"Um, can we leave with you?"
The speaker was Mark Sterling. He was carrying a sniper rifle on his back and had a pistol at his waist. Beside him, F*ck You was similarly dressed, except the gun on his back was an AK-458. The other two men who had come out with them stood silently behind them.
They were complete strangers, so Flora Bloom had no intention of giving them her complete trust.
"You can leave with us, but weâre heading to the weather station now. Iâm sure you know the route is teeming with zombies. If you follow us, your survival isnât guaranteed, and I wonât go out of my way to protect you."
In truth, as long as Behemoth was around, everything else was trivial, provided they didnât run into any high-level zombies or zombie lifeforms.
Flora Bloom was actually testing the four menâs resolve. Determination was crucial. It was easy to tell whether they just wanted to leech off her groupâs strength for an easy escape or genuinely wanted to join them.
"Donât worry. Since weâve decided to go with you, weâre obviously not afraid of those zombies! If you need me for anything, Iâm at your disposal!" Mark Sterling seemed to be good at reading the situation. âIn this group, everyone is so quiet. It seems like this young girlâthe youngest of them allâis the one making all the decisions.â
"Me too, me too! I havenât awakened a superpower and my shooting isnât as good as Stuâs, but I wonât hold you back!" F*ck You had a lively personality. "Hello, beautiful! My name is F*ck You. Please let us come with you!"
Flora Bloom ignored the two who had spoken and looked at the two men behind them.
"What about you two? If you follow us out of here, you need to be prepared to die. If you shrink back, cower, or betray your teammates while weâre fighting zombies, you might just die by my hand before you even turn into one."
As Flora Bloom spoke, the ruthless glint in her eyes was fixed on the two men, as if a bottomless abyss would swallow them whole the moment they showed any hesitation.
"Youâd better think carefully. Staying here, you might live a few more days. But if you come with us, you could be dead in the next second."
The two men clenched their fists as if they had made up their minds. One of them looked at Flora Bloom and said, "If we die, we die. Weâre going with you!"
The other man hesitated for a moment, then finally declared that he wouldnât be a burden either.
The doctor, nurse, and pregnant woman who were also there now looked at Flora Bloomâs group with pleading eyes. "Can... can you take us with you, too?"
An OB-GYN doctor and nurse. Flora Bloom naturally wanted to take them. As for the pregnant woman, Flora subconsciously touched her own belly.
âIâm already three months along. It wonât be long before I start showing.â
âThis woman looks like sheâs only about six or seven months pregnant. Itâd be good to keep her around. Itâll give the doctor and nurse some practice before they have to deliver my baby.â
After all, even with all sorts of medical equipment, giving birth in the apocalypse was a world of difference from how it was before.
When everyone arrived at the hospitalâs main entrance, they were so scared their legs almost gave out.
From a distance, they thought something was blocking the entrance. It was only when they got closer that they realized it was a crocodileâa giant crocodile larger than ten buses put together.
âOh my god, what has the world come to? Humans turn into zombies, unborn babies turn into zombies, and a single bite or scratch from a zombie turns you into one. It was already impossible to survive.â
âAnd now thereâs a crocodile this huge blocking the exit.â
âEven all of us together wouldnât be enough to get stuck in its teeth, would we?â
Mark Sterling and F*ck You had already raised their guns, ready to fight. When the other two men saw Behemoth, their legs went weak. One of them was so scared that he scrambled away, turning to run.
The other man, though he had collapsed to the ground, clenched his fists after a moment and got back up. With a look of grim determination, he slowly followed behind Flora Bloomâs group, step by step.
Flora Bloom glanced at the man who had fled, a scornful smirk playing on her lips. âA coward like that doesnât deserve to follow us.â
She stopped Mark Sterling and F*ck You, then raised an eyebrow at the remaining man. Patting Behemothâs foreleg, she said, "Behemoth, say hello to our new friends!"
Behemoth once again performed its signature earth-shaking greeting. It raised and lowered its foreleg, making the ground vibrate so hard it seemed about to crack. The six newcomers turned pale with fright.
After that, however, the way they looked at Flora Bloom changed completely.
âWith so many powerful creatures on her side, donât we have a much better chance of surviving this apocalypse?â
This strengthened their resolve to stay with Flora Bloomâs team.
With Behemothâs cooperation, everyone climbed onto the crocodileâs back one by one. For the six newcomers, most of their initial fear had transformed into astonishment and excitement.
This monstrous beast, which looked so terrifying and vicious, was as docile as a kitten in front of Flora Bloom. They were actually sitting on its back, and it was obediently carrying their entire groupâplus two monkeys and a small tigerâas it moved forward at high speed.
"CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP."
An alarm call from Golden Cicada and Vert came from the sky.
"Master, thereâs movement at the weather station!"
Flora Bloomâs heart sank. If her little brother was at the weather station, then this "movement" was definitely not a good thing.
"Behemoth, full speed ahead."
The weather station and the hospital were actually just separated by a wide main road. After a mad dash, Behemoth arrived outside the weather station building in just half a minute.
Behemothâs arrival caused the ground to shake violently, quickly drawing the attention of the zombies surrounding the weather station.
They had killed a wave when they passed by earlier, but now the number of zombies had somehow increased again. In just a short time, the endlessly growing horde had once again surrounded the weather station, layer upon layer.
The second floor of the weather station had transparent, floor-to-ceiling glass, so Flora Bloom immediately had Vert and Golden Cicada fly over to investigate the situation inside the building first.
Flora Bloom had a very special mental link with Vert and the others; they could receive any thoughts or images that formed in her mind.
Just then, Vert and Golden Cicada flew to the second floor of the weather station, one after the other. Upon seeing the situation inside, they quickly sent a message back to Flora Bloom.
"Master, itâs your brother! It looks like that group of people is about to throw him out the door."
When Flora Bloom heard this, her expression instantly darkened.
"You two go in first. Kill anyone who dares to make a move. Iâll be right behind you."
"Behemoth, go! Crush these zombies blocking the way."
Riding on Behemoth as it steamrolled through, the group quickly arrived at the buildingâs entrance. The ground before them was littered with zombie corpses.
At that moment, the Level 3 zombie they had scared off earlier appeared in their line of sight.
âThis bunch of humans killed a lot of my underlings before. I only dared to gather the zombies and attack the building again after I saw that they had left.â
âWhy are they back?â
âI donât give a damn about the group of humans led by Flora Bloom, but this giant evolved creature is something Iâm terrified of. And on that giant crocâs back are several other evolved creatures that are just as strong. The lightning from that little white tiger is especially effective against me.â
âForget it. Iâll definitely be at a disadvantage if we really fight. Iâd better hide in the shadows and find a chance to ambush one or two of them. Itâd be nice to get a taste of some energy-packed delicacies for a change of pace.â
