After arriving home, Liu Chun came over, busy carrying things here and there. Before he left, Sheng Ning specially took a few peaches and stuffed them into his arms.
"Xiao Ning, Iām going to the infirmary, and then Iāll call people over for dinner." Xu Qigang said, standing at the door.
"Do you want me to go with you?" Sheng Ning stuck her head out from the kitchen and asked.
"No need!" Xu Qigang shook his head helplessly, "Iām just going to Guo Siming for a check-up, Iāll be right back."
"Alright!"
Sheng Ning wondered if she was being too clingy. He was much more familiar with the War Wolf Rescue Team than she was, so why would she need to tag along?
"Sis, sis, is this my room?" Anāan came out of the small room, full of excitement.
"Yes! I prepared it for you in advance." Sheng Ning wiped the water off her hands and went to her room with Anāan. Inside was a single bed, with brand new quilt and sheets that had the fresh scent of sunlight.
A desk was placed facing the window, and when it was opened, you could hear the chirping of birds outside. In the summer, it wouldnāt be hot, and you could see the lush green leaves.
Anāan was extremely pleased.
"Sis, I really like it here."
"As long as you like it. By the way, I noticed you get along well with Feng Xiaoli and the others at school. I made some extra delicious food today, make sure to take some over for them to try."
"Thanks, sis." Anāan rolled up her sleeves and proactively helped Sheng Ning, picking and washing vegetables. Her movements were skillful as she did this every day at home, and the two sisters working together sped things up quite a bit.
Before long, the neighbors started to arrive.
Several captainsā wives, along with some group leadersā wives, came over. There was also an unmarried young girl and some children running around everywhere. Thankfully, Sheng Ning was well-prepared; she had bought fruit candies in advance and handed some out to the children she met.
It was also to make up for the wedding candies not previously given out.
"Sister-in-law is truly generous," said a woman holding a child, somewhat reservedly.
In fact, Sheng Ning didnāt plan to get too close with the families in the compound. It wasnāt out of disdain or a sense of different status but rather because they had different times and pursuits.
In her past life, she suffered numerous losses.
In this life, she only wanted to be friends with those who shared the same aspirations. It didnāt matter if the person was rich or poor, beautiful or plain. What mattered were similar goals and personalities.
The atmosphere also had to match.
She simply didnāt want to seem aloof or unsociable. It was enough to maintain the proper distance and boundaries with the neighbors. Helping each other in times of need, and resolving problems if they came to her, sheād never refuse.
That was sufficient.
So, as more guests filled the house, Sheng Ning became more composed. She treated everyone equally, not neglecting anyone for being less articulate, nor giving extra attention to those who were flattering.
Soon enough, others figured out her style, naturally letting go of any reservations, and the atmosphere improved.
What an ease!
Xing Fang watched, and the more she watched, the more she admired her. No wonder she could be the captainās wife; this steady and calm demeanor and method were something she couldnāt learn.

Xu Qigang met Li Duoxi downstairs, directly asking him to help gather people, and then went to the infirmary himself. When he was discharged from the hospital, he had promised to have a check-up every day and would go to the hospital immediately if there were any issues.
If it were in the past, he wouldnāt have gone to check-ups. But now itās different; he has a family, more responsibilities, and duties on his shoulders. He canāt afford to be reckless anymore.
