When Liu Miao woke up again, she was already in the hospital.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Zhang Qiang and Zhang Qiangâs mother looking at her with excited expressions, their concern tinged with a hint of flattery.
Liu Miao was stunned for a moment, "Why... why am I here?"
For some reason, when Liu Miao saw them acting like this, she suddenly had a bad feeling; it definitely wasnât what she was hoping for.
But very quickly, her mom extinguished the glimmer of hope she had in her heart.
Zhang Qiangâs mother smiled, just about to speak, when the hospital roomâs door was pushed open, and in came the travel-worn Aunt Liu and Liu Tian.
Before anything could happen, Aunt Liu pointed at Zhang Qiang and began to curse him furiously, "You, Zhang Qiang, how dare you force yourself on my Liu Miao! My good girl is now pregnant because of you, and I wonât let you off the hook."
"Thatâs right, as if thereâs no one left in the Liu Family." Liu Tian spat and said from behind.
"You... Mom, what are you talking about? Whoâs pregnant?" Liu Miao abruptly sat up from the hospital bed.
"Oh, be careful as you get up, donât scare my dear grandson." Zhang Qiangâs mother said hastily, her mouth full of old yellow teeth, identical to Zhang Qiangâs.
Liu Miao felt like vomiting just looking at her.
And she couldnât hold it in; she actually vomited.
"Why are you having morning sickness so early? Quickly lie down," Zhang Qiangâs mother said anxiously, wanting to go forward to support Liu Miao, but was stopped by Aunt Liu.
"Isnât it your Zhang Familyâs doing?" Aunt Liu said angrily, "How do you plan to deal with this situation?"
Liu Miao closed her eyes, hoping she was dreaming, and when she opened her eyes, all of this wouldnât exist.
She knew her mom rushed over not because she was genuinely worried about her but to extort more money from Zhang Qiangâs family.
"Deal with it? Sheâs carrying our Zhang Familyâs child now, so sheâs naturally one of us," Zhang Qiangâs mother said loudly.
Should they abort this child?
"Pah... Do you think you can make my sister one of your beloved without spending a dime?" Liu Tian said, "Iâm telling you, no way."
"Zhang Qiang, tell me, how much bride price are you planning to give our family?" Aunt Liu looked at Zhang Qiang and said.
"Bride price?" Zhang Qiang smiled faintly, "Mom, how much bride price are you thinking?"
"Sheâs the only sister we have, and itâs not easy raising her to be so lovely. It should be at least eight hundred to a thousand," Liu Tian said.
"What? Eight hundred to a thousand? Your family is selling your daughter? Why donât you go steal instead?" Zhang Qiangâs mother shouted outright.
"How is that stealing? How about this, five hundred bride price, and Liu Miao must give me ten yuan for living expenses every month from her salary," Aunt Liu said.
Ten yuan monthly adds up to one hundred twenty yuan a year, and itâs sustainable. She knows what her son is like; if they gave all the money at once, Liu Tian would surely squander it.
"Ten yuan, you really dare to think. Never heard of a married daughter having to provide living expenses for her motherâs household," Zhang Qiangâs mother said angrily.
"Why canât she give it then?" Aunt Liu retorted defiantly.
The two of them started cursing each other with their hands on their hips in the hospital room over the bride price.
"Enough," Liu Miao shouted coldly, "I just want to ask you one thing."
Liu Miao looked at Zhang Qiang and said calmly, "Answer me honestly, and Iâll marry you."
"Liu Miao," Aunt Liu called.
This girl definitely doesnât want to marry Zhang Qiang, and she knew it, "Donât let him deceive you."
"How did you know I went to find Tang Wei?" Liu Miao said without even glancing at Aunt Liu.
Zhang Qiang was taken aback, not expecting Liu Miao to ask this.
