Chapter 321: The Three Halos
<00:00>
<Ding!>
<The Blood Moon Arena has designated 9 individuals as Chosen Heroes. They now have miniature halos above their heads, signifying their status.>
<Objective: Kill the Chosen Heroes>
The moment the last of the pop-ups fell, Rael saw a thin blue halo emerge above the heads of Maria, Rain, and Alisa.
Further ahead, 3 more people received orange halos, and the last group of 3 received green halos.
They were all the Chosen Heroes, and thankfully, Rael didnât recognize any of them.
âSo, uhh⊠what do we do?â Maria mused. âThe green beans have over a hundred people. Theyâre definitely going to fight to survive.â
âThen why donât you go ahead and mind control them?â Rain suggested with a scoff. âIt wouldnât be the first time you controlled innocent masses, right?â
âTrue.â Maria nodded playfully before turning to Alisa. âI should do that, shouldnât I? Hey, your name is Alisa, right? I saw that you used to be a gymnast. You failed pretty miserably, but at least you have the reflexes. Still, can you go ahead and kill those with the orange halos? They donât have many people, just like us, and they seem pretty weak.â
Alisaâs expression darkened. âYou saw into my mind?â
âA neat trick of mine, yes,â Maria replied. âDonât worry, I wonât tell them about the fact that you âaccidentallyâ poisoned your opponents to win the nationals⊠whoops?â
Alisa lunged at Maria but was stopped by Julian.
âY-You bitch! How dare you!â Alisa yelled. âJust know this⊠when we win, Iâm going to find you and kill you.â
âSame,â Rain chimed in.
Yet when they turned toward Rael for input, he was already gone.
In fact, he had made his way over to Orange team and stood right behind them.
They seemed scrawny at a glance, but their strength was definitely nothing to scoff at.
At least, for everyone but Rael.
Two of them were mages, while the last one was a tank.
I assume heâs hiding his armor,
Rael thought.
No way would my instincts tell me I wouldnât be able to instantly kill this guy otherwise.
Still, for the sake of being sportsmanlike, he reappeared beside them and coughed.
âHey. Itâs aââ
His words were interrupted by a volley of spells shooting his way.
Raelâs eyes widened.
These two mages can instantly cast their spellsâŠ? Fuck, thatâs broken.
Even so, Rael entered the Soul Realm at the last moment, approached one of the mages, and wrapped his arms around the mageâs neck.
He exited the Soul Realm and then simply tightened his grip, causing a loud crack to resound throughout the air as one of the mages dropped to the ground, lifeless.

That wasnât difficult at all,
Rael thought with a slight frown.
It seemed like people still hadnât found a way to counter his Soul Realm strategy.
Of course, the skill wasnât omnipotent. He could at most enter and exit the Soul Realm 3 or 4 times before suffering side effects.
He didnât know what those side effects were. He never went beyond his limits, though he remembered feeling dizzy, and his mana was being drained rapidly on his 4th time exiting the Soul Realm.
Rael brought his gaze toward the remaining two heroes.
And of course, he used one of his new main damage skills.
<Lurking Scythe has been activated!>
<Reaper Physique Bonus!>
<x2.5 Skill Duration | x2.5 Skill Power>
A much larger scythe appeared, heading for them.
Yet just as it was about to pierce through the tank, the mage waved his hand in the air, canceling Raelâs skill.
<The opponent has used Counter Spell!>
<Your skill has been canceled, and may not be used again for 60 seconds!>
Huh⊠thatâs also overpowered.
Still, Rael didnât panic as he unsheathed his sword, aiming it right at them.
âYou know⊠I was going to propose an alliance of sorts. But oh well, thatâs too late now,â Rael said plainly.
âAn alliance? In this place?â the mage scoffed. âDonât you see all these beings gathered around, watching us like we are some kind of guinea pigs?â
âSo?â Rael tilted his head. âEven if they are watching us like guinea pigs, why would that stop us from allying?â
The mageâs gaze sharpened, but before he could speak up, the tank spoke up instead.
âHeâs a religious bloke, donât mind him. And yes, we wouldâve been open to allying. However, you ruined that by killing Frederick.â
âI seeâŠâ Rael sighed. âSo be it then.â
The moment Rael finished his words, he entered the Soul Realm, and without even wasting a single moment, reappeared behind the tank.
Since both of them were expecting the mage to be attacked, they let their guard down.
And because of that, Rael exited the Soul Realm and stabbed his sword straight through the tankâs neck.
There was some resistance, but his Soulhook skill countered it as it executed enemies below 10% HP.

<Enough souls have been harvested!>
<Choose: [Minor Stat Gain] or [Extra Experience Gain]>
Rael didnât press anything yet as he turned toward the remaining mage.
He raised his hands, creating a shield. But that didnât stop Rael. He threw the sword with full strength, fracturing the shield and driving the sword into the mageâs heart.

And just like thatâŠ

<The Chosen of the Orange team have been eliminated.>
It was a simple message, yet it shook everyone present.
After all, it took Rael less than 30 seconds to kill every single one of them.
Rael crouched down and retrieved his sword before taking a glance toward Green team.
He was about to head for them next, howeverâŠ
