Evidently, despite Nyzzara being a powerful barbarian and someone who played around in water way too frequently, Rael kind of realized what her obsession with water was.
And that was the fact that she had no idea how to swim.
Every time she got too deep in the water, it would go up her nose and cause her to flap around helplessly.
Really⊠How could someone not know how to swim in this day and age?
âNyzzara, I hate to ask, but do you want me to buy you some kid floaties? You know, like something to wrap around your arms so you donât drown?â
Nyzzaraâs expression flushed red for a moment. Then it turned into one of anger.
âDo you think I canât swim? Iâm just⊠warming up.â
Okay.
âProve it then.â
Rael decided to step into the deeper end of the ocean, where only a few other barbarians were.
Sure, he was still able to touch the sand below, but Nyzzara wasnât.
Although he didnât think she had the courage to step forward and come to him, she proved him wrong. She began flapping like a chicken to stay afloat, but eventually, once she was just a single meter away from him, she sank under the water.
Rael waited for a second, then two. Once he saw bubbles coming up, he let out a sigh and grabbed her by her armpits as though she were a child, then held her up above the water.
Water and snot came out of her nose, and for a moment, she looked very stupid.
âYou know, I bet you could split the ocean if you wanted to. Is it just panic, or are you trying to be cutesy?â
âWhoâs trying to be cutesy? Why would I endanger my people over my incompetence?â
She wiped the snot off her face.
âAlso, itâs bold of you to say that when I havenât even seen you swim yet.â
âIs that rightâŠâ
Then Rael decided to prove her wrong.
While holding one of her arms, he began swimming on his back. The weight difference would normally be an issue, but by slightly cheating and using his Laws to make Nyzzara weightless, Rael managed to go deeper and deeper until eventually the ocean below him was nearly pitch black.
On the other hand, Nyzzara stared at him with a frightened look.
âDonât you dare let me go here.â
âHmm? Donât you want to swim as well?â Rael asked, floating effortlessly.
She nodded, then quickly shook her head.
But her first nod pretty much canceled her later refusal.
And yes, Rael was a harsh teacher, since he believed that when put in a situation where you were forced to adapt, youâd learn something very quickly.
Sure, he was being overly poetic, but that didnât stop him from releasing his grip on Nyzzaraâs hand, causing her to slowly sink into the water.
She flapped around, but her movements were a complete and total mess, so Rael decided to dive down and see what she was doing.
To his surprise, she wasnât even trying to move her legs. Also, she was moving her hands the other way around, so instead of bringing herself up, she was pushing herself down.
In short, this made him question her intelligence again.
But like the good lad that Rael was, he swam down toward her, pinched her cheek, and showed her how it was done.
In the heat of the moment, since all she could do was watch and drown, she paid a lot of attention to what he was doing, observing every single muscle movement, until finally, Rael was once again back up above the water.
Then he waited for a few seconds, which soon turned into a minute.
For a moment, he thought he had lost Nyzzara, and he might unfortunately have to take over and redesign the whole Barbarian Lands into one giant mall.
HmmâŠ
That didnât sound too bad?
âHuaaaaa!â
Just then, Nyzzaraâs head peeked out from the water as she began gasping for air. She surprisingly moved her arms and feet as she was supposed to, so she was safe from drowning.
Her panic also went away once she got enough air, and now she just glared at Rael. Her thoughts were basically displayed on her expression.
She wanted to either:
A) beat him up.
B) beat him up and then drown him.
Rael was sure she would choose the latter.
And he was right, as she suddenly mimicked his earlier swimming posture and began charging toward him.
He wasnât sure whether it was a joke or not, so Rael just grabbed her head and dunked her underwater. Perhaps he used too much strength, as he sent her several kilometers downward and also knocked her out.
Inwardly sighing, Rael dived down again, and after spotting the unconscious Nyzzara, he grabbed her and brought her back above the water.
It seemed like she had inhaled quite a lot of water, so like the professionally trained medic that Rael was, he patted her back, then did some basic CPR by pressing his hand against her chest, until eventually she spat out a mouthful of water.
He was honestly a little bit worried that she was this weak for a barbarian leader. Very vulnerable too, since right now she was just lying there in his arms with her bra barely holding on.
Rael let out a sigh and decided to flick her forehead, causing her to wake up and then kick off him.
She landed in the water and then just floated idly.
Though she clearly seemed pissed at Rael too.
AnyhowâŠ
âI think thatâs enough sulking for one day, donât you? Letâs go back and talk about how we should improve your living conditions, since while I donât want to be that guy, seeing you get so much money and still live in a tent pisses me off considerably.â
At Raelâs words, Nyzzaraâs brows twitched.
âWhatâs wrong with living in a tent?â
Rael nodded.
âWeâll start by fixing that first.â
