Chapter 479: Harem Morning Troubles ( 479 )
The morning sun filtered softly through the high, arched windows of the maidâs dining hall, casting gentle light across rows of neatly arranged white tablecloths and freshly prepared trays.
At the corner tableâdead silence.
Liana and Gloria sat side by side, their uniforms slightly disheveled, their meals untouched.
The steam from their soup had long faded.
Both girls bore dark circles under their eyes. Neither had slept.
Not a word had been spoken since they sat down.
Lianaâs hand twitched; her fork trembled above her plate.
Thenâstab.
She slammed her fork into the meat with violent force, the entire table rocking under the sudden burst of fury.
âJust you wait⊠young masterâŠâ she growled beneath her breath. âIâm going to kill those cats.â
Across from her, Gloria remained silent at first.
Then, slowly, she picked up her spoon and gently stirred her soupâsmiling.
But not a warm smile.
A terrifyingly calm, cold smile.
âThe other girlâŠâ she whispered softly. âIâll handle her personally.â
She scooped a spoonful of vegetables, her eyes never leaving the plate.
âIâll make sure sheâs bald the moment I meet her. How dare she kiss young master.â
Lianaâs fork trembled, digging deeper into the meat with each tremor.
âIt was supposed to be only us,â she muttered.
âOnly us who can kiss him,â Gloria echoed, voice steady as steel.
At the next table, two junior maids who had just sat down quietly gathered their trays and silently moved to the far corner, avoiding their gaze.
Everyone in the hall knew better than to sit too close when Liana and Gloria were in this state.
Back at their table, neither girl touched their food.
âLiana. Gloria.â
The voice cut through the tension like a whip cracking in the air.
Both girls immediately snapped to attention, backs straight as if glued to their chairs.
âYes, Mrs. Erinnette!â they answered in perfect unison.
The formidable head of the Armand householdâher arms folded, her gaze sharpâstood by the doorway, eyes inspecting them.
âFinish your breakfast and report to the training room afterward.â
âAs you command, Mrs. Erinnette.â
Their voices were crisp, respectful, yet beneath the surface, they radiated barely restrained chaos.
Erinnetteâs eyes narrowed slightly, sensing the storm brewing within.
But she said nothing more. Instead, her gaze shifted to the two maids at the far table who had moved earlier, lips trembling.
âAnd you two.â
The maids flinched.
âY-Yes, Mrs. Erinnette!?â
âFinish your meal,â she said coolly. âThen head to the main dining hall. The Lordâs family will begin their breakfast shortly. Youâre assigned to morning duty.â
âYes, Mrs. Erinnette!â they replied hurriedly, nearly in panic.
With a final nod, Erinnette turned and left the hall, her heels clicking ominously like distant thunder.
Once the door closed behind her, silence reclaimed the room.
Liana and Gloria slowly sat back down, stiff as statues.
They stared at their untouched meals.
Neither moved for several seconds.
ThenâLiana stabbed her fork into the same piece of meat again.
Gloria responded with a faint, cold smile.
Nothing had changed.
âSecond wife?â Liana said calmly, a sweet but dangerous smile curling on her lips as she turned slightly toward Gloria.
âYes, first wife?â Gloria responded just as sweetly, matching her smile with one that could cut steel.
Their spoons clinked softly against the porcelain as if in silent challenge.
âWe should finish breakfast and head straight to the training area,â Liana said smoothly. âLetâs clear level 99 today.â
Gloria nodded elegantly.
âThen weâll request official permission from Lord Garius to leave.â
Liana tilted her head slightly, eyes narrowing just a fraction.
âRight, Ari?â
Inside her, the celestial spirit flinched visibly.
ââŠErr⊠UhmâŠâ Ari sounded like she was desperately trying to shrink into the background.
Gloriaâs gaze shifted to her side, still smiling.
âAria?â
âEhhhh~ I donât know⊠Iâm still sleepyâŠâ the spirit whined softly inside.
âLiana?â
âYes, Gloria?â
Gloria folded her hands delicately on the table, her voice cool and composed.
âLetâs finish our breakfast.â
Liana smiled again.
âYes. Quickly.â
Both of them picked up their forks with perfect coordinationâmatched in grace, precision, and menace.
Across the room, the junior maids watched nervously as the very air around the two most terrifyingly elegant girls in the estate seemed to crackle with silent pressure.
By the time their trays were empty, the entire dining hall was eerily silent.
Meanwhile, in the Beastkin RegionâŠ
The sun had already risen, filtering hazily through the trees.
Morning dew clung to the grass, birds chirped softly, and a cool breeze carried the scent of wildflowers from distant hills.
It should have been a peaceful morning.
But not for Javier.
He lay stiffly on the grass, eyes wide open, completely unable to sleep â not with Mimi clinging to his side like a vine and Delya curled up on the other, arms and legs draped around him like a cozy, chaotic blanket.
He stared at the sky above, expression blank.
Last nightâs chaos still echoed in his mind⊠and Lianaâs furious voice echoed through his head like divine punishment.
Slowly, he turned his head toward the girls sleeping beside him.
ââŠWell,â he muttered under his breath. âIâm a man. I was Nakamura Junichi. Of course I like girls. Thatâs normal.â
A slight nod to himself.
âButâŠâ
He gazed upward again, sighing.
Liana was mad.
Pause.
Gloria too.
He sighed again.
âShit.â
âMmm⊠husband~ donât move too muchâ, Mimi murmured softly, snuggling deeper into his shoulder, her tail wrapping around his leg.
âDanna-sama~ so warmâŠâ Delya mumbled, hugging his chest tighter and letting out a sleepy sigh of satisfaction.
A few steps away, Buddy stood with a deadpan stare.
âCuquawked.â (Now youâve done it.)
Javier slowly turned his head toward his Pekko.
âUgh⊠I didnât ask for this, Buddy!â
âCuquawked!!â (Too late for excuses now!)
ââŠDamn birdâs got a point,â Javier muttered, resigned.
He tried to shift his position.
But the grip on both sides tightened like iron chains.
He sighed, staring once more at the soft clouds drifting lazily overhead.
âIâm doomed.â
