When Chen Chuan saw that Jiang Tian jumped straight to the lesson, he didnât bother with any pleasantries either and went forward. He relaxed his mind and let his biofield spread out.
Jiang Tian immediately sensed it and said, âWhen you took your technique exam, I could sense that your biofield is balanced. There were no fluctuations whatsoever. It was like a smoothly polished rock that didnât have a single flaw. This means that youâve achieved a perfect balance in all aspects and are rational and calm.â
The relaxed look then faded a little. âBut now, while youâre as calm as before, youâre like a bottomless lake that might drag someone under at any moment.â
As he stared at Chen Chuan, he lamented, âYour current biofield is quite terrifying.â
While he was talking, Chen Chuan could also sense something from Jiang Tian; he believed that it was Jiang Tianâs biofield. He could sense an active and dramatic aura.
It felt like a conductor on a stage, who could make its orchestra play a lively, animated symphony. If Chen Chuan were to be asked to point out the details, though, like the balance Jiang Tian mentioned, he wouldnât be able to do so. He couldnât sense it.
Jiang Tian spread his arms and smiled. âYou should have sensed my biofield too. While youâre sensing another personâs biofield, your target, too, can sense yours.
âEven though that means that your target can get a hold of your information, you can usually get more of their information. Weâll set aside how much information you can glean first and focus on how to not reveal too much about yourself. You need to change your biofield in a certain way for this.
âHiding information about yourself and misdirecting others is what you need to learn and master first.â
Chen Chuan nodded and said, âPlease teach me, Mr. Jiang.â
Jiang Tian walked around the hall for a bit before saying, âBiofields are mainly formed from the information spreading out from our mutated tissue. You should have been able to sense that just now. If you let them spread whatever information they want, youâll inevitably reveal the most clear and authentic information about yourself.
âHowever, once you learn how to use and guide them, you can make them release the information and biofield you want. Then, you can achieve your goal of deception.
âFor example, if you make a group of mutated tissue conceal their information while letting another group release it, your opponent may be deceived about what you can do. If you release that partial information properly and make others think that theyâve discovered everything about you, youâll gain a big advantage
âAfter years of experience and changes made to existing methods, martial artists have figured out certain models and ways. We now know which groups to restrain and which groups to keep active.â
Jiang Tian tapped his Realm Pass to send a document to Chen Chuan. âThese are some of the most basic models. You need to master these before thinking about more complicated derivations.â
Chen Chuan checked out the document. It contained three ways to change a martial artistâs biofield through controlling their mutated tissue. The derivations of the other models all stemmed from these three basic models.
After reading through them, he found that it wasnât hard at all. After all, most martial artists were using these models, which meant that they didnât need to mobilize a lot of mutated tissue to change the biofield.
Meanwhile, Chen Chuanâs mutated tissue covered a large expanse of his body. Whenever he fought, he had to mobilize them all the time. Recently, he had also been practicing the techniques that complemented the Furnace Breathing Technique. The amount of mutated tissue required for it and the complexity of their usage were much higher than those of the models, so picking them up wasnât hard at all.
Hence, after just taking a few looks, he managed to do it. All that was left was to familiarize himself with the action so that he could do it naturally
Jiang Tian had been keeping a close watch over his biofield. When he sensed the rhythmical transformation, he said, âYou picked it up so soon? Then again, with your talent, it makes sense. Letâs proceed to the next part.
âOnce youâve picked up the basics and understand them, you will know what your opponent is trying to do. At the very least, you wonât feel lost anymore. But if you want to swiftly analyze and understand your opponentâs biofield information, you need some skill and experience.â
At this point, he spread his arms slowly and said, âNow, try sensing my biofield.â
Chen Chuan did as he was told and found that it had largely changed. Jiang Tianâs biofield gave him a completely different feeling now.
If Jiang Tianâs biofield was a passionate conductor a moment ago, it was now an inconspicuous performer in the orchestra. It didnât stand out, but didnât fall out of rhythm either. It finished playing its part honestly and stubbornly, to the point of being numb and boring.
âWhich do you think is my real biofield? The first one or the second one?â Jiang Tian asked with a smile.
Chen Chuan tried to differentiate between the two. He believed that this was connected to what Jiang Tian had taught him just now. Since he couldnât dig for more detailed information, he could only compare them based on the general information he had sensed.
After a while, he said, âI feel like neither of them are your real biofield, but it also feels like both of them are.â
Jiang Tian snapped his fingers and praised him. âYouâre close. Youâre sharp, because you managed to notice the crucial information. Only a portion of the information between those two biofields is real. I intentionally changed the other portion. The difference is that I changed only a little of the first biofield, but a lot in the second one.
âTo me, biofields are like songs. You can hear all sorts of beautiful melodies from them, and those melodies tell you quite a lot of things, but only natural music is pleasant and beautiful.
âManmade music is stiff and rigid. Unless a person has reached a high-level of mastery, theyâll usually have a hard time removing that weakness.
âSo, what you need to do is simple. Notice the natural parts and abandon the stiff, rigid parts. Then, based on your own understanding, determine what sort of enemy youâre facing.
âYou need to be swift and decisive. For that, you need to practise a lot. Thereâs no shortcut for that. Itâd be best if you could find someone whoâd be willing to train with you. You need a good sparring partner for that. I canât help you in that regard, but if you have enough hologram resource points, I suggest hiring Hongfu.â
Chen Chuan nodded. Since Jiang Tian wasnât actually in charge of teaching biofields, he had already done a lot by guiding Chen Chuan to this point. If Chen Chuan had needed to explore this on his own, he didnât know how much time it would have taken him to figure out the key to mastering this.
Just then, Jiang Tian said, âHonestly, when it comes to techniques related to biofields, martial artists who arenât trained under the national education system seldom care about it. Itâs rare for anyone to realize their importance and want to learn them.
âIf you donât want to spend too much time and effort on this, just master what I told you. But if you want to hone your skills in this area, I have more I can share with you, and I can spare around twenty minutes every day for you. If you have any questions, feel free to come to me.â
âThank you, Mr. Jiang. This is really useful to me,â Chen Chuan thanked him.
Jiang Tian put his hands into his pockets and said with a smile, âYou donât have to thank me. This is just an exchange between two Third Limit martial artists. Some day, I might need your help.â
âIf you ever do need my help, please feel free to contact me,â Chen Chuan promised seriously.
Jiang Tian smiled and said, âIâll hold you to that. Letâs end our session here today.â
Then, he tapped on his Realm Pass before heading outside. âA number of students have purchased my course before the start of the semester. Itâs almost time for it, so I have to head to class.â
Chen Chuan didnât linger either and took the elevator back to his room. He didnât immediately jump to training with Hongfu, though. Instead, he practiced the three models repeatedly.
His plan was to practice until he could switch between the models instantaneously, and he believed that it should take him up to five days to do that. Only then would he be able to learn when he asked Hongfu for help.
Chen Chuan spent the day practicing and refining the Furnace Breathing Technique and all its complementary techniques.
The next day, it was the second of September. Early in the morning, Chen Chuan contacted Ni Qianqian and left the Arcane Palace to head to the Resolution Departmentâs headquarters.
The moment he walked through the door, one of the officers brought him to a lounge and served him tea.
Soon, he heard the signature clack of heels against floor tiles. Then, he saw a beautiful woman in a white uniform enter the room.
The woman appeared to be in her thirties and had her hair up in a bun. Her lips were curved into a polite smile. She bowed slightly to him before saying, âOfficer Chen, thank you for waiting. Please come with me.â
Chen Chuan stood up and nodded. âLead the way, please.â
The woman flashed him another smile and brought him out of the room.
Chen Chuan followed her to an elevator. Once they were inside, the woman pushed a button, and the elevator started going down and only stopped at basement level seven.
The doors opened. The woman walked out first before turning her body to the side and motioning for Chen Chuan to come out. âThis way, Officer Chen.â
Chen Chuan looked ahead at the long corridor before them. Its walls had cold, blue lights on them, which gave the impression that the Resolution Department wanted to speak about something important. After all, they had decided to do it underground.
They walked for two minutes before the woman opened a double door and entered a spacious, arc-shaped meeting room.
The edges of the room were dark, but the center was bright with a cold light. There stood a long, metal table fixed to the floor. The room was quiet, and when they walked into it, they could hear their footsteps clearly.
A middle-aged man was sitting behind the table while waiting for them. He wore a pair of sunglasses and an ironed uniform.
The woman moved to stand beside the man before facing Chen Chuan. âOfficer Chen, this is Special Officer Liang.â
That was all. She didnât mention his job scope, full name, or which department he belonged to.
Chen Chuan went closer and nodded as a greeting. âHello, Special Officer Liang.â
In an emotionless voice, Special Officer Liang said, âI called you here today to tell you certain things, Officer Chen.
âWe approach all martial artists who underwent the national education system and reached the Third Limit to inform them about certain things related to national secrets. Thatâs why Iâll need you to sign an NDA before telling you anything.â
The woman put a piece of paper on the table and pushed it to Chen Chuan.
With a stony face, Special Officer Liang continued, âYou have the right to say no to learning these things. If you do so, youâll head back, and no one will bother you about this again. If you want to know, please sign the agreement.â
