Chapter 942 942: Another Decision

Yet once the realization came, Rael’s eyes widened.

“What the…”

Isobel, rather than seeming dead, was simply passed out. Obviously, the injury that had just randomly been inflicted on her was severe, but not deadly. Was she immortal? Rather than immortal, could she have some degree of complete invincibility?

Whatever the case was, the person who had just descended from the sky walked up to Rael and sighed. It was none other than Gaia, and from the looks of things, as well as the slight boredom in her expression, he felt like he might’ve… miscommunicated a little?

“You didn’t miscommunicate anything. She was about to attack you, so I dealt with it. Now, as for what we’ll do afterwards, I’m not sure,” Gaia said, glancing down at Isobel.

Rael rubbed his forehead in exhaustion. “Right as I thought we’d have a free trip to doing nothing for several dozen years, this happened.”

“To be fair, I could’ve stopped you,” Nyx chimed in with an apologetic look. “I had known this was what they were up to, but I kind of wanted to see what would happen when they met you.”

Rael shrugged. “What’s done is done. I don’t really care. If this was always how it was going to turn out, then so be it. Though, if you knew about who the person in my Memory Record was, why didn’t you say anything?”

“…I didn’t really want to be wrong. I wasn’t sure whether it was an Ambassador, or just you from the past or the future. So yeah, I didn’t want to give you false hope, since you’ve been given that one too many times,” Nyx replied.

Before he could say anything, Gaia chimed in. “Had she given you false hope, you would’ve gone ahead and done whatever you did anyway. So don’t blame her. If anything, blame me for not figuring it out.”

Rael facepalmed. “Shut up, both of you. I’m not blaming either of you. Plus, it doesn’t matter. Just shackle her and let’s talk to her after she wakes up.”

With those words, Rael went ahead and glanced at the thousands of eyes before saying:

“We’re not going to kill her, so don’t come looking for us. If you do, then we’ll definitely kill her. Not sure who I’m talking to though, but if you know about my history or something, step up.”

Obviously, a few seconds passed with no one showing up, so Rael lost all hope in that regard and then turned back to Isobel. Despite the injury she suffered, she was healing pretty fast.

And of course, within just a few minutes, she was already back to normal.

Except in those few minutes, Nyx, Gaia, and Rael took the liberty of putting on some Law-restricting chains on her. Not to mention, her strength and communication were also restricted, to the point where she couldn’t even move a muscle.

And now, the three of them just stared at her skeptically.

“What did you do to me?” Isobel asked, puzzled. Glancing around, she was met with a kitchen, as well as a blonde-haired girl eating on the sofa nearby, not paying her any attention as she was way too preoccupied watching the TV.

That girl was none other than Evelyn, and after a good night’s rest, all she wanted to do was slack off all day before going back to work.

But on the other hand…

“Nothing much. For starters, what kind of information did you want, exactly?” Rael asked, leaning in slightly. “You give me some Solenne vibes. I remember she tried to lure me in with me being her informant or whatever, but as it so happens, she then went on to be the biggest bitch I’ve come across.”

For her to marry his son… Ugh. Rael didn’t like it one bit.

Still, he knew better than to underestimate these people. They weren’t weak like Solenne, and while Rael didn’t know the extent of their strength truly, he was sure every single one of them would be able to manhandle him.

That god Gaia was here.

“We don’t have any intention to use you. We only want to employ you. As an Ambassador of Reality, you’d be able to have much more leverage over the universe, and if that’s not enough, you would practically be exempt from any and all forms of punishment,” Isobel said.

Rael rolled his eyes. “So to become employed, I’d need to sign some sort of waiver, right? Or I guess, swear an oath I would never betray you?”

Feeling the slight spike in her heart rate, Rael got all the answers he needed. This really was the Solenne situation again, and that pissed Rael off greatly.

But at the end of the day, what could he do?

“Welp. What about a contracting clause? Instead of these oaths and shit, you can just call me whenever you need me. If I’m available, I’d stop by or whatever,” Rael posed.

Isobel thought about it for a moment, then sighed. “We need something binding, which would assure us that you’d never betray us.”

“Why would I never betray you?” Rael mused. “If you piss on my doorstep and expect kindness, I don’t want a contract holding me back from eradicating your whole realm.”

Before things could get too out of hand, Gaia stepped in front of him, then crouched down, meeting Isobel’s gaze.

“Forget his words just now. He’s not eradicating anything. Also, as for the terms of his proposal, why not allow him to work an internship? That doesn’t require an oath, and it can be extended however long one wants. That shouldn’t be an issue, correct?”

Isobel opened her mouth, then closed it. She didn’t think of that, but it was indeed a possibility. But possibility or not, this was not her choice to make.

“I would need to run this by my superior.”

Gaia smiled and then patted her on the shoulder. In the next instant, all her shackles were removed.

“Go speak to your superior. You have five minutes.”
