"How is Uncle doing?"
Su Huaiāan shook his head, "Still no news. Itās predicted he parachuted early, but the search area is too vast. Once it goes beyond seventy-two hours, it becomes very difficult to find him."
Itās not that heās giving up easily; itās that he is rational enough. His rich knowledge and experience allow him to calmly assess the situation.
"Donāt worry! Uncle has extensive combat experience, he will be fine."
"Yes! Thatās our only hope at the moment."
While they were talking, the doctor hurriedly came out from inside, "Professor Su, I suggest you call Vice Chairman Su back! The old man canāt hold on much longer."
Thereās a tradition when an elderly passes; having the children and grandchildren by the bedside is a show of filial piety. If the eldest son canāt return, at least the younger son and grandson should be by the bedside.
Otherwise, the old man wonāt leave in peace.
Su Huaiāan rushed back just to avoid missing the old manās final moments.
"...Alright!" Su Huaiāan got up and went inside to make a call.
Sheng Ning squatted on the ground alone, her legs numb but unwilling to stand up. Anāan gently tapped her, whispering, "Sis, why donāt you get up?"
"Iām thinking about something. Whereās Grandpa Hai?"
"He went home. The old man was too annoying, kept talking and talking. I said I was thirsty, so I took him home." Despite Anāanās complaints, being willing to take the old man home was a big step forward.
Sheng Ning could imagine the old manās face breaking into a smile.
"What are you thinking about?" Anāan sat where Su Huaiāan had squatted earlier, not caring about the dust on the ground, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Iām thinking about how useless I am. Unable to help Grandfather with his treatments, and now I canāt even find Uncle." It was the first time Sheng Ning felt like such a failure.
"I... maybe I can help you find Uncleās approximate landing spot." Anāanās eyes flashed with a glimmer of hope. "I heard Uncle parachuted, but no one knows where he landed. The search area and difficulty have kept him from being found?"
"Yes, you can really find him?" Sheng Ning stood up excitedly, her numb legs making her stumble. "Anāan, youāre not lying to me? You can actually find him?"
Anāan pointed to her own head, "Iām not as dumb as you guys."
"Anāan, youāre not cute at all like this."
"Heh... Only kids are cute. Why should adults be cute?"
"But you were always so cute before!" Sheng Ning affectionately ruffled her hair, "Didnāt the Little Hooligan get infatuated with your cuteness?"
A complex emotion flickered in Anāanās dark eyes, one even she couldnāt understand, "Little Hooligan... donāt mention him."
"Oh!" Sheng Ning obediently kept silent.
Since recovering her memory, Anāan and Qin Yue could never go back to how they were before.
Sheng Ning pulled Anāan along to find Su Huaiāan, explaining Anāanās ability to find Uncle. Initially, Su Huaiāan was incredulous. But then he remembered Anāanās performance at the National Security University, his face lit up with joy.
"Anāan, Iām counting on you for my father."
"Weāll talk when we find him."
"Letās go now." Su Huaiāan pulled Anāan and they started walking out. Halfway there, he stopped and said, "When Uncle comes back, tell him to stay put and not leave. Weāll be back soon."
"Alright."
