Chapter 379: Encounter, And Armory
Rael hummed in satisfaction as he approached the door, then swung it open. Immediately, a long hallway came into view, and of course, he had no idea where he was going.
Even so, he picked a random side, which just so happened to be the left, and then began walking in that direction.
It was getting a bit annoying to limp around like this, but he couldnât help it. Healing Jashin out of nowhere was a stupid move that could easily be noticed.
Still, Rael finally arrived at a crossing and turned left again. He continued walking until, eventually, he spotted a single guard patrolling the halls.
Once the guard spotted Rael, he froze, then curtly bowed.
âGreetings, Fifth Seat. I apologize for not noticing you sooner,â the guard said, then rose, meeting Raelâs eyes. âWhat is it youâre looking for at such a time? Even esteemed beings such as yourself need rest.â
âWould you believe me if I told you I was looking for the bathroom?â Rael mused.
The guardâs brows twitched. âUh⊠Sir?â
âIâm kidding. The First Seat told me to do an inspection on the armory, if you know what I mean,â Rael added, a look of scorn appearing on his face. âI guess now that Iâm weaker, they think they can treat me however they want, huh?â
Then, he glanced at the guard. âWhat about you? Do you think you can treat me like trash since Iâm not as strong as the others?â
The guard bowed. âNot at all, Fifth Seat. Weâre servants of the Blazing Sun faction, and no matter your current power, you have our undying loyalty. If you tell me to stab myself through the heart, then I shall do so.â
âAlright. Do it then,â Rael said with a slight smile, startling the guard.
ââŠPardon?â
âStab yourself. Prove your loyalty to me,â Rael urged. âYou can do that much, canât you? Or do you wave around loyalty like itâs nothing because maybe youâre not truly loyal?â
The guard remained stunned for a few moments. All of a sudden, he raised his sword and met Raelâs gaze.
Then, with a single thrust, he stabbed himself through the heart, falling to the ground with a determined yet lifeless look.
I seeâŠ
Rael tilted his head.
So theyâre either brainwashed, or something of the like. Thatâs good to know.
Rael didnât linger as he leaned down and stored the guardâs weapon inside Jashinâs inventory.
Of course, he picked the guard up and tossed him inside one of the nearby rooms, which just so happened to be a single bathroom.
So with that, he continued forward, trying not to arouse any more suspicion.
Or that was the plan, anyway. But then, a sudden tug at his sleeve sent him flying into a nearby wall.
Rael groaned, and once his vision cleared up, he saw who was responsible.
Petra Talen, the buff Second Seat whose strength was truly on another level.
He had a sword strapped to his waist, and if he were to use it, Rael would be dead in seconds.
HoweverâŠ
âSup.â Petra waved. âHow does it feel being back to Grade 1 again? Must feel shitty, doesnât it?â
Rael was about to reply when he remembered a few characteristic traits of Jashin.
<Personality: Prideful, manipulative, calculating.>
âPetra. Is there something you need from me?â Rael asked coldly. âBecause if thereâs nothing, then I suggest you let me go.â
âOh? And if I donât?â Petra mused with a wide smile. âRemember all those times you thought you were better than me? What did you call it again⊠experience. Because you were older, you were stronger. But how the tables have turned⊠pffttâŠâ
Oh fuck offâŠ
Rael rolled his eyes inwardly.
Why did I have to get in the middle of these guysâ rivalry? Couldnât you have resolved this three fucking months ago?
âSo what? Did that inferiority complex finally kick in?â Rael asked, narrowing his eyes. âBecause as I see it, youâre the same Petra you were all those years ago, seeking approval from those around you like some annoying mosquito.â
Rael pushed Petraâs arm away and took a step forward.
âNow, if youâve come here to bask in my last days of being one of the Five Seats, then do it elsewhere. Iâm going out for a drink,â Rael added, and pushed past Petra.
He limped away despite the immense pressure behind him.
But the look on Petraâs face was priceless.
It was one of disbelief, anger, and jealousy. Rael didnât know what Jashin had done to Petra, but clearly, the inferiority complex stemmed pretty deep.
So Jashin is older than Petra, and at some point, he was stronger. Now Petra is much strongerâŠ
Rael sighed.
How annoying.
Rael shot a glance at the motionless Petra, and then turned the corner, arriving in some sort of cafeteria.
He was lost.
But that was when he remembered something he had overlooked.
There was one very easy way to get information, so he opened a certain interface.
<Premium Facade>
âYou can now buy the identities of the forgotten!
Jonathan Light: Golden hair, golden eyes. Abnormally strong, like an ogre. Loud and obnoxious.
âł Information: Former member of the Blazing Sun Knight Brigade. He was tasked with clearing out a civilian encampment. Upon not being able to go through with it, he was executed for treason.
Identity cost: 55,000,000 Trell
Rael bought it without hesitation, and soon enoughâŠ
<You have successfully taken the identity of Jonathan Light!>
At the same time, memories flooded his mind, but unlike before, he let them in.
He filtered through the annoying memories, and only kept the memories of how things were run here, as well as the location and map of the Silver Palace itself.
And while he likely couldâve bought a map from the Premium Shop, having some more information was always better.
He closed his eyes and focused on the map. It didnât take long to locate the Vault, or rather, the armory.
And thankfully, it wasnât that far away, so within five minutes, he had arrived.
There was a giant metallic door, and in front of it stood two menacing guards, but when they noticed Rael, they bowed.
âGreetings, Fifth Seat. To what do weââ
âUnlock the armory,â Rael interjected. âI wish to go inside.â
