"So what is your name?" That was the first question that was asked, but it certainly was a strange one to ask at this point.
We had already known this old man for a while and had gotten quite a bit of information from him, but the one thing that we didnât know about him was his name.
"Lancelot."
I didnât really have a reaction to this name since it was a name in my past life.
As far as I could remember, this name wasnât really that important in this world since there wasnât a NPC that had this name.
But I could hear a gasp of shock coming from behind me.
When I looked back, I saw that it wasnât just Klein and the other royal guards that were shocked to hear this. The knights from the other kingdoms also seemed to have heard this name before.
It seemed that this name was some kind of legend among the knights, one that I had no idea about.
The more that I saw them like this, the more confused that I felt.
After all, a name that held this kind of weight with the knights should have been a name that was famous in the game. It was strange that I had no idea who this old man was at all.
After a long silence, Klein suddenly asked, "Are you really the Black Knight?"
The moment that he said this, I couldnât help suddenly thinking of something.
I hadnât thought of anything when the old man said his name, but when Klein brought up this title, I immediately thought of something from the game. It was something that had been mostly included in flavour text, but it was a big part of the lore.
After all, this Black Knight was a famous knight in the past.
It could even be said that this Black Knight was the one that had defined how the current training system for knights worked since he was one of the most outstanding knights.
But a character like him was now an old man like this...
Well, it made sense that this old man would have this kind of physique if he really was the Black Knight. At the same time, it made sense that he would have this kind of willpower.
One of the stories about the Black Knight in the past was that he had pushed through an entire battlefield all alone to protect his king.
Another one of his stories was how he had defended a bridge against an entire army all on his own through sheer willpower.
This was a man that was known for his power and determination, so it would only make sense that he would be able to hold out against the corruption energy for so long.
The moment that Klein asked this, there was a sad look that appeared in the old manâs eyes before he said, "So it turns out that people still remember me. Itâs just that the current me canât compare to those legends at all. I am just an old man who is past his prime."
All of us couldnât help looking at him with pity when we heard this, but there was nothing that we could do for him.
After all, the problem that he faced now was a personal one...
Instead of trying to solve this problem for him, I said, "For someone as powerful as you, how did you get caught by the forces of Destruction?"
A bitter smile appeared on the old manâs face before he said, "How could a mortal face the powers of a god? You should already know who is behind these people, even the most powerful knight canât do anything against divine power."
None of us said anything, but the looks on our faces were more than enough to show what we were thinking.
But it was surprising that the old man would say this.
After all, that would imply that he had faced the God of Destruction before...
Or at least one of the Four Omens since only those five seemed like they could stop the strongest knight in history. After all, it wasnât as if he couldnât run if he couldnât win against his opponent.
So for the old man to be trapped like this...
Well, it meant that he had been overpowered and captured.
Normal Apostles of Destruction definitely didnât have that kind of power.
It was only the Four Omens or the God of Destruction that could do such a thing, but it was unlikely that this old man had encountered the God of Destruction before.
Taking a deep breath, I said, "Your ordeal is over now, do you wish to get your revenge?"
The old man turned to look at the sealed Apostle of Destruction once more before giving a firm nod.
Even if he had become an old man, this old man was once the Black Knight.
The Black Knight had been known as the strongest knight in history.
It was impossible for him to lose everything just because he had been trapped here for so long.
After a moment of silence, the old man suddenly said with a sigh, "But how can I take care of him? I donât have the same power as all of you."
I shook my head and said, "Itâs fine if you donât have the same power, itâs easy for me to temporarily give you that power."
As soon as my voice fell, I raised my hand and formed a blade of divine ice that I handed over to the old man.
He was surprised to see this, but he took it from me without hesitation.
As the strongest Black Knight, it was only natural that he felt something different about this.
He just gave me a strange look before turning to look at the Apostle of Destruction.
"No, stop it." The Apostle of Destruction said, but it wasnât any use at all.
The old man took a deep breath and raised the blade before plunging it down into the Apostle of Destruction.
With this concentrated divine energy pierced into it, the Apostle of Destruction naturally couldnât resist at all as it was blown up from the inside out.
"Itâs finally over." The old man said in an emotional voice.
None of us said a thing since we knew that it wasnât our place to say anything.
