The doctors and nurses in the emergency room, along with two other patients, all cast admiring glances at Chen Huaying. She felt so embarrassed to cry that she timidly stretched out her hand.
"Fine! If I must get an injection, then it better not hurt."
"Are you joking? Injection that doesnât hurt?" Sheng Ning teased, "If you dare to cry later, Iâll go to your university and spread the word."
"You wouldnât dare."
"Try me and see."
Chen Huaying backed down, thoroughly subdued by Sheng Ning. Fearless of both heaven and earth, it was just in front of Sheng Ning that she felt too shy to act tough.
"Comrade, Iâll have our hospitalâs best nurse give you the injection and stitch up the wound, okay?" the doctor said amiably.
Chen Huaying nodded vigorously, "Yes, yes, thatâs great."
"Thank you, Doctor," the little fat man chimed in gratefully.
The doctor instructed a nurse with teary eyes, who after leaving for a moment, returned accompanied by a tall woman in a white coat. Both her aura and appearance were outstanding among the nurses, with a little dimple on her right cheek when she smiled, looking particularly endearing.
Sheng Ning couldnât help but take a second glance, seldom did someone embody both elegance and sweetness so well. This nurse managed it!
"Sheâs our best nurse; you wonât feel a thing when she gives injections."
Looking pitiful, Chen Huaying looked up and asked, "Are you Song Huwen?"
"Yingzi, youâve grown so much and still scared of injections?" Song Huwen smiled warmly at Chen Huaying, "That wonât do. I heard youâre attending National Security University now. You canât disgrace the university."
"Not at all!" The once timid Chen Huaying suddenly changed her demeanor, putting on an indifferent front as she scoffed, "Just do it quickly; I have places to be."
"Alright then!" Song Huwen started stitching, bandaging, and giving the injection in good humor.
True to her word, Chen Huaying didnât whimper throughout the procedure, although Sheng Ning could see her muscles were tensed with nervousness. She gritted her teeth and endured it, possibly because there was some issue between her and Song Huwen.
After administering the injection, Song Huwen glanced at Sheng Ning curiously, "Yingzi, whoâs this? Why donât you introduce us?"
"You donât know her?" Chen Huaying said haughtily, chin lifted.
"I really donât," Song Huwen, having washed her hands, straightened up and gazed at Sheng Ning with innocent, large eyes, "She doesnât look like sheâs from the compound. Is she a friend you made elsewhere?"
Chen Huaying made a face behind her and winked repeatedly at Sheng Ning.
Sheng Ning looked back at her, having only exchanged glances earlier, but she had detected intense hostility in the otherâs eyes. She usually liked people with dimples, but there was something about Song Huwen that set her on edge, prompting her to be wary.
"Donât know, donât care!" Chen Huaying adjusted her clothes and stood up, kicking the little fat man, "Arenât you going to pay? Itâs all your fault. Would we have such bad luck otherwise?"
"Yes, yes, my fault." If the little fat man had known all this mess would happen, he wouldnât have dragged Sheng Ning and the others here. Once back, their boss would probably give him an earful.
The little fat man went to settle the payment while Chen Huaying tried to leave, sporting a gauze on her head, and Sheng Ning quickly supported her.
"Are you just going to leave like this? Why donât you come to my office and sit for a while?" Song Huwen didnât seem to feel embarrassed by Chen Huayingâs attitude, and instead politely invited her over.
