Chapter 296: Healing, And A Miracle
Rael was on the bed, waiting for the kid to finish healing him.
The kidâs name was Julian, and he genuinely offered free healing services.
âOuchâŚâ Rael mumbled as Julian passed his healing skill over his lungs, restoring them, but causing considerable pain.
Still, Rael pushed through the pain and glanced to the side.
<Youâve reached Level 25!>
<+8 Free Stat Points>
Hmm⌠I have 27 free stat points now,
Rael thought.
As much as Iâd like to put them into stats other than Constitution, I think my fighting style is way too masochistic already. Might as well be a tough masochist.
With that in mind, he adjusted his stats accordingly.
Free Stat Points: 27 â 0
Constitution: 53 (+20) â 80 (+20)
He immediately felt the healing kick in as the pain in his lungs faded, replaced by a soothing sensation.
The silver claymore he got off the guy he killed was pretty overpowered, giving him extra stats.
And in the end, his stats looked like this:

Still no option to evolve my class, just what am I missing?
He was sure it wouldâve popped up by now.
If not at level 10, then at level 20.
Level 25 was the last level where he had some hope, and now, he was fully expecting there to be some other way to evolve aside from reaching a set level.
<World #2221 will undergo a second awakening in: 84 days.>
<Requirements to survive the second awakening>
1. Reach level 50. (Incomplete | 25 / 50)
2. Evolve your class once. (Incomplete)
3. Kill 1 human. (Completed)
He tried clicking on the
Evolve your class once
pop-up, and to his surprise, it actually showed.
<Requirements to Evolve the class: Mildly Inconvenient (Common | Utility)>
1. Cause 250 people to slip. (Incomplete | 88 / 250)
2. Evade 100 projectiles without getting hit. (Incomplete | 9 / 100)
3. Use the Pocket Gremlin skill 5 times. (Incomplete | 1 / 5)
Oh⌠Iâm actually not that far off, eh?
Rael thought, having decided one thing in particular.
None of these required actual combat situations, so he could just ask the siblings to throw stuff at him, and even slip them from time to time.
Basically, it was only a matter of time until he could evolve his class.
He did feel a little stupid for not trying to press on it earlier, though.
StillâŚ
âThanks, I think thatâs enough,â Rael said, slowly getting up.
Julian tilted his head. âAre you sure? Iâm not done yet.â
âItâs fine, the rest will heal in a bit,â Rael replied plainly. âInstead, can you take a look at those two?â
Julian turned around, glancing at Jane, who was missing an eye, and Milos, who was missing an arm.
A moment later, he let out a sigh.
âSir, I can only heal the girl. My healing powers are not strong enough to regrow an arm.â
That comment made Jane flinch, but even so, one person being healed out of the two was not bad at all.
âDo whatever you can,â Rael instructed.
And with that, Julian got off the bed and walked over to Jane, placing his hand over her eye.
A warm energy coursed through his palm and entered Janeâs eyelid.
Then, a moment later, Rael watched her eye reform as the nerves and everything else were connected.
And within seconds, Julian was done.
Jane closed her eye as it began to twitch, but a moment later, she reopened it.
To Raelâs surprise, he saw something oddly familiar happen to her.
One of her eyes was blue, the same one which hadnât been destroyed.
Then the other, which had just been regrown, was silver, practically colorless.
Before Rael could wonder further, Julian spoke up.
âUm⌠I think because of the destruction of her eye, she lost the natural color pigmentation⌠I donât think I can restore the color, but your vision should be fine.â
Jane paused for a few moments, staring blankly into open space before nodding.
âYes⌠itâs fine. You donât need to worry about the color. Iâll just think of it as a war scar,â she said with a giggle, then bowed. âThank you, Julian.â
A faint smile appeared on Julianâs face.
âItâs a pleasure, donât worry⌠though I do have to apologize.â
Jane tilted her head. âWhat for?â
Julian lowered his head, as if in shame. âI⌠The only reason I came here was to put you two to sleep so the thugs outside could kill you.â
âDonât worry about those men, I dealt with them,â Rael stated. âAnd itâs fine, donât let it weigh on your conscience. Youâre just a kid. They manipulated you.â
Julianâs brows furrowed. âIâm 18. Iâm not a kid. And it wasnât manipulation⌠it was more like a threat. If I didnât do what they said, they wouldâve killed me.â
This pipsqueak is 18? No fucking way,
Rael thought, not showing it on his face.
âMidgetâŚâ Milos muttered, then swiftly covered his mouth.
ââŚâ
Julian let out a sigh.
âItâs fine, I used to get that a lot in the field of medicine,â he said plainly. âYou see, people tend to hate it when someone younger outperforms them in every way. That was pretty much my whole life, so Iâm honestly glad the world ended, since at least now, I wonât have to worry about my peers putting laxatives in my coffee before an important surgery.â
âWoah, dude⌠thatâs a little fucked up,â Rael remarked, trying his best not to laugh.
Julian shrugged. âThough I really wish I couldâve seen the miracle that happened just before the world ended.â
Rael tilted his head. âWhat miracle is that?â
âA patient that had been in a coma for nearly 15 years had woken up. She had miraculously survived a plane crash, and she was basically the golden child all of us doctors were taking care of,â Julian replied with a slight smile.
A dull headache began gnawing at Rael as he grabbed his forehead, letting out a groan.
That description was eerily familiar, yet he couldnât piece it together no matter how much he tried.
Rael met Julianâs gaze as he began rubbing his temples, trying to ease the headache.
Yet it didnât pass, and neither did the feeling of familiarity.
Itâs like a wall⌠a memory block maybe?
Rael wondered as a determined look appeared on his face.
âHey⌠you donât happen to know her name, do you?â
