âMy combat ability has risen to half a million.â
White thought, fingers clenching and unclenching, but then he paused as the voice echoed in his head.
"Interesting. You were able to heal yourself from the doors of death."
"Itâs not natural regeneration by any means, almost looking like a divine law of sorts. The source is quite hard to pin down."
"But you didnât just regenerate, you grew stronger too. And to top it all off, I suddenly feel like youâve gotten a little bit more soul space for me to contain."
"Like your spirit has increased."
It explained.
White, in that moment, paused before asking.
âHey system, can you hear that?â
[Hear what?]
It said, and the sight of that made White smile slightly in his heart.
âTheyâre cut off from each other.â
White realized.
See, the system can listen to his thoughts and knows everything about White.
His ability, his next moves, his true strength and power.
It knows every single thing, except one thing.
Everything that has to do with Whiteâs soul.
In the Otherworld, he had learned that the system didnât really seem to be fused with his soul directly.
If he wanted to keep a secrecy of any sort from the system, the only way was through his soul.
And there... came in the Otherworlder.
The Otherworlder had no idea of the system, either.
It was in Whiteâs soul, but so far White hadnât explicitly called out the system out loud.
It would never know a second force existed in him.
It was why White had made sure every communication with the system from now on was through thoughts, something thatâs clear the Otherworlder canât pick up on.
Disconnecting both from each other was a move that benefited White in two ways.
One, it was still impossible for anyone to know that the system existed. Only he does.
And two, the system didnât know everything about him or his power now.
Sure, it knew of his Essence power and also knew of his genetic transplant fusion power, but it wouldnât know about the Otherworlder.
This was him finally possessing something that could come in clutch if there ever came a fight between him and the system.
An entity that is meant to know everything about him.
Though their relationship had been going smoothly, it didnât even seem like anything of such would ever happen.
White still remembered how he had died in his past life.
"Itâs a unique ability of mine. My energy adapts to an opponentâs energy. If theyâre strong, itâll lead to a boost in my power too."
He said, the exact explanation heâd given back in Xtremecyber Academy.
"The regeneration is just an extra effect."
He completed.
"Your energy. You mean the lock on your essence core?"
The Otherworlder asked as Whiteâs hand unconsciously gripped his chest.
"Yes. That."
"Why is it locked? Also, it looked like your home just got destroyed. Is that a normal thing around here?"
It asked further, as Whiteâs eyes narrowed, looking into the distance.
He could still feel the reek of blood and chaos even from so far away.
Instead of replying, he took steps backwards and began to run back.
"Letâs get out of this area first."
"Thereâs no saying if that last Otherworlder is really gone for good, or going to call even more powerful Otherworlders."
Taking a direction to the left, he sprinted into the distance.
Only after running for about 20 minutes did he come to a stop before what seemed like an underground canyon.
He stepped in, exhaling to quell his beating heart before responding.
"Actually, thatâs not my home. Itâs an academy, and... isnât my real academy."
He explained, continuing
"Iâm from another academy, and we were simply brought here for an exchange between both academies."
"Iâm here to learn about Otherworld dreaming and cultivation."
He said.
"So thatâs why you know so little about Otherworld Dream?"
It asked, and he nodded.
"Yes. Otherworld dreaming isnât exactly my path. Iâm an Essence cultivator."
"But, probably to allow us to feel the pressure of the new environment, my essence core was sealed away in the agreement."
"Thatâs why itâs currently locked."
"I understand now."
It said, continuing
"And the academy getting destroyed?"
"That doesnât make any sense."
White mused.
"Aether Beyonder Academy was an academy said to be mightier than all three top academies combined, even though theyâre not ranked because their way of cultivation goes against the Ascension Academy codes."
"But still, theyâre incredibly strong, with most possessing two paths of cultivation. How could they have been destroyed?"
"What destroyed them?"
White mused, gripping his head.
âIt was impossible.â
There was no knowledge of the Aether Beyonder Academy being destroyed from his regression knowledge.
But to be fair, he also had no knowledge of Aether Beyonder Academy even existing in his past life.
âHey system, for how long was I asleep?â
White asked in his thoughts, and it flashed.
[2 weeks.]
âItâs been a month now since I arrived here.â
"So, Iâm guessing now you would try to find your way back to your old academy?"
It asked him as White paused.
"I donât know."
White mused.
He, of course, didnât have the path back to Xtremecyber. The journey had taken hours with an ultra-powerful jet flying at full speed.
He had no idea how to go back.
Besides, judging from that Otherworlderâs words, Aether Beyonder was located in the far wilderness, far away from any civilian life.
White could confirm that, as he remembered that he had come here by jumping into a portal.
He might be even farther from that place than ever.
Finding his way back to Xtremecyber would be an extremely difficult task.
"Or I could wait?"
White mused.
"Xtremecyber would, of course, try to keep contact with Aether Beyonders."
"Even if they donât, I was meant to return after three months, and a month has gone by."
"If I wait here for two more months, maybe theyâll come, and I can return."
"So thatâs your plan, huh..."
The Otherworlder asked.
"Sit and hope help comes?"
