Chapter 495: Inside the Silver Willow Tree?
Raelâs vision returned within a few seconds. The moment it did, he was met with a surprisingly beautiful sight.
The sky was a pale lime color, riddled with an endless array of stars. They came in all shapes and sizes, casting light across the entire realm. The ground was soft, covered in multicolored grass. It resembled the view he had seen right before entering the Silver Willow Tree.
The area was surprisingly silent, except for the distant sound of rustling leaves and water striking the ground. Yet no matter where he looked, he couldnât see a single waterfall.
It was neither warm nor cold. In fact, it was the perfect temperature.
Not only that, there were thousands of willow trees scattered around, with lakes surrounding them. All of them were different colors, but in the faraway distance there was a single Silver Willow Tree. It was the same one Rael had just entered through, but it was many times larger, towering over every single willow tree present.
Although he was a bit confused by the tree literally inviting him, he was satisfied nonetheless. He would be killing two birds with one stone. Meet Lucien, then find the reward Kareth had in mind.
Lucien better not be the reward⊠That would just be a little⊠I donât swing that way.
Anyhow, the scent of lavender hit his nose, and a moment later a certain wave of heat burned the smell away, leaving him smelling absolutely nothing. Of course, the dumb phoenix was responsible for doing that.
âWhat a neat place. I would definitely take a nap here if these bastards werenât trying to invade my mind,â Vatyra remarked.
He was confused for a moment, but once his gaze locked onto one of the willow trees by the side, he soon realized what she was talking about.
A soothing whistle resounded from the tree, and every time the pitch heightened, he felt a portion of his memories being altered.
He hadnât felt this way when Lucien did it. However, it was clear now, almost as if he had gotten a certain immunity to memory altering.
ThoughâŠ
These cocksucking trees are trying to erase the memory of my sister? Really?
Safe to say, these trees were a bunch of idiots and he didnât even need to think too hard to get rid of their influence.
So long as he was aware that it was happening, they couldnât alter his memories.
But with that behind him, he turned back to Vatyra. âWhat now?â
âHuh? You led me here,â Vatyra replied, baffled. âActing like Iâm supposed to know what this place is⊠Tsk.â
Rael raised a brow. âYouâve never been here?â
âNope. We Supreme Monsters donât exactly go down to our own continents that often,â Vatyra said absentmindedly. âLife up above is a bit nicer.â
âAhaâŠâ Rael nodded slowly. âOn that topic⊠What are the Far Lands?â
âNot telling you.â Vatyra scoffed. âJust âcause Iâm acting nice doesnât mean Iâll spill our secrets.â
Rael smiled before shrugging. âWorth a shot. Anyways, letâs go toward the Silver Willow Tree, I guess? It did invite us here.â
She looked at him, annoyed. Clearly, she had no intention of staying around. She just wanted to teach him the technique and be on her merry way. However, his persistence was something even she couldnât overcome.
And itâs not like she can kill me now. Kareth designated me as his successor. Not officially, but itâs pretty damn close.
With each step they took, the ground hardened, and the influence those willow trees had on his mind increased. But of course, he didnât care much, since by now he was passively warding off their influence.
However, when they were only a few hundred meters away from the Silver Willow Tree, a figure emerged from a nearby pond.
It was a silver-haired woman with a blindfold. She was fairly skinny and wore a black ceremonial dress. Rather, it looked like she was dressed for a funeral.
Rael tried inspecting her, but to his surprise,he couldnât.
From Vatyraâs slight groan, he figured she knew who the woman was. But, alas, he didnât need to wonder for long, as the woman finally spoke.
âI am Sylvia, the guardian of the Silver Willow Tree. Itâs a pleasure to welcome you two to the Willow Realm.â Sylvia bowed curtly.
âWillow RealmâŠ?â Rael mumbled. âA realm for trees?â
âFor concepts,â Sylvia corrected. âThe number of realms that exist is only to be interpreted by your vast imagination. Nonetheless, I wish you two would accompany me.â
âTsk⊠All you guardians look the same.â Vatyra clicked her tongue. âYou shouldâve gained independence after the ancient primordials were killed, so whatâs with this obedience act?â
Sylvia halted, turning toward Vatyra and flashing a slight smile.
âYou have insufficient authority to request that information.â
âHmm?â Rael picked up on her words immediately.

Thatâs exactly what my system says whenever I try to ask it some serious questionsâŠ? Is this a coincidence?
Rael wondered.
But if he learned anything across his time spent in this new world, then nothing that happened to him was a coincidence.
So whatever this system thing is, itâs connected to the ancient primordials? Iâll have to go buy a textbook about them after Iâm done here in the Depths⊠Really need to get Chop-E too. Canât forget him.
Of course, it didnât really hurt to ask the two very wise people before him.
âWho are the ancient primordials?â
âYou have insufficient authority to request that information.â
âGroup of old bastards who get a boner from turning mortal worlds into playgrounds.â Vatyra scoffed. âTheyâre all dead now though.â
âWere they strong?â
âIndeed. Very strong.â Vatyra chuckled, then raised a single finger, pointing it at his face. âNow enough with the questionnaire. You keep sounding more and more like a stupid dragon.â
Rael rolled his eyes, but he did appreciate her honesty. It seemed like she was pretty open to talking about things that didnât directly relate to the Depths.
But for the time being, he put his curiosity aside and nodded at Sylvia who, despite her blindfold, could see clearly.
âSince we are already here, weâll accompany you.â
