"Come here." Xu Qigang waved her over, seeing Sheng Ning was unhappy, he quickly explained, "The injury hasnāt healed..."
"Then why are you still running around?" Sheng Ning was both angry and concerned, quickly running up to him to support him. "How are you? Where do you feel uncomfortable? Iāll go call Doctor Guo."
"Already changed the bandage."
"Can you still walk?"
Xu Qigang pursed his lips, adjusting her support to him to holding his arm instead. "I can walk."
"Then you just lied to me earlier?" Sheng Ning gave him a side look.
Xu Qigang didnāt say anything and just looked at her with bright eyes. He loved seeing her happily throw herself into his arms; it made him feel blissful.
"Have you eaten yet? I havenāt cooked at home!" Sheng Ning had bought many things in the city, leaving the home all messy. Because she had previously agreed on a time to call her parents, she hadnāt gotten around to tidying up.
"Not yet, weāll eat at Wu Houhaiās house today."
"Isnāt that inappropriate?" Sheng Ning felt rather embarrassed, "After we got married, technically we should host a meal for everyone, but we havenāt done it even once! Going over to mooch off dinner again, wouldnāt that make me seem lazy?"
She was planning to live in the Family Compound in the future and couldnāt afford to accidentally get a bad reputation.
"Weāve both been busy, right? And Wu Houhaiās plan didnāt work out, so he should host." Xu Qigang said casually.
"Alright, letās go freshen up first."
The War Wolf Rescue Teamās family compound was far from resembling a home, even though Sheng Ning had previously taken time to clean up, it still felt desolately empty from long abandonment.
"No way, the environment here doesnāt work." Seeing the piled-up stuff, Sheng Ning was extremely disdainful and pushed Xu Qigang, who was about to enter, back outside.
"Whatās up?" The man rolling up his sleeves froze, why wasnāt he allowed to go home?
Watching him roll up his sleeves, Sheng Ning countered, "What are you up to?"
"Cleaning up! Youāve been tired all day, take a break, Iāll clean up instead..." Xu Qigang didnāt finish because Sheng Ningās eyes turned red.
"Why... are you crying?" The two stood at the doorway, while neighbors quietly observed them. Xu Qigang wanted to pull her into his arms but was pushed away by Sheng Ning.
"Stop crying." He whispered, "Tell me what I did wrong, Iāll change next time, alright? Even though, honestly, I didnāt really do anything wrong." He cared for his wife, but he still held onto his principles.
He apologized, but deep down he believed he hadnāt erred.
"Why apologize if you did nothing wrong?"
"Iām only sorry because I care about my wife, apologizing is the first step." Xu Qigang turned around and glared at the surroundings, scaring the spectators into quickly closing their doors and windows.
Movements swift, fearful of being reprimanded by the Captain later on.
Sheng Ning rubbed her eyes herself, "Iām fine, you go sit at Wu Houhaiās for a bit, itās almost time to eat. Iāll tidy up the house first, once thatās done Iāll join you. That way we can live here after dinner."
"Alright, thatās fine too." Xu Qigang looked at the sky, the sun had set, and the spring dusk lingered longer. Without his watch, left behind in S Country, he judged the time by the light.
Sheng Ning noticed his actions, her eyes stung even more.
