Before the words were out of her mouth, Xinyan said, "Hurry up and drink this."
Xinyan knew he must have rushed back day and night to make it in time for the surgery.
He Jinxuan saw Xinyanâs serious little expression and obediently took the cup. However, with some mischief, he rotated the cup and drank from the spot where Xinyan had just sipped, finishing the remaining milk in the thermos cup without leaving a drop.
After drinking, he handed the cup back to Xinyan and said, "I drank it all."
Seeing he followed her instruction, Xinyan turned her gaze back to the surgery room door.
He Jinxuan found a place to clean the thermos cup, poured a cup of hot water, and then returned to Xinyanâs side to wait with everyone else.
Waiting was agonizing, and just as Xinyan checked her wristwatch for the Nth time, the surgery room door finally opened.
Everyone gathered around at once, and Xinyan nervously asked, "Doctor, how is everything?"
The doctor removed his mask and smiled, saying, "Things are better than we expected. Surprisingly, the tumor hasnât changed much in size compared to the scans. In other words, it hasnât grown during this period. Itâs the first time Iâve seen a case like the old ladyâs; if I hadnât seen it myself, I would have found it hard to believe, but the facts speak for themselves."
Everyone was thrilled to hear this, but only Xinyan knew the reason was the frequent use of Space Stream Water in the broth.
After giving them some precautions, the doctor left.
Half an hour later, Granny Zhang was wheeled out of the surgery room and directly sent to a double ward.
Xinyan initially thought about arranging a single room, but there were few single rooms available in the hospital, and they were all occupied by critical patients. So, as before, she found someone to arrange a double room.
Quiet, and with fewer issues.
The nurse reminded them that there was another patient in the ward, asking them to speak quietly and not disturb the patientâs rest.
Seeing everything was going smoothly, Xinyan said, "Thereâs nothing left for you to do here. You can go back to work. Aunt Chen and I will stay here to keep watch."
Turning to He Jinxuan, she added, "You should go back and rest well. Donât push yourself too hard."
Everyone understood Xinyanâs good intentions and realized there was no point in staying either. After various pieces of advice, they left.
Once everyone had left, Xinyan turned to Sister Chen and said, "Aunt Chen, Iâll stay here to keep watch. You go back to the courtyard and prepare some millet porridge and steamed egg custard. Bring all the necessary items when you come."
Sister Chen glanced at the person lying in bed and agreed, "Alright, Iâll go prepare it."
They had prepared everything in advance and tied it all to the bicycle, so they could just bring it over. They would continue to borrow the hospitalâs stove for cooking over the next few days.
The family member of the patient in the next bed, seeing that only Xinyan was left, asked, "Sweetheart, is the patient in bed related to you?"
Xinyan looked up and saw a kind-looking middle-aged woman. "Sheâs my grandmother," she replied.
The woman smiled at Xinyan and said, "Donât worry, once the anesthesia wears off, sheâll wake up."
Xinyan nodded gently, "I understand, thank you."
Since neither of the two patients had woken up, the woman didnât say anything further. Using her backpack as cover, Xinyan pulled out the medical book her senior brother had left her from the space and began reading.
However, she occasionally checked on Granny Zhang and even went to find the nurse once to have the fluids changed.
When Sister Chen brought lunch over, she saw that Granny Zhang had not yet woken up and said, "Yanyan, have your meal first. Iâve packed Aunt Zhangâs meal in a thermal container."
Xinyan looked up and asked, "Aunt Chen, have you eaten?"
Sister Chen nodded, "I ate before coming over. Hurry up and eat, itâs getting cold."
Xinyanâs meal wasnât in a thermal containerâthe enamel mug didnât retain heat, so the food was at a perfect temperature now.
Xinyan didnât stand on ceremony with Sister Chen; she picked up the enamel mug and started eating.
Just as she finished eating and was about to get up to wash the dishes, Granny Zhang woke up.
Sister Chen said excitedly, "Yanyan, come over quickly. Is Aunt Zhang waking up?"
Xinyan placed the enamel mug on the windowsill and hurried over, leaning down. She saw Granny Zhangâs eyelids flutter for a while before slowly opening her eyes. "Granny Zhang, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
