"Iām feeling a bit lonely, and itāll be nice to have Lijuan to chat with me this evening," Lin Wan said, pulling Lijuan by the hand into her room.
Hu Lijuan mentioned that she had only been in this room once when they got married. Itās such a beautiful room, and sheās quite envious. Sometimes she thinks, if she gets married, sheād definitely need a husband with a spacious room.
Lin Wan took out a set of short-sleeved pajamas from the wardrobe. "Wear this tonight. Itās from before I got married, I donāt wear it much now, itās all been washed."
"Thank you, Saozi."
"No need. Iāll go give your brotherās clothes to Xiao Dung."
"Okay."
After Lin Wan left, Hu Lijuan curiously touched the pajamas and quickly changed into them before Lin Wan returned, hiding the patch on her underwear.
After changing clothes, Hu Lijuan neatly folded her clothes and placed them at the end of the bed.
When Lin Wan returned, she saw her feeling a bit reserved in the room and smiled gently. Actually, she wasnāt too fond of being in a room with strangers either.
"Letās go to sleep too. If you canāt sleep, you can listen to the radio."
"Saozi, can I really listen?" Hu Lijuan asked, quite hopeful.
"Of course you can," Lin Wan said, handing the radio on the table to her. "Listen to it in bed."
Lin Wan said this while pulling her onto the bed.
"I usually love listening to music before falling asleep. This yearās hit āPearl of the Orient,ā and āIntoxicated in Red Dust,ā I listen to them every day."
"My grandma has one radio, and she listens to opera from the drama channel every day. I donāt really like it."
"The elderly usually enjoy listening to that. Grandma does, too. Theyāre older, and thereās a generational gap with us."
"Generational gap?" Hu Lijuan asked, puzzled.
"Itās the gap between different ages."
"Haha."
That phrase āgap between agesā brought them closer.
"You and I seem to have a similar build, and I have a few pieces of clothing just right for you." Things like clothes, shoes, and makeup can really bring girls closer. Though she didnāt have any makeup items.
Lin Wan said this and got up to rummage through her wardrobe.
She took out her clothes from before she got married and found two sets suitable for Hu Lijuan.
"I made these myself. Thereās nothing like it outside."
"Thank you, Saozi. When cousin Rongrong got married, Saozi gave me a set of clothes, which I carefully stored at home, afraid to take them out and wear them."
"Why donāt you wear them?"
"That set of clothes is so nice, if I take it out, my other cousin would definitely fight me for it, and I canāt bear to let her win."
Lin Wan patted her with sympathy, "Once we have our own household, things will be better. If she tries to take your things then, just give her a slap."
"Mhm, Iāve thought about hitting her long ago, I just donāt have the strength to beat her."
"No worries, when your brother returns, let him teach you a few moves."
"Han Yi always has a cold face. He doesnāt like us."
"Heās usually like that, even when heās happy. Itās not that he doesnāt like you."
"Really?"
"Mhm," she knew that Han Yi actually deeply longed for family connections.
The next day when Lin Wan woke up, Hu Lijuanās warmth was already gone from beside her.
Her mother-in-law had already made breakfast and went to work hastily.
At home, only Grandma and the two siblings were left. Now on holiday, Hu Dong mostly runs around the streets looking for his buddies, sometimes gone for a whole day or most of it. No idea what heās up to.
Hu Lijuan usually stays home doing laundry, cooking, and cleaning. Now, Grandma doesnāt let her do any work here, and thereās not much to do. So she comfortably keeps Grandma company and chats, making life here much better than at home.
