CapĂtulo 1188: The Vanishing Swarm ( 1188 )
Francesca smiled. âShouldnât you feel proud of your son? Hmm? Despite you never giving him proper praise or acknowledgment.â
Garius smiled and shook his head. âLetâs just go.â He glanced back at Alf, Erinette, and all the battle maids and Armand elite special guards.
Alf nodded and smiled before looking at the leader of the Armand guards.
The leader nodded and moved with several of his men, equipped with mana rifles, heading out first to secure the path for their king and queen.
Garius started walking slowly the moment Shironii and Javierâs puppet knights moved into position.
Alf and Erinette, along with the others, followed Garius and Francesca from behind, staying on full alert, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any threats.
Garius chuckled softly when he noticed that with every graceful step Francesca took, a soft, shimmering light flashed around her feet, purifying the air and ground beneath her.
âHoney, you donât need to use that skill, you know.â
Francesca glanced up at him with a sweet smile. âI just hate filth. And you know that~â
Garius chuckled softly. âBut if you do that, the rift outside and the creatures surrounding the estate will vanish in an instant.â
âThatâs what I want. I donât want my Honey Bun to be exhausted since he has more important things to do~ AndâŠâ Francescaâs eyes turned serious. âI hate filthy creatures~â
Meanwhile, in Gracelleâs room.
Garak, Marcor, the battle maids, and Myra saw that the creatures wouldnât stop coming. They formed a defensive perimeter around Gracelleâs bed, standing in front of the barrier to protect it.
âThere are more coming! Everyone, hold the line!â Garak shouted.
They kept firing their mana guns while the battle maids drew additional mana gun hidden under their skirts, strapped to their thighs.
Suddenly, another section of the wall near the windows shattered, and more creatures poured in.
âUgh!! Keep firing!â Garak yelled.
Several creatures slipped past their shots and lunged toward them.
âShit! Defend!!â Marcor was about to draw his blade when a sudden burst of mana bullets vaporized all the incoming monsters in a flash of light.
Six puppet knights materialized around them, advancing toward the windows with their mana rifles, unleashing a barrage of mana bullets to secure the area.
Garak, Marcor, the battle maids, and Myra exhaled in relief.
âFinally. What took them so long?â Marcor muttered.
Myra let out a soft laugh, still holding her mana gun gracefully.
Marcor stepped forward when he noticed the knights had stopped attacking and saw that the monsters had vanished in an instant. He looked around in confusion.
âGarak?â
âHuh? What?â Garak stepped forward and peeked over the broken windows while Javierâs puppet knights remained on alert, aiming around. The entire area was now clean, as if nothing had ever happened.
âWhat just happened?â Marcor mumbled while glancing out of the broken section of the wall near the windows.
Garak, still gripping his mana gun and staying alert, joined Marcor to peek outside and noticed everything looked completely normal.
âWeird.â Garak scratched his head. âThose creatures vanished like they were never here.â
Marcor shrugged. âDonât know, man. Itâs not like itâs the first time something like this has happened. Remember the Celestial Filth incident? Everyone in Armand only felt it for a few hours, and then it was gone like nothing. Meanwhile, travelers from other regions and nations mentioned they couldnât go anywhere until their king made an announcement. And at the same time, our prince was on some mission⊠who knows where.â
âYeah⊠only certain people knew but couldnât tell us.â Garak exhaled and glanced toward Myra. âHowâs the patient?â
Myra, who had just finished putting her mana gun back under her skirt, strapped to her thigh, looked up at Garak before turning to the monitoring machines. âSo far, I think sheâs stable. Prince Javier mentioned to only contact him if the machines give a warning sound.â
Garak glanced at Marcor. âBest if we check the raging guards outside and the maids from before.â
âYeah.â Marcor nodded and signaled the battle maids to stay alert.
Garak and Marcor gripped their weapons and walked toward the double door.
âReady?â Garak glanced at Marcor, who placed his hand on the doorknob.
A few minutes ago.
Javier walked casually down the Mathrias manor hallway, both hands clasped behind his back.
He noticed every Mathrias guard was in a rage, currently pinned down by his puppet knights.
He saw a group of his knights surrounding Rolland and Sylvia, dragging them outside the manor while covering their mouths.
âMmmph!!! Mmmph!!!â
The group of knights stopped in front of Javier and stood straight, while the one holding Rolland and Sylvia kept his hand firmly over their mouth.
Javier glanced up at his puppet knight.
âProceed with the mission.â
[Affirmative.]
The knights continued dragging Rolland and Sylvia away to safety while Javier glanced around, observing how the Mathrias guardsâ eyes were glowing red.
Someone is using manipulation.
He rubbed his chin.
Hmm⊠based on how theyâre affecting every Mathrias guard, this isnât just a skill. Manipulation skills usually only work on a few people, at best around ten, since maintaining the effect requires constant mana output and can even drain the userâs health if overused.
It must be a curse relic or something similar. I saw something like it once before, during the last Human Kingdom royal council Father attended, back when Kliatana was stripped of her princess title and privileges.
His eyes turned serious.
If I donât do something, itâll be hard to move Gracelle to the portable room outside.
His aura flared.
âExpansion.â
He put both hands in his pockets as the skill activated, expanding its radius to cover the entire estate.
âSkill activate: Three Times Gravity.â
A heavy, oppressive force descended, pinning every enemy to the ground, rendering them unable to move.
Hmm?
Javier smirked while both hands remained in his pockets.
They ran the moment they felt the expansion skill, huh?
Run while you can.
Javier smirked and continued walking casually.
Since this will be the last time youâre able to run for your life.
Soon⊠I will find you.
He tapped his mana talkie and contacted the command center.
âCommand center. This is Prince Javier.â
A soft crackle sounded before someone replied. âThis is command center. Is there anything we can assist with, Your Highness?â
âMm⊠track a few people Iâve marked.â He tapped his mana glasses, viewing the live feed from Sky Eyes and the mana satellite, seeing the marked individuals moving away.
âAffirmative, Your Highness. Weâve received the markings. Weâll make sure theyâre tracked.â
âGood. Continue your work.â
âAs you command, Your Highness.â
Javier smirked and continued walking.
Thereâs no way youâll slip past mana satellite and Sky Eyes tracking. Soon, Iâll have all the information I need.
And once itâs confirmed, just pray youâll be able to live a few more weeks.
Because after that, there wonât be any chance for everyone involvedâŠ
To see the last sunlight.
