And he seemed so delighted to do so.

These two families, although not yet married, were closer than some who were.

Just yesterday he received a phone call from his son in the county town, saying to have someone deliver the message personally that they wanted to get married right after the New Year.

“Wouldn’t that be too presumptuous?” Sheng Laosan said, though he was already getting down from the kang bed to look for his shoes.

Sheng An and Shen Luhua exchanged a look and couldn’t help but stifle a laugh.
