Chapter 617 - 9th stage charge

Potbol opened his eyes, with not even a scratch on his temple. A 9th stage Aubility hit him dead on, yet he didn’t suffer a single injury.

This was his Aubility. He was invulnerable.

That’s his Aubility?! That’s way too overpowered!

"What kind Aubility does he have?" Michael asked Dicky.

"Potbol’s Aubility is purely defensive. From what I know, he can make himself invulnerable for a very short amount of time. Literally unkillable. It only lasts for a moment, but with proper timing and skill, it could be used to make himself completely invincible."

After being hit with the lightning arrow, Potbol’s body turned normal, with no ethereal glow surrounding him.

This meant that Potbol’s invincibility had worn off, and he wouldn’t be able to use it again in a few seconds. Knowing that this was the only timing he had, Alaric immediately used his chain and shot its end towards Potbol.

With no invincibility, Potbol’s body blurred and disappeared tens of meters backwards, rendering Alaric’s attack useless.

[That kid is pretty good. His Aubility is focused on defense, so he himself has sharpened his offense to a tremendous level. He may be the most skilled fighter in this Pocket Dimension]

This compliment from Harbinger meant a lot. Since Potbol was a main student from Kruger, a Heavenly Knight, this meant that his skills were probably honed to be near the level of perfection.

He could see how Potbol was thought of to be one of the best fighters in all of Metropolis. If he was able to perfect his weapon and truly make his offense as good as his defense, then he’d be an unstoppable machine.

Okay, so I know both of their Aubilities. It’s time for me to try and siphon off some of their powers.

He maneuvered his two drones above Alaric and Potbol, making sure to keep his distance.

Harbinger, any advice?

[Kukuku... they’ll be far too focused on their own fight to notice your drones. Just make sure to not get in their way and they won’t be able to see you.]

It looked like Potbol and Alaric were at the same level, meaning that if they lost their focus for even a little bit, then it could lead the other person to gain an advantage that couldn’t be reclaimed. They had to focus on only each other, which was good for Michael.

Alaric shot his chain, whipping it around him like a lasso.

With its length, it was able to break ten trees in half in a single swing.

These trees started to crash down into the ground, knocking down the trees beyond them.

Potbol narrowed his eyes as he saw this. He didn’t know which tree would lead to a chain reaction that would hit him, and which tree was a normal one. This was one of the hardest things to figure out when fighting against Alaric. No one ever knew where they were coming.

"Haha! I bet Alaric will win this for us," Dicky said with enthusiasm. "Potbol will have a hard time figuring out the timing to use his invincibility if he doesn’t know where they will come."

Even the crowd watching this from above couldn’t help but praise Alaric for his Aubilities.

"I really think Alaric’s Aubility is a direct counter to Potbol’s incredible defense."

"Even with Potbol’s training from a Heavenly Knight, he wouldn’t be able to see where the attack would come from."

"I wouldn’t want to be fighting there. With Alaric’s Aubility, even the other players around them aren’t safe. Whose to say that his chain reaction Aubility wouldn’t accidentally hit them?"

Meanwhile, Michael used his Main Drone and looked at the fallen trees.

And unlike others, he had his Aubility Vision, allowing him to see AP like he had a thermal camera.

Immediately, he spotted the real chain reaction. The tree on the very right was the one that Alaric passed down his AP to.

And this tree had fallen down and passed its chain reaction to a single leaf, which floated to the floor and eventually hit the ground.

This burst of AP slowly seeped into the soil, reaching down to a loose rock underground.

This rock, now disturbed, fell deeper into the ground and caused the ground to collapse and create an unexpected sinkhole!

While all of this was happening, Potbol didn’t waste any time and attacked Alaric.

He used his battle axe, swinging it with enormous speed and force. Alaric tried to keep up with his chains, using them to deflect the force, but his power was slowly giving out due to Potbol’s sheer physicality.

Not only that, but Potbol’s techniques and well placed attacks allowed him to see through Alaric’s weakness.

Slowly, Potbol was able to make Alaric back down step by step, eventually leading him to lean on a tree.

Completing his moveset, Potbol swung his battle axe upwards and caused Alaric’s chain to hit the tree’s bark and become lodged there, leaving Alaric vulnerable.

And just as Potbol was going to swing his weapon to finish the fight, the chain reaction finally finished.

The ground underneath Potbol’s feet descended into the ground, making him lose his footing.

Not only that, but as he fell backwards, Potbol didn’t know that there was a tree’s root poking out of the ground.

He was unable to notice it and pierced through the very edge of his right shoulder, injuring him for the first time.

Seeing this from up above, the crowd went wild.

"See! Alaric’s going to win this!"

"Wow. He’s actually able to injure Potbol. It only goes to show that he’s not

really

invincible."

"But wait! Look! Alaric’s chain reaction is causing the entire forest to sink!"

Grasps rang out as the ground on the Pocket Dimension started to shake with a 8.0 magnitude.

Every single one of the players lost their balance, as the ground underneath their feet sank to the bottom like quicksand.

The problem was that it seemed that this entire thing was powered by Alaric’s 9th stage Aubility! This was all part of his chain reaction!

This meant that all the other Maugnetics in the game were subject to something that they couldn’t fight against.

The only person still left standing was Alaric, who was immune to his own Aubility.

And surprisingly, there was also one person who remained at their feet.

"That’s Michael! How did he not get affected by that?!"

Many were thinking that this was just a mere coincidence, but there were a few who clearly saw what happened.

"I saw him move! Before everything collapsed, he deliberately stepped towards a tree as if he knew that it was going to happen!"

But of course, many still couldn’t believe that he was able to do that.

After all, if even Potbol couldn’t guess what the chain reaction was going to do, then how would Michael have been able to do it?

Michael, seeing the events leading up to the erosion, managed to reach a solid part of the ground in time.

Not only that, but he had maneuvered his Main Drone to put itself in between Alaric’s AP and his Aubility.

He smiled after seeing the charge.
