Chapter 651: Silent and Precise ( 651 )
Meanwhile, in the Armand estateâŠ
Javier was sprawled on the plush couch in one of the private lounges, grinning from ear to ear like a man who just won the entire continent.
His arms were tightly wrapped around Liana and Gloriaâone on each side, snug against him.
He buried his face into their hair, inhaling deeply.
âEhehe⊠this is paradiseâŠâ
Liana smiled softly, her hand gently stroking his arm. âYouâre too relaxed, young master.â
Gloria let out a quiet chuckle, adjusting her glasses as she leaned into him. âAra~ Youâve been like this since breakfast.â
âHmmm⊠canât help it,â Javier mumbled with pure bliss on his face. âYou both smell so goodâŠâ
Liana rolled her eyes playfully. âYouâre such a child sometimes.â
âIâm thirteen!â Javier protested, though it only made him sound more smug.
Gloria just smiled. âAnd yet acting like youâre three.â
Javier tightened his hug. âThen donât blame me for enjoying this. After everything Iâve been through, I deserve this moment.â
He closed his eyes.
Warmth.
Safety.
Their scent.
This⊠this was his paradise.
Knock knock.
Javierâs eyes twitched.
âUgh⊠who is it now?â he groaned, still buried between Liana and Gloria like a pampered prince.
The door creaked open, and the tall, ever-serious figure of Alf stepped inâimpeccably dressed as always, his expression unreadable.
âYoung master.â
Gulp.
Javier slowly turned his head like a guilty child.
âY-Yes, Mr. Alf?â
âYour father is calling for you,â Alf said, his tone flat. âTo his private chamber.â
Javier froze.
âErr⊠I-Iâll go later⊠maybe after lunchâŠâ
Alfâs eyes narrowed, not a single word spokenâbut the pressure in the room spiked instantly.
Javier stiffened.
âEeeekk!! I-Iâm going now!! Right now!!â he shouted, bolting upright and scrambling off the couch.
Liana and Gloria just smiled behind him, holding in their giggles.
âGood luck, young master,â Gloria said sweetly.
âTry not to die,â Liana added with a serene smile.
Javier could only shiver.
âWhy do I feel like Iâm walking into a trapâŠâ
Javier stood outside the heavy wooden door, his heart thudding softly.
Knock knock.
âCome in,â came Gariusâs calm but firm voice from within.
Javier inhaled, pushed the door open, and stepped inside. âEsteem father, Iâm here,â he said, bowing politely.
As he looked up, his eyes widened slightly.
Both Marcellus and Cedric were already thereâstanding straight, hands behind their backs, wearing identical stiff expressions that only meant one thing:
They were probably getting scolded like children before he arrived.
Marcellus gave Javier a quick side glance, face composed but eyes whispering âYouâre next.â
Cedric sighed quietly through his noseâshoulders relaxed, but the slight twitch in his brow betrayed it: He got the full lecture already.
Javier swallowed.
He took his place beside them without a word.
Garius sat at his desk, eyes calm, fingers interlocked, gaze sharp.
âWell then,â the Count of Armand said quietly, âsince all three of my brilliant sons are now presentâŠâ
Garius leaned back slightly, his eyes piercing through Javier as he spoke.
âJavier⊠did you read the mission scroll I gave you before?â
Javier scratched the back of his neck. âUh⊠still not yet, father.â
âGood,â Garius said flatly, not even blinking. âI have a new mission for you. Cedric and Marcellus already have their own assignments after this.â
Javier straightened up, tone respectful. âWhat is it, esteem father?â
Garius folded his arms on the table. âYou will be heading to the Armand border wallâthe one between our region and the Human Kingdom.â
Javierâs brows twitched. He already didnât like where this was going.
âOur informant secured an accurate report that a covert unit from King Edmundâs side will attempt to breach the Armand Region.â
Javier gulped silently.
âYour task will be easy.â Gariusâs voice was calm.
âLocate. And finish them all.â
Garius leaned forward slightly, gaze firm.
âAnd let me warn you, Javier. This mission⊠itâs related to the unit youâve been scouting with your drone system. The same ones that moved during the Halfling border attack.â
Javierâs expression sharpened.
âUnderstood, esteem father.â
âYou may go loud, or silent,â Garius added, his tone as cold and deliberate as ever. âYou choose.â
âSo, esteem fatherâŠâ Javier asked with a faint glint in his eye.
âHmm?â Garius replied, watching him carefully.
âI can go loud, right?â
âYes,â Garius nodded. âWipe them clean if needed.â
Javier grinned a little. âMay I see the report first?â
Garius gestured to a stack of documents on the table. âGo ahead.â
Javier stepped forward, picked it up, and skimmed through it quicklyâeyes narrowing at the marked coordinates.
ââŠTheir last known location was in Filin Forest, near the Armand border wall,â he muttered aloud.
âYes,â Garius confirmed. âThe terrain there is dense, but your detection drones have already mapped the blind spots. Use that to your advantage.â
Javier nodded slowly. âOkay⊠So, esteemed father?â
âHmm?â
âI can use anything I want, right?â
Garius leaned back slightly, arms crossed.
âI gave you full command for a reason. Bring whatever toys you feel necessary. Whether itâs your puppet units, mana drones, or those terrifying siege weapons youâve been hiding under your workshopâŠâ
He smirked.
âJust donât level the forest.â
âCeh⊠if I canât level the forestâŠâ Javier pouted, crossing his arms dramatically, âthen I canât use that.â
Garius raised a brow. âOh? That?â
Javier scratched his cheek with an innocent grin. âAh⊠yeah. Just something Iâve been working on. I call it the Mana Missile~â
Marcellus and Cedric immediately turned their heads.
âYou what?â Cedric asked, frowning.
âYou made a missile?â Marcellus squinted.
Javier chuckled nervously. âEhehe⊠yeah. I can fire it from the Armand manor if I want⊠direct trajectory, long-distance locked mana guidance, impact radius⊠well, depends.â
He paused, then added with a casual smirk, âLetâs just say, one shot could remove the entire Filin Forest if I wanted to.â
Garius sighed. âNo missiles.â
Gariusâs voice cut inâfirm, serious, final.
Javier froze mid-step. The tone alone brought him back to full attention.
He turned and bowed politely. âYes, esteem father.â
Garius folded his arms. âWe donât want any civilian casualties. That forest may look remote, but a kid could wander in searching for herbs. Secondâthereâs a monster population there weâve been managing. Theyâre useful for meat hunting and local trade.â
He paused, his gaze sharp. âAnd third⊠we donât level forests just to win. Thatâs not how Armand operates.â
Javier straightened, fully composed now.
âUnderstood, esteem father. Silent sweep and precision only.â
Garius gave a small nod. âGood. Now goâbefore Edmundâs rats burrow in too deep.â
