Mimi reached for a piece of meat with her hand and started eating with delight.
"Mimi, itâs not good to eat with your hand~" Javier smiled while hugging her from behind.
"Nya? I already washed my hands~" Mimi leaned back against his chest as he hugged her, giving her a playful kiss on the cheek while she munched on the meat.
"Really? Did you really wash your hands~?" Javier gave her a playful side glare.
Mimi glanced away, averting her eyes from him as she kept reaching for another piece of meat.
"Ehehehe~" Mimi grinned at him.
Javier just exhaled and hugged her, letting her eat.
"Ne~ ne~ husband~?" Mimi glanced up, her head leaning against his chest.
"Yes, Mimi?"
"What are you doing in here?"
"Work. Youâre also a princess, so you know about official duty, right?"
"Nya? Official duty?" Mimi munched on another piece of meat while eyeing the tall stack of documents.
"Donât touch the paperwork, okay? Since youâre eating with your hand~" Javier rested his chin on her head, rubbing it gently against her ear.
"Eheeheh~ That tickles~" Mimi giggled while reaching for another piece.
"Youâre not with everyone? Where are Liana and the others?" Javier asked, caressing her head.
"Nya? Oh. Theyâre all sleeping, nya. I tried to wake them up, but they wouldnât budge, so Mimi came here~"
She reached for a piece of meat and extended it toward his lips. "Nya! Husband, eat!"
"Mimi... I can eat it myself. Just eat it, okay?"
"Nya! Just this one!" Mimi puckered her lips, pushing the meat insistently toward his mouth.
Javier chuckled and leaned forward, letting Mimi feed him while she kept happily eating and feeding him bites in between.
"Ne ne? Husband?" Mimi turned and sat on his lap facing him, lifting the plate with the roast meat. She glanced up at him, biting her lower lip, her fangs showing slightly, her tail swaying slowly behind her.
"Yes, Mimi?" Javier glanced down at her.
"Can Mimi stay here while you work?" Mimi tilted her head, one finger on her lips, her eyes gleaming.
"Eh? Why not just join Liana and the others sleeping? Isnât it good to get proper rest after eating?" Javier smiled, looking into her eyes.
"Nya~! Mimi is bored. Nobody wants to play with me, nya..." Mimi puckered her lips, looking up at Javier with pleading eyes.
"But..." Javier said with a faint smile. "Iâm busy working here. You might get bored quickly."
"Pleeease~? I promise I wonât touch anything~ While everyone else is resting and sleeping, I have to play alone, nya! I built a tower with the books, the blocks, and the thing you prepared... nya... chest?"
"Chess... not chest."
"Nya! Tomato, potato, same~" Mimi munched on another piece of meat.
Javier let out a soft laugh. "No. Those two are not the same."
"Same, nya! Both are vegetables, and both arenât for eating raw. And both taste bad~"
Javier let out another soft laugh, shaking his head, entertained by how adorable she was.
"So... can I, nya?"
Javier exhaled and smiled while eating the food she fed him.
"Promise you wonât touch the paperwork and you wonât complain about anything, okay?"
"Mm! I wonât, nya! Ehehehe!" She hugged him, wiping her lips on Javierâs outfit.
"Mimi!" Javier exhaled. "My outfit is not a napkin."
"Nya? Thatâs marking, nya!"
"You always put your âmarkingâ every time~" Javier wiggled his eyebrows.
"Nya? What do you mean, husband?"
"Every time you sleep on me, you always leave a âmapâ on my clothes or pants~"
"Nya! I... I didnât!" Mimi puffed her cheeks while giving Javierâs chest a cute little hit.
Javier chuckled and rubbed her head.
Aw... sheâs so cute~
I wonder how sheâll react when we have our first moment later~
Mimi turned and put the plate on the table, using her finger to separate the veggies to one side of the plate.
"Nya~ Meat for Mimi, veggies for husband~ Meat for Mimi, veggies for husband."
Javier rubbed his chin on her cheek, making her giggle softly. "Ooh~ Bad catgirl~ Forcing her own husband to eat bad veggies while she eats the good meat~"
"Nya~ Thatâs because Mimi is a catfolk, nya~"
"Hmm? But Felicia eats veggies too."
"Nya! Felicia is weird."
"Really? I think your father and mother eat veggies too."
"Nya! Itâs because theyâre also weird~ Mimi is normal! Meat only, nya!"
Javier chuckled softly, looking at how adorable Mimi was.
She never changed from the moment we met until now.
I still remember how she and Delya followed me around when they said I was their type of ideal man.
Javier shook his head and patted her head.
After the meal.
Mimi leaned against Javierâs chest while wearing the mana glasses, linked to the sky eyes, watching the bustling market of Gaze City.
Meanwhile, Javier checked and read through the documents.
Mahira poured coffee for everyone.
"Varrick?"
"Yes, Your Highness?"
"About this paperwork..." Javier kept discussing the paperwork and the issues with Varrick while Lorcan had already laid down on the rest area after Javier suggested they could take a short break after the meal.
And Javier noticed.
Hmm?
He looked at Mimi, who had already fallen asleep.
He raised his palm and smiled. "Everyone, take a rest for a moment."
"As you command, Your Highness."
Javier adjusted her posture, and Mimi turned, hugging him tightly while her legs wrapped around his waist.
"There, there..." Javier patted her back.
"Mm~" Mimi mumbled softly, resting her head on Javierâs shoulder.
Javier glanced at them after looking at the finished paperwork.
"Varrick?"
"Yes, Your Highness?" Varrick glanced at him.
"Looking at how quickly weâve been able to settle the paperwork, I believe for tomorrow, you should find one or two of our officers to assist us. And make sure the paperwork that isnât too critical is reviewed by them, while the more important matters are handled by our current team."
"Are you sure, Your Highness?"
"Yes. Iâve noticed that much of the current paperwork isnât highly classified or sensitive, itâs more administrative and logistical. Besides, most of Armandâs staff and officers are trusted personnel. And I trust your judgment to evaluate and select two or three capable individuals to assist us."
"As you command, Your Highness." Varrickâs expression softened slightly, a hint of pride and relief in his eyes. "I will not disappoint you, Your Highness."
"Just make sure you find those who are diligent, loyal, and focused on Armandâs current priorities. We need people who understand our systems and can work efficiently without compromising security."
