Chapter 307: Chapter 308 The Price under the Gun
Song Xiaodong smiled and looked at Tian Huayuan, "So what?"
"So what?" Tian Huayuan slammed the table and shouted, "Assaulting a police officer is a serious crime, especially here, I could shoot you dead on the spot, do you understand?"
"Really? Then give it a try." Song Xiaodong still appeared nonchalant.
This infuriated Tian Huayuan even more. He darkly said, "Kid, you really are a pig who isnât afraid of scalding water. I warn you, if you heal Tian Hao and Chu Keweiâs arms, I might let you off the hook and help you out with your statement. But if you keep acting like this... humph, I guess youâre going to have to rot in jail."
"It doesnât matter to me anyway. Iâm bored, going there could be fun."
Tian Huayuanâs face was about to turn green with rage. The usual tactics that worked immediately now had no effect on this guy.
Out of anger, Tian Huayuan whipped out his pistol and pressed it against Song Xiaodongâs head, barking, "You damn bastard, do you believe Iâll blow your brains out right now?"
"Yeah? Go ahead, shoot." Song Xiaodongâs face still wore a smile, knowing that the guyâs gun wasnât even off safety; he certainly didnât need to be the slightest bit afraid.
Tian Huayuanâs eyes widened as he stared at Song Xiaodong. He had never seen anyone remain so calm at gunpoint. Now he was in a difficult position and didnât know what to do.
Suddenly, a commotion arose outside, followed by several people barging into the interrogation room without explanation.
Tian Huayuan frowned but upon seeing the men, went to close the door. These four were Tian Hao and Chu Kewei, along with their fathers.
"Kid, now that everyoneâs here, if you want a less severe sentence, then heal their arms quickly," Tian Huayuan glared and roared.
"I wonât heal them. Why should I?" Song Xiaodong glanced at them and responded indifferently.
Tian Haoâs father instantly got furious and glared, "If you donât heal my sonâs arm, do you believe I can kill you right now?"
"Sure, go ahead. Their arms are going to be crippled anyway."
"You..." Song Xiaodong left them choking on their words.
Chu Keweiâs father was relatively rational. He snorted coldly and asked, "What will it take for you to heal my son?"
Song Xiaodong looked at Chu Keweiâs father and said, "At least thereâs someone sensible here."
The othersâ faces darkened, but there was no time to argue. Their sonsâ arms were still useless, and if they couldnât be healed, they would be disabled.
"Speak up, what are your conditions?" Chu Keweiâs father asked sternly.
Song Xiaodong grinned and said, "Healing people always costs money, and I wonât ask you for muchâten million per person."
"Fuck! Why donât you just go rob somebody!" Tian Hao and Chu Kewei immediately shouted in anger.
Song Xiaodong shrugged and said, "If you canât afford it, you donât have to use my services. Keep trying hospitals; maybe youâll get lucky and find one that can fix your arms. Besides, an arm isnât that big a deal; it might even keep you from causing trouble in the future."
Tian Haoâs father, enraged, glared and said, "Kid, you still dare talk big in here, you really are bold. Alright, we wonât get you to treat them, then? Fine, weâll cripple your arm and let you experience this feeling."
Song Xiaodong glanced at Tian Huayuan and said, "Alright then. You people dare to say such things in front of the police; it seems this place isnât a police station but your familyâs backyard."
"Donât get smart with me, Kid. Iâll handle you right here, what can you do about it?" Tian Haoâs father picked up a rubber baton and made to strike Song Xiaodong.
"Be careful!" Tian Huayuan hastily shouted, but it was too late. Tian Haoâs father was still sent flying by a kick from Song Xiaodong.
At this point, Song Xiaodong casually stood up, "Since he can attack me here, then this clearly isnât a police station and I donât need to follow any rules."
"You... sit down!" Tian Huayuan quickly pulled out his gun and aimed it at Song Xiaodong once more.
Chu Kewei and the others perked up seeing the gun. Chu Keweiâs father frowned and said, "Kid, youâre too arrogant, daring to commit violence in a police station. Do you realize that even if Director Tian shoots you dead right now, youâd have gotten what you deserved?"
"Too bad he doesnât dare to shoot. But based on your performance just now, Iâve made a decision. If you want to heal your sons, the price doubles. Now itâs twenty million for one person; if you upset me again, I might just take one of your arms off and earn a bit more."
Tian Huayuanâs face darkened as he said angrily, "Kid, do you think I wonât dare to fire?"
"Itâs not that you donât dare; you simply wonât shoot. Until now, you havenât even taken the safety off. This kind of scare tactic is really boring."
Tian Huayuan was extremely embarrassed. He had drawn his gun to intimidate Song Xiaodong and he really didnât dare to fire here. If he faced a real criminal, maybe, but in this scenario, if he actually fired, he couldnât protect himself.
A shrilling ringtone suddenly cut through the tension, giving Tian Huayuan an exit. He shot a glare at Song Xiaodong, took out his phone to see the caller ID, and immediately tensed up. Answering with a smile, he said, "Bureau Chief Sun, this is Tian Huayuan."
"Is Song Xiaodong with you?" The caller asked straight away.
"Song Xiaodong..." Tian Huayuanâs heart skipped a beat. Bureau Chief Sun was the deputy bureau chief of the branch, and this case hadnât been reported yet. The direct inquiry suggested that Song Xiaodong had pulled some strings. Thinking quickly, he said, "Ah! Heâs with me, heâs involved in an assault case, and weâre investigating."
"Hmph! Did you investigate the cause of the incident?" Bureau Chief Sun asked coldly.
Tian Huayuanâs heart raced again. He hadnât inquired about the cause, but knew his nephewâs temperament likely started the trouble. Now that Bureau Chief Sun was bringing it up, it was obvious he was taking sides with Song Xiaodong.
Wiping sweat from his forehead, Tian Huayuan quickly replied, "Bureau Chief Sun, I will handle this case by the book, I assure you."
"That would be best." Bureau Chief Sun said and hung up.
