that was only because there was a blood moon right above.
Rael stared at it for a few moments and then brought his gaze back onto the two cocoons.
He walked up to the two cocoons and placed his hand on both of them. Immediately, his vision shifted.
However, he wasnât in either of their bodies. Instead, he was in his own mind realm, with the cocoons now gone, replaced by the actual bodies of the people whose minds he had invaded.
One was a burly man with an extremely scarred face, basically unrecognizable. And the other was a girl wearing a white mask.
They both had flowing white hair, and from the few features he was able to make out, their eyes were white too.
That was the signature appearance of the Evangelists, and frankly, Rael wasnât even surprised.
âYou two have been very naughty,â Rael remarked. âCare to tell me why you did what you did?â
The moment his words fell, the two Evangelists finally noticed him, immediately entering defensive stances and glancing in his direction with malice.
âWho are you?â the woman asked warily. âMind realm invasion⊠thatâs very high-class magic. Are you one of the founders?â
âNot exactly.â Rael tilted his head. âIâm one of the people who cares about the person youâve kidnapped.â
âQiqi XuâŠ? Your appearanceâŠâ she said, her voice beginning to tremble.
The man who stood beside her slowly recoiled, his eyes widening in shock as his raspy, demonic voice echoed.
âRael Sutekh? King of Celestara?â
âThat would be me.â Rael bowed with a wide grin and slowly approached the two. âBut you havenât answered my question. So unless you donât want to live past today, I recommend you do so.â
âWe were only following orders,â the woman replied, stepping back to put space between them. âThe higher-ups told us to take care of the Holy Kingdomâs loose ends. Qiqi Xu and Linlin Xu just so happen to be the ones who go against our interests.â
Rael nodded slowly. So someoneâs not happy that there are two potential successors running around⊠I see.
âI appreciate the honesty. Truly,â Rael said. âBut that doesnât change the fact that youâve done something wrong.â
His cold words loomed in the air, but soon, a pair of pop-ups descended.
Huh. I wish I could enter the lethal mode at will. Would save me a lot of time. Rael thought, and in the very next moment, summoned thousands of swords around the two Evangelists.
âIf you tell me who it was that sent you, then I will kill you painlessly. If you donât, then all 3,249 swords are going to split in two and go right up your asses,â Rael added menacingly.
The two Evangelists flinched, but instead of fighting back, they both fell to their knees as if they were bowing in reverence.
âPlease spare us,â the woman pleaded. âWe could work as spies and feed you intel from inside the Evangelists. Thatâs worth more than killing us, right?â
âNo.â Rael shook his head. âBut not because your proposal doesnât sound interesting. Iâm declining simply because itâs not possible.â
The womanâs brows twitched, and just as she was about to speak up, Rael interjected.
âYou slimy fuckers have those weird chips embedded in your brains. The moment you even think of betrayal, your brains get melted. Thatâs how I know youâre not being genuine.â
Well⊠also because I can tell when someoneâs lying. But thatâs beside the point.
The two Evangelists remained silent for a few moments before finally bursting out into laughter.
âPfft⊠hahah⊠yeah, you got us there,â the woman remarked, standing upright. âSo what now? Youâre going to kill us? Do you think thatâs going to be the end of it?â
Rael shrugged. âThere are a lot of you. But do you want to know something funny?â
âWhat? You plan to unite all the kingdoms in this summit to go against us?â the woman teased. âJokeâs on you, none of them will agree. Why? We keep the churches in check. We keep the demons at bay. And we have enough power to rival all of you.â
âOh no, not that.â Rael shook his head and narrowed his eyes. âThough I wonder⊠how is Drivania treating you? It must be fun being in control of an entire kingdom. But I guess thatâs one of the benefits of being able to mimic someone like that. No one even realized the actual king had died.â
Following his words, a deadly silence hung in the air, yet he knew for a fact that he struck a nerve.
Why?
WellâŠ
âNo one knows. But Iâm sure the âkingâ of Drivania will be present today. So Iâm sure you can imagine how much fun Iâll have soon.â
With those words, Rael brought his arm down, sending thousands of swords hurtling toward the two Evangelists.
Perhaps out of shock or acceptance, they simply gave up and closed their eyes.
But not before leaving behind a few words.
âWe will soon open the ancient portal, and when we do, the eternal eclipse will swallow this entire world wholeâŠâ
With that, the thousands of swords crashed down on the two of them, destroying their bodies in an instant.
Eternal eclipse⊠That sounds like what the Mindweaver had told me about⊠Rael thought, and glanced at the pop-ups that fell.
<Ding!>
Soon, his vision returned, and he found himself standing in front of the shocked Linlin once more.
âThe people responsible are dead now,â Rael announced, clutching his head, which had begun to throb for some reason.
âI-Is she safe?â Linlin asked expectantly.
âYup, sheâs fine. Follow me,â Rael replied and began leading her to the opposite side of the alley.
There was a single manhole cover, and Rael merely stomped it down into the sewers below and glanced back at Linlin with a knowing smile.
âAfter you.â
