Adam looked at Bianca as she stared back at him. He canât figure out whatâs going on inside her mind, but he suspects none of it to be any good.
Adam just exposed Brandonâs lie and shattered her fragile illusion of a life.
"Bianca... What should I do with you? First infidelity, and now you have physically assaulted your colleague," Adam says.
Bianca gets nervous. "Sir... Please... donât have me fired... I will do anything..." Bianca says.
Adam smirks. âJust as I expected..â He thought. A woman who is willing to throw away her marriage and have an affair would definitely offer herself up if she can avoid consequences.
Women like her donât think about consequences because if she did, she would have never cheated on her fiancĂ©. If she really wanted to be with Brandon, she could have ended it with her fiancĂ©, but she didnât.
She didnât want to lose the safety blanket that is her husband. Women like Bianca only fear the consequences after they are caught in the act.
Adam checks out Bianca once again before deciding what to do with her.
"I think you should leave. I am sure your partner is waiting for you at home," Adam says.
He decides to let her go because he has no interest in fucking this woman right now.
Bianca feels a great sense of relief wash over her. She immediately bows her head and gets the hell out of there.
As she left, it was just Adam and Brandon who were left behind.
Adam brings his attention back to Brandon, who is clearly not having a good time. He just lost one of his side chicks, who also slapped him.
"You had no right to do that..." Brandon says, his eyes blazing with hatred for Adam.
"Hahaha, and who are you to tell me what to do?" Adam asks, getting closer to Brandon.
Brandon flinches a little as Adam scares him. He doesnât want to get into a physical confrontation with him.
Brandon grits his teeth, trying to suppress his urge to swing at Adamâs face.
"You are going to regret this..." Brandon says.
"Oh? Is that a threat?" Adam asks with an amused smile.
Brandon doesnât answer; he just steps back and heads back to his office under Adamâs gaze, grabs his stuff, and leaves.
Adam had his fun.
He starts making his way towards his fatherâs office.
Adam arrives at a long, curving corridor that leads to his fatherâs office. After stepping through the corridor, he finds himself before a woman sitting behind a desk.
Adam checks her out. Early to mid twenties, long blond hair, blue eyes, and a nice figure.
âThe old man clearly has a type,â Adam thinks as the woman reminds him so much of Julia, Jackâs wife.
Adam can already guess that this girl might be just more than a professional secretary for his father. His father probably hired her for more than just office work.
His eyes then fall on her name slab. Ziana Lane. She is the woman the receptionist talked to on the phone.
Ziana looks away from her screen as she notices Adamâs presence; her pupils dilate a little as she sees Adam.
She didnât expect Mr. Grantâs son to be so handsome.
"You must be Adam. Mr. Grant has been waiting for you for a while now. You can go in," Ziana says.
Adam smiles and nods at her before walking up to the door of his fatherâs office.
He looks at the large door and pushes it open, and walks in. Inside, he finds his father sitting behind his large desk, right behind the glass walls of the skyscraper, through which the city is a sight to behold.
Though itâs a very stunning sight, Adam can never see himself sitting in a room like this, working at a desk, and sacrificing everything else for money.
Sure, itâs a nice job, and there is no risk involved, but Adam doesnât want to live such a boring life.
Jack looks at his son, who is staring out into the city through the glass walls. He wonders what his son his thinking.
Now that he looks at Adam, he has noticed that his son has changed a lot, or maybe he never bothered noticing his son before, so he never saw this coming.
"Sit down," Jack says, getting Adamâs attention.
Adam meets Jackâs eyes and approaches him. He sits down.
"Drink?" Jack asks. "Anythingâs fine," Adam replies.
Jack hums and grabs the phone on his desk to call his secretary. "Ziana, bring me a bottle of Old Monarch and two glasses," Jack speaks into the phone and puts it down before looking back at Adam.
"So whatâs this about?" Adam asks.
"I think you already have the correct assumption," Jack says.
"Itâs about Margarette?" Adam asks. Jack nods his head, takes out an expensive cigar from his drawer, and puts it in his mouth before lighting it up he reaches in and takes out another one and shows it to Adam, asking if he wants one. Adam shakes his head.
Without saying a word, Jack puts it back.
Jack takes a puff of the cigar before looking back at Adam. "Yes, itâs about her... What happened between you two?" Jack asks.
Adam looks at Jack, who has a very good poker face on right now, so he canât tell what his old man is thinking.
"I did what was expected of me. I know I did well. If you messed it up, it has nothing to do with me," Adam says, shrugging his shoulders.
Jack gives Adam a blank look. "You did better than good," Jack says, taking another puff of his cigar.
"Sounds like it went really well," Adam says. "It went better than expected. She didnât put up a fight like she was doing before. Whatever charm you worked on her, it worked wonders," Jack says. A small smirk appears on his lips, but disappears right after. But Adam catches it.
"Glad to hear it," Adam says. Suddenly, there is a knock on the door. "Come in," Jack says. The door is pushed open, and Ziana walks in with an expensive-looking whiskey bottle and two glasses in her hand. Adam turns to look at her. He gets a much better view of her now that she is walking towards him.
She is taller than he expected; she is blessed with really long legs. She could be a fashion model if she wants to, with those legs.
Ziana stands before the desk and puts down the glasses, one before Jack and the other before Adam. She then pops the cork off the bottle and pours the whiskey into the glasses, first Jackâs, then Adamâs.
As she pours into his glass, she canât help but take a second look at Adam, only to get a little startled as Adam meets her eyes. She blushes lightly before looking away.
After she is done pouring, she places the bottle on the table, bows to them, and takes her leave.
"She looks so much like Julia... is she really just your secretary?" Adam asks as he picks up his glass, swirls it, and takes a sip. The only type of alcohol he ever drank was cheap beer that you could buy in bundles for a few dollars; he has never had anything more expensive and refined. He wondered if he would like this expensive stuff. The only way is to give it a try.
As for the taste, it is indeed much better than the one he is used to; itâs smoother and richer in taste. There is clearly a lot of skill and refinement that has gone into making this.
"Ahem! It should be none of your concern," Jack says. Adam sees a crack in Jackâs trained poker face; his question shook him a little, giving Adam the answer he needed. But the experienced Jack regained his composure.
"I was just curious, itâs not like I have not seen this before," Adam says, taking another sip.
Jack decides to ignore his son. Silence remains between the father and son, lasting minutes before Jack finally speaks.
"Tell me, son, do you want to take over my business?" Jack asks.
Adam is surprised by Jackâs question because this is something Jack has never asked him before, not even in his past life. Maybe itâs because of the changes that Jack noticed in him that made him think of this possibility.
Adam begins to ponder, does he really see himself taking over his fatherâs company and running it? Adam doesnât doubt himself, with his current abilities to learn things at a faster rate an humanly possible, it wonât be hard for him to take over and take his fatherâs business to even greater heights, but the question is, does Adam want to do it?
The environment is nice, the money is more than necessary, he can have any woman he wants who works under him, but does Adam want it?
It doesnât take Adam long to come up with an answer. Adam shakes his head. "No," he says to Jack.
Jack looks at Adam. He doesnât seem disappointed; in fact, it looks like he expected this answer before he even asked the question.
"Then what do you want to do?" Jack asks.
Adam looks at Jack. He can see the seriousness in Jackâs eyes.
"I am looking to go pro in MMA," Adam says.
Jackâs eyes widened in surprise. This is the first time he has been shocked by something his son said to him.
"Wait, did I hear you right?" Jack asks.
"Yes, I am going to pursue MMA. My first amateur fight is in a month," Adam says.
Surprising Jack once again.
