Chapter 824: Do as I Say

Since there’s a hidden hand behind this, then I must be on guard.

The reason for not explaining to the team in advance was to prevent anyone from leaking the information.

But the path below is different; besides locals, outsiders wouldn’t even know there’s such a route, which can bypass the gorge above and is a shortcut.

By the time those people receive the news, the convoy would already have avoided this dangerous area.

Even if there is an informant planted in the convoy, trying to send the message would be challenging. Of course, this is just my own suspicion; hopefully, I’m overthinking it.

The driver of the lead truck followed the path indicated by He Jinxuan: "Captain, does this road really lead to the main road ahead?"

He Jinxuan looked at the increasingly rugged road: "Just keep driving."

The driver heard He Jinxuan’s words and didn’t dare to ask further, focusing entirely on driving, fearing any mistakes.

Fortunately, the drivers of the convoy are seasoned drivers with at least three years of experience and adapt well to such road conditions.

As the vehicles traveled along the road, they reached a turn where He Jinxuan instructed the driver to stop. He then told everyone to get out, stretch a bit, and quickly head to the nearby stream to fetch water for the vehicles.

For safety reasons, he instructed them to inspect each other’s vehicles.

Someone remarked, "Captain, is that really necessary?"

He Jinxuan was firm: "It doesn’t cost much effort; do as I say."

He’s worried someone might deliberately make a mistake, causing delays. Even if it’s a bit bothersome, it’s better than regretting carelessness later.

Once all vehicles were deemed okay, He Jinxuan gave the order: "Get back in the vehicles, let’s continue our journey."

From here on, the way is downhill; everyone must stay completely focused, always remembering our families are waiting for us to return safely."

With that, he was the first to get back in the vehicle.

The next patch of road runs along the boundary of three nearby villages. Due to geological reasons, in previous years, these villages frequently conducted secret quarrying here. Since it was a private endeavor by these three villages, no one talked about it outside.

This resulted in only the locals from these three villages being aware of this road.

He Jinxuan knew this path from following someone during his undercover work, hence discovering it.

By the time dusk settled, the convoy finally returned to the original main road, successfully avoiding the gorge. It was then that everyone realized that, although this path was hard to travel, it saved them dozens of miles, despite being tough on the tires.

He Jinxuan didn’t have them stop, driving straight to the town ahead to rest there.

Meanwhile, at the gorge, as darkness fell, they didn’t spot any convoy passing through, only some scattered vehicles.

Someone spoke up: "Big Brother, it’s getting dark, and the convoy hasn’t come yet; could the message be wrong?"

The man addressed as Big Brother shook his head: "Impossible, let’s wait a little longer; maybe they encountered trouble on the way, causing delays."

The person had to patiently return to the original spot, whispering to the companion next to him: "It’s about to get dark; if they don’t come, we’ll be stuck here until daylight."

The person nearby softly advised: "Keep your voice down, be careful not to upset Big Brother."

Originally, the convoy didn’t show up as scheduled, leaving everyone feeling irritable. If you stir things up now, it’s no surprise if Big Brother takes it out on you.
