Chapter 125: Chapter 117: Mysterious Patterns
On the shelf opposite the door, a dazzling array of items was on display.
From top to bottom, the first shelf was filled entirely with Crystal Cores. Densely packed bags were piled together, creating a spectacular sight.
Tang Mo took a look. Most of them were Basic Crystal Cores, with only a few bags containing Intermediate Crystal Cores.
It made sense, considering this was the entire harvest of the Wuxi Village villagers for a year.
Since they didnât use Crystal Cores to enhance their abilities, the villagersâ Spirit Attributes werenât very high. Fighting Intermediate Beasts was certainly a struggle for them.
"Ooh!" Seeing the shelf packed with Crystal Cores, Jingjing got so excited its fur stood on end.
Tang Mo had stored even more Crystal Cores in her Space before and had seen grander sights, so she was relatively unfazed by this shelf of Basic Crystal Cores.
But Jingjing had never seen so many Crystal Cores before. It hopped down from Tang Moâs shoulder and bounded onto the shelf. In just a few seconds, it had an armful of bags clutched to its chest.
Jingjingâs fur had become increasingly beautiful. Although it hadnât grown any larger, its increase in strength was obvious from the way it ran and helped Tang Mo. This was undoubtedly the effect of the Crystal Cores.
"Jingjing, no," Tang Mo said, shaking her head. âThe villagers of Wuxi Village worked hard for a whole year to gather these. I donât know how much blood and life was sacrificed.â Tang Mo truly couldnât bring herself to take them.
Seeing Tang Mo shake her head, Jingjing instantly deflated. Having spent so much time with her, Jingjing probably understood Tang Moâs true strength better than anyone and was very obedient.
It loosened its small paws, letting all the bags drop, then flopped onto the floor.
However, when Tang Mo wasnât looking, Jingjing secretly used its little paws to pull a few Crystal Cores into its arms.
The second shelf held a few scattered items. Tang Mo gave them a quick glance; they were all the most common type of abnormal treasure.
Most were edible, with only two items being jewelry.
Their attribute values werenât very high, ranging from about 15 to 35. They were the most ordinary abnormal treasures.
Tang Mo swept them all into her Space. She already had many abnormal treasures on her person.
The necklace, the Wrist Guard, the Life Energy Short Sleeve, and so on.
Tang Mo didnât plan on adding any more items to her gear. Abnormal treasures with attribute values could provide a boost, but they werenât her own strength, after all.
Now, Tang Mo was less concerned with the level of her combined attributes and more focused on how much of her own power she could actually wield.
It was like a top student at school who no longer cared about their grades, but only about how much knowledge they had learned and could truly absorb and use.
The shelving unit had three tiers. The bottom one was filled entirely with dried Exotic Beast Meat.
Tang Mo rummaged through it with her hand. It was all the choicest cuts from Intermediate Beasts.
As for the scraps and odd ends, those were naturally given to the villagersâ families as rewards, to be treasured.
Tang Mo still remembered how Xiao Huâs family had treated that bone with barely a sliver of meat on it like a precious treasure. It was a stark contrast to the shelves now overflowing with meat.
Tang Mo didnât plan to take the Crystal Cores or the Exotic Beast Meat, but she took all the abnormal treasures from the shelf.
âCanât leave empty-handed, after all.â
But as soon as the items from the second shelf vanished, a section of a pattern was revealed behind the openwork of the shelf.
âWhatâs this?â
Seeing that familiar pattern appear before her eyes again, Tang Moâs heart seemed to skip a beat.
Her only reaction was to immediately pull the entire shelf aside with both hands, revealing the full pattern behind it.
The shelf was shoved to one side, its remaining contents scattering across the floor.
But Tang Mo couldnât be bothered with that now. Her eyes were glued to the pattern hidden on the wall.
She had searched high and low for it with no success, only to stumble upon it effortlessly.
The complete pattern Tang Mo had been searching for was hidden on the wall of the Sect Leaderâs storeroom. This was the secret to the Sect Leaderâs spiritual power transformation!
Without taking the time to examine the pattern closely, Tang Mo moved to the sides and pulled down the other two shelves as well.
Just as she had expected, behind the three shelves were three walls, each covered entirely by a complete pattern.
If the patterns in the books were just the smallest fragments, and the ones on the villagersâ walls were slightly more complete versions, then the drawings on these three walls in the Sect Leaderâs storeroom were the absolute, complete versions.
âIf Iâm not mistaken, the three patterns should correspond to three different spiritual power transformation abilities.â
Tang Mo had already seen the Sect Leader use two of them: one was using spiritual power to heal a third party, and the other was condensing spiritual power outside the body to form a solid Wind Blade.
âSo what is the third pattern?â
âHad the Sect Leader not learned it? Otherwise, why didnât he use it before he died?â
These questions in Tang Moâs mind could only be answered when she studied the patterns for herself.
Clearly, this was not a good place to focus and study.
Tang Mo studied the three patterns carefully, committing them to memory.
To be safe, Tang Mo took out a pen and paper and copied the three patterns.
She went over them in her mind several times. Once she was sure she had completely memorized them, Tang Mo finally left the Sect Leaderâs house.
As Tang Mo was leaving the Sect Leaderâs courtyard, she ran right into the group that had been waiting at the village entrance, along with the group that had gone out with the Sect Leader. They were all arriving at the gate of the Sect Leaderâs courtyard.
The atmosphere instantly froze.
Seeing Tang Mo emerge from the Sect Leaderâs house, everyone looked at each other in bewilderment.
"I left something here earlier. I just came to get it."
Tang Moâs excuse was so clumsy that not even Xiao Hu would have believed it.
But Tang Mo couldnât care less whether they believed her or not. Aside from the shelf of abnormal treasures, she hadnât touched the food or Crystal Cores in the Sect Leaderâs storeroom.
Although everyone found it strange that Tang Mo was coming out of there, they had more important things to do at the moment and couldnât be bothered with her.
Tang Mo was happy to be left alone. Seeing everyone rush into the Sect Leaderâs courtyard, she returned to Xiao Huâs house by herself.
âIt seems these Wuxi Village villagers arenât quite what I thought they were.â
Back in her room, Tang Mo got Xiao Taoâs permission and then stored all the books on Zhou Yi and the Eight Diagrams in her Space.
She might come across them later when studying those patterns.
After changing her clothes and eating something, Xiao Hu finally returned from outside, carrying a large pile of things.
Tang Mo had left early, so she didnât know that after the others entered the Sect Leaderâs storeroom, the most sought-after items werenât the Crystal Cores or the food, but the two large jars of Medicinal Insects.
