“Okay!” Wu Youli rushed out excitedly to ask the leader for leave, but in the end, she was scolded and sent back.

“I’m fine.” Sheng Ning’s face was as pale as paper, but she normally had skin white as snow. She put on a burst of energy so that nobody could notice anything.

Wu Youli came up to her with a depressed look, “They’re just being unreasonable. They actually refused the leave, even saying that even if you’re down to your last breath, you should crawl up.” She was infuriated by those blockheaded people, pig-brained and inflexible. No wonder everyone was afraid to join the War Wolf Rescue Team.

Suddenly, a sharp bugle call rang out over the square—everyone knew it was the call to assemble. Everyone scrambled towards the drill ground, turning the room into a complete mess in an instant.

Sheng Ning was the last one out. She glanced back hastily and had a bad feeling.

The training field of the War Wolf Rescue Team was frighteningly large, with hundreds of female comrades assigned to a position in the northeast corner. By the time Sheng Ning arrived, there were already a dozen people dressed in rescue uniforms standing in front like unsheathed swords. The normally delicate girls in front were all hanging their heads like quails.

As the last one to arrive, Sheng Ning could barely move under the heavy weight of her footsteps. Under the gaze of hundreds of pairs of eyes, she became extra cautious with even her breathing.

Arriving this late was truly embarrassing.

Standing among the crowd, Qin Cuifen laughed smugly at her plight, while Wu Youli and Zhang Hongmei looked on worriedly.

“Reporting, requesting to join the formation.” Sheng Ning stood tall with her head held high, bracing herself.

Chen Yingjie’s face was cold and fierce. He was already in a bad mood, and upon seeing someone daring to be late, his anger surged.

“How long has it been? Is this how you come? We don’t sustain the useless.” Chen Yingjie gave Sheng Ning a scathing reprimand.

Many people in the ranks looked at Sheng Ning with disdain, some sniggering at her misfortune.

Chen Yingjie’s eyes swept over them, and suddenly it was dead silent. He held a teaching whip in his hand, which he contemptuously swept over each person. It paused just slightly when passing by Chen Huaying, then his brows knotted tightly.

But this slight interruption didn’t stop him from berating people, “You dare to laugh? Have a look at yourselves. What virtue do you possess? We give you one minute to get here from the dormitory; how long did you take? You do the math.”

Sheng Ning’s eyes widened in surprise; how could one minute be enough when the dormitory was so far away?

“One minute, how is that possible.”

“That’s right, even ten minutes wouldn’t be enough!”

The ranks erupted into an uproar, and Chen Yingjie swung the whip in the air sharply, producing an explosive sound.
