Chapter 569: RIP Balls
Rael had stopped keeping track of time after a few months. Honestly, he really hoped that Beatrice would become some nice lady after a bit, but sadly, that wasnât the case.
âCan you buy another⊠whatâs it called again?â
âTelevision.â
âYeah, buy that one,â Beatrice urged. âThe remote slipped out of my hands last time. I couldnât help it.â
He glanced at the five TVs on the ground that had holes in them, then let out an exhausted breath.
âYouâre not getting anything else.â
The moment he said that, Rael created a thin thread of mana between him and Beatrice. It was nearly instant, and she had no time to react as he overtook her body.
All the while, since the thread of mana was still connected to his main body, Rael managed to not fall and even walk.
âYou know, Iâve been thinking over it, and it seems a little inefficient,â Rael said. âI mean, by using that thread, youâre kind of revealing yourself, arenât you?â
After all, with only his consciousness, he at the very least wouldnât leave behind a trace.
I wonder if this is just what the con is of the whole ordeal. Or maybe itâs because Iâm following in Beatriceâs steps that Iâm messing up a bit.
[What did you say?] Beatriceâs voice rang out inside his mind. [Why are you even invading my body anymore? Huh? You havenât changed your tactics from the last couple hundred times. You know Iâll just break out in a minute or two, right?]
She was, of course, not wrong. But his time in the Prophetical Realm wasnât wasted.
So when a few minutes passed and she sent her own thread of mana from her body to his, Rael intercepted it. He took control of it and then carefully reinforced his own thread.
It worked like a charm, and while she continued to panic inside her own mind, Rael forgot one crucial part.
In the grand scheme of things, this was like a duel between them, and when it came to a battle of mind games, it was all fair game.
And the one thing he had overlooked was her constant usage of this thread.
So when he lost connection to his own thread, as well as the mana he had been gathering, his body soon began to move all by itself again.
âWow, this was a lot easier than I thought it would be.â
Rael narrowed his eyes.
âBeatrice, and here I thought you would have something special for me.â
âIsnât this special?â Beatrice tilted her head, or rather, his head. âI took over your body, and you donât have enough mana to fight back against me.â
She put a hand on his chin. âI wonder⊠Should I turn you into a eunuch or a pirate? Which one do you prefer?â
Before Rael could even reply, Beatrice suddenly walked up to him and then banged his head against hers. For some reason, even with all his stats likely being higher than hers, his head began to bleed.
On the other hand, while he was inside her body, he didnât feel even an ounce of pain.
And just like that, his body once again fell limp, followed by Rael being pushed out of Beatriceâs body once more.
When he opened his eyes, he felt a stinging sensation on his forehead, and when he looked up, he met her cheeky grin.
âI decided to spare you because you have a wife, or two, I guess. If youâre ever going to have children, then⊠well, I donât want to be a homewrecker,â she said.
It was a bit odd seeing her like this. After all, their first meeting was pretty hectic. The way they parted was even more hectic, considering he was on the verge of killing her before Evelyn stepped in.
But even so, with the injury she had just caused him⊠she won the game Evelyn had proposed to them.
âSo what now?â Rael asked. âI mean, you won. Do you want some kind of reward? Was there even a reward to begin with?â
âHm? No,â Beatrice replied plainly. âMy sister might give me something special for beating you. You, on the other hand, wouldnât have gotten anything aside from experience.â
âOuch.â Rael sighed. âThough now that youâve won, care to tell me what I was doing wrong?â
âNope.â Beatrice shook her head. âThatâs for you to figure out. Though, I must say⊠the way you overtook my thread caught me a little off guard. If that was my intention from the start, then you might have won.â
But alas, he lost.
He couldnât even blame her for not telling him anything. To be honest, he had played out this exact scenario in the Prophetical Realm. He had seen her beating him a few times, and that was the outcome he was trying to avoid.
But no matter what he did, he felt like the only way he could beat her was by spending years in here. Would he want to spend years in here all alone with her? Probably not.
However, as silence overtook them once again, the two waited for Evelyn to speak up. Yet even after several minutes had passed, there was no word from her.
âShould we just break her pocket dimension?â Rael suggested, earning a bonk from Beatrice.
âDonât even think about it,â she replied. âSheâll probably come out. My sister is shy sometimes, so you might have to wait just a little longer than you should.â
He inwardly agreed and then sat down on his bed again.
An hour, ten hours, a day, a week, and then a month.
He was plenty patient, and yet, Beatrice finally began showing some panic.
âDo you think something happened to her? But ifâŠâ Beatrice mumbled. âHey, I think we really should break this damn thing.â
Hearing that, Rael inwardly apologized to Evelyn in advance. She did say not to touch it, but even after he tried reaching out to her countless times, it didnât work.
Even the spatial communication bubble was a dud.
But when that thought passed through his mind, he raised a brow.
Do we even need to break it? Canât we just re-enter the Ancient Mindweaver Realm?
