It was evening, so those who didn’t need to be on duty could have a drink or two.

Shen Feihu and Xu Qigang were both drinkers, and alcohol was essential at such gatherings. However, the War Wolf Rescue Team was poor, and every time they drank, it was Shen Feihu who paid.

“Xiao Tao, bring out that bottle of ‘Lao Bai Gan’ for me.”

“Yes, President.” Whenever they came to the War Wolf Rescue Team, it was always them bringing their own alcohol, and only Captain Xu could enjoy such treatment. Their president would drink for free even at the Provincial Rescue Center and deny it later.

A bottle of ‘Lao Bai Gan’ was poured, and the dishes made by the chief cook were served.

Looking at the dishes on the table, a group of young comrades showed envious expressions.

Shen Feihu loved Drunken Peanut the most. Having tasted it with some aged ‘Lao Bai Gan’, it felt blissfully divine!

“Not bad! This is good!” Shen Feihu shouted, “Xiao Tao, tell the chief cook to make some more of this, and pack some for me to take away later.”

“Yes, President.” Xiao Tao had just finished eating and dashed into the kitchen, but couldn’t help muttering to himself, ‘Dear President, is it really okay to eat like this and still take some home?’

Xu Qigang looked at the dishes on the table, all made from ordinary cafeteria ingredients; he guessed the potatoes were probably dug up by Zhou Hong and Hai Shen as a prank. Yet, they looked more appetizing than usual, and

he picked up his chopsticks and tried a bite, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. Then he exchanged looks with Zhou Hong, who spread his hands as if to say he had no idea what was going on.

This food definitely wasn’t cooked by the cooking staff.

He had once been on the battlefield for three years. In harsh conditions, he had eaten all sorts of things. Fighting in the primitive jungle, getting cut off from supplies and going several days without food had been normal. Hence, his taste buds were quite dull—not that he couldn’t taste at all, that would be an exaggeration.

It’s just that when eating US beef cans and compressed biscuits made no difference, you got used to it.

Xu Qigang ladled a bowl of Jade Soup and almost contentedly finished it.

“I must declare in advance, tonight everyone should only drink this one glass”, Shen Feihu said, “whoever dares to drink more, I’ll twist his head off.”

“Yes! We wouldn’t dare!”

“We shall keep to the rule.”

One drink wasn’t even enough to wet one’s lips!

“Here’s a drink to everyone.” Shen Feihu toasted, “You all are experts pulled from major units by the Provincial Rescue Center, and it’s my honor, Shen Feihu, to have you in my Rescue Association.”

“You’re mocking us! Having the opportunity to come and learn from the War Wolf Rescue Team is something we desperately wanted.” Hai Shen’s group was frightened into standing up immediately; Shen Feihu was notoriously arrogant in the rescue world, and they knew him being humble meant no good was coming.

“Oh? If that’s the case, then who was it that went to the Provincial Rescue Center and tattled?”

Xu Qigang watched the president settle scores, a hint of amusement in his eyes, and chimed in: “I heard Captain Hai studied at Yanjing University.”

Shen Feihu immediately joined in, their coordination seamless, “He must have majored in ‘Broadcast Gossip’, right?”

The faces of the Provincial Rescue Center’s delegation turned as red as liver, and Hai Shen’s good temper was pushed to the verge of tears. This was practically calling them out by name—they had no merit yet ran to the Provincial Rescue Center to complain.

With one being Living Yama and the other being Feihu, it was too risky in the Rescue Association. He regretted volunteering to come and learn, wondering if it’s even possible to go back now?
