“Cuifen, you are so smart and kind-hearted, can you really afford to haggle over every little thing with me?” Sheng Ning looked at her own hands, and said dejectedly, “I thought you considered me your best friend… Aren’t you the one who likes to showcase deep sisterly love in front of others? What goes around comes around.”

“I… how could I!” Qin Cuifen almost gritted her teeth as she forced out the words, burning with anger inside while her gentle expression on her face stiffened almost to the breaking point.

“Thank you.” Sheng Ning flashed a sweet smile.

Qin Cuifen leaned in closer, and whispered bitterly into her ear, “Just you wait, don’t get too smug— you’ll see what’s coming.”

Sheng Ning paused, her uneasy premonitions growing stronger. She was just about to speak when she was interrupted by a voice from outside.

“Is this Comrade Sheng Ning?” A person walked up to Sheng Ning, scrutinizing her with stern eyes.

“It’s the inspector!” The uniform was unmistakable, and everyone looked at Sheng Ning with frightened eyes.

This definitely meant trouble, only those who had erred would have the inspector come knocking.

The frustrated Qin Cuifen’s eyes flashed with a vicious smirk. Humph! Enjoy your triumph— now wait for your downfall!

Yang Wenying stood with her hands behind her back following the man, her eyes, which were already sharp and strict, now seemed covered with a layer of ice.

Her gaze fixed intently on Sheng Ning, and then shifted to Qin Cuifen.

Qin Cuifen felt her heart pounding, wondering if the headquarter knew. Impossible! She had reported anonymously, how could they know?

After a while, Yang Wenying’s piercing gaze shifted away.

Qin Cuifen quietly sighed in relief and inconspicuously moved to the edge of the crowd.

“I am.” Sheng Ning looked at the inspector, roughly understanding that she was in trouble again.

“Somebody has accused you of deliberate fraud and deceiving the union. Please come with us now.”

Sheng Ning, shocked, widened her eyes, “How have I committed deliberate fraud?”

“You are required to come with me now to assist with the investigation.” The inspector was stern and unyielding, sizing her up as if she were some unforgivable villain.

“I can go, but we need to make everything clear right now.” Sheng Ning stood her ground, and not finding Qin Cuifen in the crowd, guessed she was feeling guilty.

“Ah, why are you being so stubborn, girl?” The other person was also annoyed upon hearing this.

“Sorry, I’ll come with you right now.” Sheng Ning knew she couldn’t twist an arm stronger than her leg; she realized that she couldn’t escape this situation.

“Sheng Ning.” Wu Youli, having received the news, bravely rushed in and grabbed her, worriedly saying, “Once you really go there, even if you are innocent, it will still be a mess.”

Sheng Ning casually smiled, “It’s okay, if I am innocent, then I am innocent.”

“But…” Wu Youli hesitantly didn’t finish her sentence. Sheng Ning’s reputation was already sour, and being investigated by the inspector could worsen it to the point where she might be overwhelmed by slander.

Yang Wenying had been observing everyone’s actions and expressions at the scene, including Sheng Ning. Her dissatisfaction faded considerably as she believed this girl wouldn’t deliberately fool her.
