CapĂtulo 1017: Taunt, Catch, Electrocute ( 1017 )
Hesbeirn arrived at the clearingâs edge. âYou all wait here.â He glanced at the Pekko. âAnd you. Make sure our guest doesnât get any ideas.â
âCuquawked~!â The Pekko smirked from its beak, eyes glowing as it stared at the vampire.
âHah! This overgrown bird is nothing once my hands are free. Iâll kill it right here, along with all of you,â the vampire chuckled darkly.
The Armand Elite Knights looked at each other, then burst into loud, genuine laughter.
âThis weirdo thinks Pekko are easy to kill.â
âClearly heâs dumb~â
âYeah, totally agree. Whereâd he get that idea?â
One of the knights leaned in close, meeting the vampireâs furious gaze. âLet me tell you something interesting about this âovergrown bird.'â
Another joined in, his tone light but deadly serious. âWeâre Armand Elite Knights. And I doubt any of us could take down a Pekko this size without losing a man or two⊠if weâre lucky. Maybe getting wiped out entirely. And this isnât even General Hesbeirnâs personal mount. If it was? I doubt any of us would walk away.â
âYeah. These birds can use magic. Some legends say a fully grown one, like Sir Alfâs or the Generalâs, rivals a dragon in raw power.â
âDo some research next time, blood-man~â
âBlood!?â
âYeah. Vampires drink blood and hate garlic, right?â
Hesbeirn shook his head, watching the armored knight trade blows with the hydraâs snapping heads and deflect water-bomb spells with shimmering barriers.
He rubbed his chin. Hmm⊠looks like the bratâs invention is holding its own. Or maybe heâs just enjoying himself, testing its limits again.
âOi, brat. You good?â
âHmm?â The armored knight turned after punching one of the heads and repelling a water bomb with a shield of magic. âYeah, sort of⊠you taking over now?â
Hesbeirn crossed his arms and rubbed his chin. âHmm⊠if you want to take time to ana⊠what is it again?â
âAnalyze, Uncle. Itâs analyze.â Javier sighed while punching and kicking another hydra head that lunged in.
âLize or whatever.â Hesbeirn chuckled and stepped forward. âLet me show you how itâs done, boy.â
âWooo~ scary drunk uncle has arrived. Everyone clap.â The armored knight started clapping.
Hesbeirn stepped forward and stomped one heavy boot into the earth, a low smirk on his face.
âThis is how itâs done.â
He thumped a fist against his own chest plate.
âFirst, use skill: Taunt!â
âRoar!!!â A shockwave erupted from Hesbeirn as his body flared with a visible aura.
The hydraâs main head snapped toward him and lunged forward, the other heads following in a furious rush.
âSecond step: catch its main head.â Hesbeirn said casually, raising his palm and catching the hydraâs primary head mid-lunge, holding it there as if it weighed nothing.
âThird⊠before the other heads try to bite or swallow you, activate a lightning skill.â
Hesbeirn smirked. A crackling web of lightning erupted from his body, engulfing every head and coiling around the hydraâs massive form. The electricity surged through the water barrier, conducting violently across its scales, locking its muscles in spasms. The hydra thrashed, heads twitching uncontrollably as the lightning coursed through its nervous system, paralyzing it in place.
âWhile you keep it electrocuted, launch a binding-web skill over its whole body!â Hesbeirn shouted, his laugh edging into manic glee.
âOi, boy! You better have that fire ready!â
âHah!? Of course itâs ready. Look over there. One snap and it ignites.â
âFourth! After the web fully binds its body, activate another lightning to keep this bastard cooking!â
Hesbeirn jumped into the air while gripping the thick main rope of the binding web.
âAnd sixth!? Pull it out of the water! Bwahahahaha!â Hesbeirn laughed, hauling the web from the air and swinging the entire hydra out of the lake, slamming it onto the ground while the lightning continued to crackle across its paralyzed form.
The vampireâs eyes widened, jaw dropping as he watched the massive hydra twitching helplessly on the ground nearby.
How⊠how does Armand have so many monsters?!
How can a mere human alone⊠defeat a hydra like itâs nothing?
Iâm done⊠I should have listened to the others about not coming to Armand for this kill mission.
I thought humans were weaker than us demon-kin. Especially my vampire clan.
And nowâŠ
Once the huge hydra lay twitching on the ground, still crackling with Hesbeirnâs lightning skill, Hesbeirn smirked.
âOi, Uncle⊠you just skipped the fifth lesson?â The armored knight turned to face him, arms crossed.
âAh⊠sorry, boy. I just got excited. Itâs been so long since I hunted a hydra. I remember back when I hunted one with your father, my brother-in-law Alf, and my sister Erinnette when we were teens. Your father was the one who showed me how itâs done. Alf was the one who sliced it properly, and Erinnette cooked it. And when I tasted it⊠yummy yum yum~â
Javier just sighed, watching Hesbeirn drool while keeping the hydra electrocuted through the binding web.
âAlright, boy! Real sixth lesson! After itâs nice and tenderized⊠like this!â Hesbeirn smirked and raised his free hand, mana gathering in a pale, chilling glow. âWe encase the whole thing in a deep-freeze. Lock it in the ice~â
The massive hydra was now frozen solid in a block of ice.
Hesbeirn smirked, wiping his hands together.
âFire up the wood, brat!â
âYeah, yeah. Whatever.â Javier smirked back. The armor knight snapped its fingers, and the huge, prepared pile of timber a safe distance away roared to life with intense, controlled flames.
âNow, for the cooking lesson. How to make sure the poison burns clean.â Hesbeirn unsheathed his huge greatsword from his back and leaped onto the frozen hydra.
âFirst, cut the main head here!â He swung the blade in a clean, powerful arc, severing the largest head from the main body. He hurled the frozen chunk straight into the heart of the fire.
A thick, dark, almost living streams of toxic blood began to weep from the meat, sizzling and burning away the moment they touched the flames.
âBoy! Use your toy to turn the head around so the other side doesnât burn. We donât need to cook it here.â
âAlright, alright! You better leave me at least⊠one head. No, three. Iâve got my buddy here who needs meat.â
From the other side of the mana talkie, a sudden shout echoed. âOi, Buddy! Your drool! When did you get here!?â
