Mr. Caelus told the Suttons that a period of extreme cold, snow, and global freezing was coming. He had them sell their villa and move into The Metropolis Residences.
Mr. and Mrs. Sutton had originally planned to move into a high-rise apartment in the city center. They couldnât afford The Nimbus Hotel anymore, but renting in the city center was still within their means.
After hearing Mr. Caelusâs advice, they gave up on moving to the city center. Instead, they bought a place in The Metropolis Residences and moved in.
Standing to the side, Mr. Sutton watched coldly as Mrs. Sutton comforted Ethan Sutton, feeling anger well up inside him.
Mr. Sutton simply couldnât stand the sight of Ethan sobbing like this. He found it exceptionally jarring.
He felt that Ethan was completely unable to control his emotions now. He would break down and wail from time to time, and he cowered in front of othersânot at all like a man! It was a complete waste of all the years the Sutton Family had spent painstakingly grooming him as their heir!
Mr. Sutton had also been under immense pressure lately. He used to have two sons he was proud of!
But in less than a year, his younger son, Elias Sutton, had died, and his older son, Ethan Sutton, was ruined.
Seeing the Sutton family line about to end with his generation, Mr. Sutton was so distressed he felt like he could vomit blood. If this continued, how could he possibly face the Sutton ancestors?!
The mere thought of it was infuriating. Mr. Sutton took a deep breath and said grimly to Ethan, "Thatâs enough! Stop crying! Look at the state youâre in!"
Hearing his fatherâs words, the pain in Ethan Suttonâs heart intensified.
Ethan could feel that his current state was a huge disappointment to his father.
âI donât want to be like this, either. I want to move on from this dark Chapter and look forward, but I just canât control my emotions!â
So, he could only bite his lip hard, forcing himself not to cry out loud. His body began to tremble uncontrollably, and his face gradually flushed crimson.
Seeing Ethan become even more upset because of his fatherâs scolding, Mrs. Sutton wouldnât stand for it.
She looked up and complained to Mr. Sutton, "Why are you scolding our son! That wretched girl from the Lancaster family and that old hag from across the hallâdidnât you see them ganging up on our son?"
"Is taking it out on our son all you know how to do? Why didnât you teach those two a lesson? Our son is pitiful enough as it is. Itâs one thing if you wonât help him, but how can you blame him?!"
Upon hearing this, Mr. Suttonâs expression grew even darker.
Of course, he hated that Melody Summers too!
If Melody Summers hadnât refused to marry Ethan Sutton, Sylvia Lancaster would never have married into the Sutton Family.
If Sylvia Lancaster hadnât married into the Sutton Family, Raymond Hayes would never have gone after Ethan Sutton, and none of this would have happened!
Melody Summers was practically the "source of all evil"!
At this thought, flames of fury seemed to burn in Mr. Suttonâs eyes.
He snorted and said through clenched teeth, "Sheâs just a little brat, isnât she? Dealing with her wonât be hard. Since she doesnât know whatâs good for her, weâll find a way to kick her and her whole family out of this complex!"
******
Melody Summers left Mrs. Vanceâs apartment, walking and wondering, âWhere exactly did things go wrong?â
The Sutton Family may have been a bankrupt wealthy family, but as the saying goes, a starved camel is still bigger than a horse.
Why would they move to the remote Metropolis Residences instead of going to the city center or near the municipal government?
The overall security at The Metropolis Residences was decent, but the best places for overall security and resource supply were still those few exclusive complexes in the city center.
It was really strange that the Sutton Family chose to move here...
On top of that, what was even stranger was Ethan Suttonâs condition.
In her past life, Ethan Sutton had often incited his lackeys to bully Melody Summers.
In this life, although Melody had only met Ethan a few times, he had always acted like an arrogant rich kidânose in the air, constantly and confidently imagining he was exuding irresistible pheromones.
The last time they spoke on the phone, Ethan had even told Melody to be his mistress and go to the Sutton residence to "serve" him.
So how did he suddenly transform into this demure, reformed gigolo today?
Utterly bewildered, Melody Summers walked home. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see Sophie Thorne sitting on the living room sofa.
Seeing her, Melody walked over and asked in surprise, "Itâs so cold outside. What are you doing here?"
Melody had been busy with her hasty move and hadnât contacted Sophie for several days.
Sophie smiled and replied, "The sun actually came out today, which is rare. I brought a few things and came to see you all."
The two chatted for a bit, and Melody learned that Sophie and her family had moved into The Nimbus Hotel.
Most of the cityâs wealthy had moved to The Nimbus Hotel by now. The hotel had stockpiled a massive amount of supplies, offered a full range of food and entertainment, and even had its own heating system. It had essentially become a large-scale shelter.
Sophie then asked, "Are you guys settling in okay here? Do you need to move somewhere else?"
Sophie was thinking, âIf the Summers Family needs it, Iâll arrange a suite for them at The Nimbus Hotel.â
Melody shook her head. "Everythingâs fine on our end. Itâs nice living here. You donât have to worry."
Compared to living in a hotel and depending on it for three meals a day and heating, Melody felt it was more comfortable and safer to live in her own home.
Thinking about her encounter with Ethan Suttonâs family earlier, Melody complained to Sophie, "You remember Ethan Sutton, right? His family must have lost their minds or something, because they actually moved here too! And they just so happen to be right downstairs from me."
Sophie was taken aback. "Ethan Sutton? His family moved in downstairs from you?"
Melody nodded. "Yeah, I just ran into them downstairs. They just moved in today. And that Ethan Sutton... I donât know what set him off, but I just glanced at him and he covered his face and ran away."
Hearing this, Sophieâs expression turned a little strange for some reason.
She pursed her lips and said hesitantly, "...You probably donât know yet, but something happened to the Sutton family a while ago. Ethan Sutton was caught and beaten up by Raymond Hayes, the eldest son of the Hayes Family. Raymond also... him..."
Sophie stopped abruptly, her expression awkward and hesitant, as if she didnât know how to continue.
Seeing Sophieâs expression, Melody was completely confused. She quickly grabbed Sophieâs hand and pressed, "Raymond Hayes? Wasnât he already executed by firing squad? What did he do to Ethan Sutton?"
Sophie answered with some difficulty, "Raymond Hayes had his men castrate Ethan Sutton. Word is... they were very thorough. Nothing was left..."
Melody: "..."
Melody: "Huh??"
Ethan Sutton.
By Raymond Hayes.
Was castrated?!?!
Seeing Melodyâs shocked expression, Sophie continued, "A while ago, Ethan Suttonâs mother, Mrs. Sutton, went to Rhodes Enterprises to report an employee, Simon Lancaster, for interfering in someone elseâs marriage."
"Rhodes Enterprises followed the thread and investigated. They found that Mrs. Sutton had previously filed a police report, accusing Raymond Hayes of gang assault and injuring her son with a knife."
"Later, they investigated the hospital and found that Ethan Suttonâs medical records stated that his genitals were completely severed."
Melody: "..."
Melody: "What?!?!"
In truth, Sophieâs words were only half-true; she was hiding part of the story.
The truth was, ever since he began to suspect that his uncle, Roman Rhodes, had taken a liking to Melody Summers, Ronan Rhodes had become exceptionally invested in her affairs, as if she were some kind of new species.
Because Simon Lancaster was Melodyâs biological older brother, after learning about Mrs. Suttonâs complaint, Ronan Rhodes had specifically sent someone to look into the matter between Simon Lancaster and Ethan Sutton.
There were no secrets in their circle. Besides, Ethan Suttonâs injury was so unusual that it had shocked the entire hospital when he was brought in. A little digging was all it took to find out what had happened!
