Chapter 470: The Facility

Kael, N’bayé, and Katari flew rapidly through the sky, easily crossing hundreds of kilometers in an instant.

Soon, they arrived at the city that was said to be built on the Origin of Humanity.

This city had long been evacuated and the only humans living here were those of the lower class who didn’t actually have anywhere else to go.

"Natalia and Vixy have done a good job suppressing any actions from the top leaders of the world," N’bayé commented lightly as they began to descend down to the ground.

"They’re merely practicing, Natalia is trying to achieve something else though," Kael said.

Katari remained silent, but she was very close to Kael, closer than N’bayé. Their arms were almost touching.

"Katari," Kael called.

"Yes," Katari looked at Kael.

"We’re going to heaven. I want you to reach tier 5 before we go," Kael said casually before waving his hand.

N’bayé raised her eyebrow and Katari tilted her head. This was the first time they were hearing that they were going to heaven.

The two carcasses of Ryskim and the fortune dragon appeared out of nowhere in front of the trio.

"Can you do it?" Kael asked. He was worried that the dragons wouldn’t be enough to boost Katari’s evolution.

Katari’s eyes flashed with excitement when she saw the dragon carcasses. She was excited as she thought of getting stronger for Kael.

"Yes, but I’ll need a year, more or less," Katari said.

"That’s fine with me, it aligns with my other schedules," Kael nodded. He could use the time to study other things, do some governance restructuring, and wait for Isabel to give birth.

A year might seem long but it could also fly by in the blink of an eye.

Katari waved her hand and took the two dragon corpses into her own pocket space.

She would begin the process as soon as possible.

The trio made it to the wide hole where N’bayé had broken the soil seal and found the so-called origin of humanity.

Kael stared into the hole, seeing the metal platform down below.

There were invisible magic barriers placed here by N’bayé to prevent anyone from getting close. The magic barriers did not affect them as they easily passed through it.

He walked off the edge and gently floated down like a feather. N’bayé and Katari followed after him.

They reached the bottom of the tunnel hole, and their feet touched the metal ground softly, creating a low thud sound.

N’bayé had been here a few times in the past days and had her eyes focused. Katari and Kael on the other hand were coming here for the first time.

The first thing that Kael noticed was the pentagon pattern array surrounding them and the podiums at all five vertices of this array.

All the podiums had spaces in their center but only one was empty. The rest were occupied by one rocket each.

"These rockets are the same as that anti-power rocket," N’bayé explained, noticing Kael’s curiosity.

Kael nodded, he somewhat knew what they were already. His consciousness had not been inside N’bayé when she came down here the first time.

But he was aware that the object that turned their fate around was a mysterious rocket that came out of nowhere and shut down almost everything.

Back then, the whole of Planet Kareem experienced a blackout, and the arkships in the sky lost power.

Even Kael had been in the process of temporarily losing his powers but he was able to fight against her effects with his Conquering Essence.

"So, there are four more?" Kael asked, not exactly requesting a response to that question.

His mind worked fast, thinking of all the things he could do with these rockets. A satisfied yet ruthless smile formed on Kael’s face.

"I waited till now to tell you about it, I assume they will be very useful to you," N’bayé said with a small smirk.

"In fact, they would." Kael nodded, "Have you figured out how to launch it?"

N’bayé nodded, "The whole facility is its launch pad.

It was made to prevent any powerful creatures from coming in. There seems to have been a coincidental malfunction.

Technically, if an individual who still had his powers had entered the facility, more rockets would have automatically been launched.

Fortunately, an error occurred and only one was able to be launched," N’bayé said.

Kael knew that the coincidence was very likely due to his and Olivia’s last-minute intervention.

"I can try and separate the launch pad from the whole facility but we would need to attach it to another vessel like an arkship when we want to use it," N’bayé added.

"No problem, let me see the rest," Kael said.

The three of them left the pentagon rocket launchpad and walked to the two heavy doors which were already open.

Kael walked in front and was the first to see the vast space containing the hibernation pods.

Kael was stunned, these hibernation pods were many. Kael’s spirit sense swept out and he could already count up to a million of these pods.

Each body was oval-shaped and composed of glass and metal components.

Some pods had small constantly shining lights at the base and a few others had stopped blinking.

The space inside the hibernation pods was a little foggy but Kael was still able to see what was inside.

’Monkeys,’ he thought.

Ever since Kael had been reincarnated, he had not seen a single ape creature, talkless of monkeys.

’What’s happening?’ Kael asked himself as he stepped forward.

A railing separated him from the hibernation pods but that didn’t stop him. The metal bars turned gold and were forcefully bent out of the way, allowing Kael to pass.

He levitated over to the nearest hibernation pod, bringing his face close so that he could peer through the glass and fog.

Right there, sleeping soundly inside the hibernation pod was a monkey. Kael estimated that it was probably four to five feet tall.

It had light brown fur and a pink face. Its eyes were closed in its peaceful slumber. The tail of the monkey was hung behind it in an ’S’ shape.

Even as Kael’s golden irises illuminated a part of the monkey’s face, the latter did not wake up.

It remained motionless, asleep.

Kael looked down at the base of the hibernation pods, there was a constant shining light coming from the bottom.

"The lights indicate that they are still alive," N’bayé said at this time.

Katari was also looking around at the hibernation pods. She wasn’t that fascinated and was just looking around because there was nothing to do.

"What are their power levels?" Kael asked, shifting back and taking a broader view of the whole set of hibernation pods.

"Each of them, those that are alive, are equivalent to a tier 2 lion. I don’t know about those that are dead because all the power and energy has been drained from their body," N’bayé said as she looked to the right where the passage was.

"Drained?" Kael asked.

N’bayé shrugged her shoulders, "I was surprised too. The whole facility is using these creatures as batteries while still trying to keep them alive.

I checked the logs, it was really long, too long for me to estimate how long this facility has been here. But the operating system of this facility has intentionally killed off some of the creatures and sucked out the energy to sustain the rest of the hibernation pods.

I’m assuming that these happened in times when the energy was dangerously low and there was a risk of the whole facility shutting down,"

"I see," A thoughtful expression appeared on Kael’s face as he began to draw patterns, "The information you gathered, where is it?"

"This way," N’bayé was waiting for Kael to ask this as she had already begun walking into the passage and heading to the terminal room.

Of all the things in this facility, N’bayé was most excited about the terminal room. She didn’t care about what happened with those so-called monkeys as long as she had the information in the terminal room.

She wanted to show it to Kael so that they could assess their priorities.

Katari and Kael glanced at each other before following N’bayé.

N’bayé walked into the room first and Kael followed after, then Katari.

The room was just the way N’bayé had left it. There were shelves with small black rectangular boxes placed on them.

At the end of the room, there was an advanced-looking terminal that seemed to be fused with the wall.

N’bayé walked toward the terminal and the terminal’s keyboard lit up with virtual keypads in response to her presence.

She pressed a button and the terminal’s screen came on. She was familiar with the controls as she had been playing around with them for some time now.

"That’s the password," N’bayé said telepathically before sending a telepathic message to Kael. It was the password for the terminal.

Katari didn’t receive this password, only Kael did.

N’bayé’s fingers moved rapidly across the glowing keyboard, typing in her long password.

After that, the terminal was open for use.

"What do you want to check first? The audio messages or the digital files?" N’bayé asked.
