The Lord Mayor has summoned you.â
Suddenly, a squad that seemed to be the city guard forces surrounded Jia Yan and Kama.
These creatures did not appear hostile nor did they brandish any weapons, but the sheer number of them was not exactly friendly.
Kamaâs face displayed subtle changes; she unconsciously moved behind Jia Yan.
She knew that if a battle ensued, her combat power would not match that of the Big Mosquito who had recently returned to Star Space Level, thus she sought protection.
âYour Lord Mayor?
Could it be one of the three Lords of Star Level in your city?
I wonder what he wants with us.â
Jia Yan naturally stepped forward at this moment, moved in front of Kama, and softly addressed the dozen or so powerful creatures.
The strength of these creatures ranged between Earth Level and Sky Level, with even the leader holding power at Heavenly Peak.
Yet, Jia Yan was confident that he could easily defeat them all while protecting Kama.
However, this was the enemyâs stronghold, and Jia Yan didnât want to take risks.
If a fight did break out, he wouldnât be able to escape back to the flying machine.
In the vast Starry Sky, his combat power would be greatly diminished.
Thus, if a battle did commence, he would have to make a firm resolution to completely obliterate this so-called Starry Sky City!
That would be a monumental task, and he wasnât entirely sure of success.
The cost versus the reward did not align, leading Jia Yan to believe that avoiding battle was the better option.
âLead the way then,â Jia Yan decided, feeling that most scenarios in these so-called cities of the Starry Sky followed this pattern; he couldnât fathom what these creatures were thinking.
With no better choice, he decided to let the guard squad lead him there.
If it was a trap, his inherent creature instinct would give him a bit of forewarning.
Besides, taking a risk was necessary; the other party probably didnât know his identity, so the danger shouldnât be too great.
âYou are very wise,â said the captain of the guard forces, a monster very similar to a mermaid but with a face that was far from beautifulârather, it had the body of a fish, covered in scales, yet with two mouths on its face.
This monster, seeing Jia Yan seemingly weaken, disdainfully led the two forward.
Jia Yan followed nonchalantly, while Kama seemed uneasy behind, appearing nervous about encountering such a scenario.
Soon, the group arrived in front of a massive building.
The building had nothing mysterious about it but it covered about a kilometer and was more daunting in its height, towering over five thousand meters into the cityâs sky.
âWhatâs the matter?
Scared to go inside?â the Mermaid Monster glanced back at Jia Yan, who stood outside the building, unwilling to move.
Jia Yan glanced back and then spoke, âI have no dealings with the Lord Mayor, so Iâd rather not go inside.
After all, if your Lord Mayor truly wishes to see me, it would be reasonable for him to come out himself.â
His tone was indifferent; his words carried a calm disregard as if the highest seat of power in the city didnât affect him in the slightest.
Jia Yan could sense a strong sense of danger within the building; thus, he refused to enter.
A wise man does not stand under a crumbling wallâa principle that Jia Yan adhered to strictly.
If led by the nose into this dangerous building, it would contradict his own principles of conduct.
âHow daring!
For someone like you to instruct our Lord Mayor!â The Mermaid Monster displayed a look of indignation, and it, along with the other creatures, looked ready to draw their weapons.
âEnough, Captain Boer.
This lord is not someone you can afford to offend.â
Just as tension approached the breaking point, a calm voice echoed from within the building.
Shortly afterward, a Flying Monster flew out from the middle levels of the five-thousand-meter-tall building.
Jia Yan looked up at this monster, his eyes filled with confusion.
This creature possessed wings spanning over fifty metersâbigger than Jia Yan himself.
However, it appeared somewhat ancient, and a dense aura of decay emanated from it.
It didnât take long for this powerful entity to approach Jia Yan.
Jia Yan assessed the creatureâs power and realized that it was indeed at the Star Space Level, on the verge of a breakthrough into the mid-galaxy period!
It made sense that the one able to rule as the Mayor of Starry Sky City, would possess such formidable power, otherwise ruling over others would be difficult.
âMy friend, from the reports of my subordinates, I had thought you were merely at Heavenly Peak.
I didnât expectâŠâ The Lord Mayor, standing before Jia Yan, gazed at the young and powerful creature before him with a hint of envy.
Jia Yan had always been a creature of formidable life force; his youth among all the Star Space Level creatures was exceedingly notable, and this youth manifested as a rich life force.
Most creatures of the same rank were stunned upon seeing him.
âDidnât expect me to be at Star Space Level, did you?
Lord Mayor, if you merely wanted to meet me, then thereâs no further business, and we can be on our way, canât we?â Jia Yan took over the conversation, and facing such an aged being, he held no desire to fight.
